Yesterday went to collect my D900i as its been in repair for a month as I mucked up the IMEI after entering a unlock code believing this was 1.
anyway when I went in CPW they told me Samsung had replaced the handset then the Shop assistant gets the phone brings it back he hands me over a Black D900i I assume it is anyways it's New etc however when I get home and I test the phone to see if it's unlocked which it is then I discover it's a D900 handset now im not happy ive tried to sell this and looking on eBay I can't even get £100 for it is there anything I can do?
My D900i cost me £149.99
CPW have had the reciept back off me is it wise if I take it back and complain? any ideas peeps

@Miss UK
Of course go back to CPW and scream blue murder they have replaced your phone with a lesser model and that's just not right demand either the same model you bought or your money back is what i would do. By the way don't actually scream as that will get you no where fast but ask for the manger and explain everything in a calm and polite manner if you can. If they refuse tell them you will be reporting them to trading standards how old was the phone you returned?nad dependant on their advice may well issue a County Cort Summons hopefully that should have the desired effect. Sorry one last thing i don't quite get do you still have a receipt or not as other wise without one this will be much harder to prove and may cause you problems.

The big issue though is that I mucked up the imei on the last 1 and in Samsungs terms it mentions they cannot fix ammend these under warranty,
I didn't buy the phone of CPW and yet they still went out of there to sort it for me the replacement phone is probaly a refurb but it looks brandnew the guy told me it was new, it's sim free etc.
the phone I messed up was 2 months old!
I don't intend on keeping the phone but it's not the same phone as I bought it's not got flight mode nor the radio lol
I don't know what to do I could take it back then they might say why didn't you look at it instore or wheres the reciept they may say it was nothing to do with them etc

Silly question time:
What were you doing changing the IMEI?
Posted by Miss UK
I wasn't changing the IMEI I entered a Code beleiving it was a unlock code.
the code reset the EEPROM on the phone and the Imei was reset
Posted by Miss UK
Ive decided im gonna take it back on Tuesday im clearley not happy that it's a downgraded phone im loosing out on £70 if I sell it considering it's selling for that price on eBay my D900i is worth more and I want one of them back
Posted by Dogmann
@Miss UK
I suppose it's worth a try but as it was you that erased the EROM maybe you should just be great full that they did anything for you at all. I suppose it's worth a try but then they could of just given you back your original phone that wasn't working and that would obviously of been far worse. Good Luck

I will wonder along tomorrow to CPW..
Thats what im thinking @ Dogmann,
ive had a replacement cos of that they didn't have to give me it really!
but thing is CPW told me they'd sort it for me under the warranty they have but it's not the correct handset it's worth less then the D900i
I can't even get £100 for it on eBay with a 1GB
thats whats hacking me off the D900i cost me £149.99
and this bag of crap is £70

Well, there sure is a price difference, but your D900i was locked and used (only for a short time, but still), the replacement is, as far as I understand, unused and unlocked.
These are a lot easier to sell and at a better price, than locked ones, you'd keep this in mind, when comparing prices.
Plus : you got rid of your "illegal"
But of course you can give it a try at CPW, I hope successfully !

don't tell them what you did to your original one tho. If they asked it was working one minute, next thing you know the screen started to flash white, you removed the battery and it ended up like it is. There's no need to tell them more than they need to know.

Just goes to show that you dont have to think the worst. Sometimes people admit their mistakes and resolve them.
Glad it worked out ok for you.

@Miss UK
Well good to here it all worked out and to be honest i think you have had an amazing result you couldn't really of got a better result then that. The moral of the story is be careful when trying to do things you are not certain of as the results can be quite catrostophic as you discovered. But really am pleased for you that it all worked out so well, and people slag off the CPW i think they have given you excellent service even if it did take a while.

Could people please stop advising others to tell shop assistants they will "report them to Trading Standards" or "get a County Court Summon"?
After you've gone they'll either laugh at you for being a moron, or if their anything like me they'll say sarcastically behind your back "ohhh, i'm so scared, i'm wetting my pants as we speak".
The staff in the shop, including the manager, have no say over how the company is run, but they will do whats within their power. If they've been told to do a job, they'll do it, so please don't take it out on them. They're not stupid, they know right from wrong and will do whats within the boundrys of the companies policy, and you can't change that.
Put yourself in their shoes, someone walks in with no reciept and a phone and says you gave them the wrong one, what are you going to do? Give them a new one out of the stock room, make them happy, then get an enourmous bollocking from your manager/area manager/or higher for loosing them £150 without any authorisation from higher powers, or worse risking your job? I think not. I've been in this situation too many times to remember, and it always ends with the same conclusion.
Anyway, rant over, but I'm glad it was all sorted, calmness and patience pays off, especially when they realise their mistake and solve it quickly and painlessly
