Posted by ferrarista44

well this message keeps popping up everytime i accessed my GPRS ::>>GPRS Failed >>> GPRS Parameters not supported, when i fact i was able to accesss this few months back...maybe you can help...

@mikes - if you can see a GPRS signal in your screen, it may have something to do with the settings. Have you tried OTA configurator?
Better yet, you can visit globe centers and have it checked. Good luck!

Globe cust svc really SUCKS! I had a prob b4 wid my mms and it took 2 visits to 2 difrnt globe centers, 2 calls to globe CS and 1 very angry email before they cud fix it. It is a shame dat their CS dnt knw much abt mms. Very frustrating!

we really don't have a choice... SMART or GLOBE... its really the same... la man pagpipilian

Posted by randyrivera
digitel is coming...

Posted by arki_ed
Well there are pros and cons for the two telecom companies but because I need more coverage area that is why I settled with smart and besides I don't have any signal for globe at my place, which is in malate!

what i like abt globe and smart? its their commercial models.. esp the girls... thats it.

Posted by jplacson
Globe MMS CS service is horrible... I ended up signing up for MMS over WAP... took 10 seconds..now MMS works perfectly. Lesson with Globe, trust OTA more than CS idiots.

Smart... GPRS service is very, very limited. Smart brags about a lot of services they have (GPRS, HSCSD) but these aren't FULLY operational (hmmm... I'm not surprised since they are one and the same with PDLT)

So far, I'm happier with Globe. Their CS sucks... but over-all GSM service is pretty ok, even out of town. I get good GPRS even in places Smart can't...so I'm happy. Another plus is that Globe is NOT a PLDT partner/sister company...I'd go with Globe just for that. I'd rather have my money go to an Ayala firm, than PLDT.

I do however like Smart's locator service.

yeah d girls in their comercials lng! dats it! galing mo talaga 619! hehe

globe is a lot cheaper than smart overall.

fact 1 - globe replenishes your prepaid text credit monthly
fact 2 - globe has cheaper rates if you call another globe phone on a non peak hour
fact 3 - globe has more tie ups with establishments for their gentxt card

1- True, but Smart gives you free txts when you reload your phone

2- Dunno, they look the same to me.

3- True;

Cons:

1. Globe can be a real PAIN to text with; lags, etc. esp. during holiday season. Smart sends all the time, on time

2. Globe's voice quality when linking to landlines is lousy; Smart all the way!

Posted by randyrivera
and by the way i forgot to mention....

4 - Globe GPRS is still free!!! Rashkae, what about your Smart? Can you go wapping 24/7 without worrying for your bill?

(well i hope this grasya can extend a bit longer)

Globe is cheaper with a touch of class. \"NOW YOU KNOW\" :-D

Posted by arnoldc
hmmm, subjective but here goes...

Smart's GPRS IS FULLY operational as far as i'm concerned. Their HSCSD was unplugged already as i've announced last year pa and they're not bragging about it.

Compare Smart and Globe billing BEFORE you say Globe is cheaper.

I'm a subscriber of both. And Globe customer service SUCKS! At least with Smart, my complaints are handled WELL.

YMMV

prepaid users

if you're a heavy txter, get smart...the more card you load, the more free txt you get (33 free txt for a 300peso smart call card)

if you're a heavy caller, get globe...its 3 pesos per min on globe to globe calls on OFF PEAK hours (10pm-8am & the whole Sunday)...globe only gives you a 50 free txt per month, regardless of how many & any amount of call card you load.

Just inquired with hub at rockwell. Globe has phased out the mobile phone of the year 4 2002, t68i. What a shame. But who can blame them? Nokia caters to the majority and that's where the money is. It's been 3 months from my last complaint with globe platinum. Its still under going investigation. Words are easy to say, actions hard to do. Don't say you'll call me back if you really won't. Globe, you made me feel what i usually do to girls i date when i was younger. Thanks for the karma. He he ;-)

i think they wont. well, i hope anyway!
i think that is why they have 2 APN's- one for wap, which is free; the other for web access, which is otherwise.

Well guys, ALL OF YOUR COMMENTS be it good and bad,I have already experienced.Free gprs surfing and downloads with globe.Fast connections with Smart.Lousy Customer service with Globe.Fast and well handled complaints with Smart CS(they really call you back).
Some of course uses globe/smart due to availability of signal.WELL GUYS, WALANG TATALO DITO SA EXPERIENCE KO!

In our town here in Tarlac, globe and smart cellsites are just a kilometer apart. My place is around 2-3 kilometers from the two cellsites.I have a smart postpaid and a globe prepaid.Well both served my gprs needs.Smart mms really works.Fast activation.Globe mms really sucks.Still not activated for a month. Now lately, I am sure, you all have heard in the news that last Jan.15, the globe cellsite here in our place and another globe cellsite too 8 kilometers from the site were set on fire simultanously by NPA rebels. The reason?FOR NOT PAYING REVOLUTIONARY TAXES.The globe cellsite was burned leaving the tower totally OFF for an indefinite period of time.Take note, the smart cellsite is around a kilometer away from globe and the digitel cellsite is not yet operational and it is beside globe.Smart was not targeted and Digitel.Imagine guys, no signal.Intermittent signal sometimes.Maximum is 2 bars and even with gprs signal, still I could not connect.A real torture for me.Sometimes I have to go literally 18 kilometers to the city proper just to use my free gprs when the need arises.Everyminute of the day is really a torture with globe. With smart,it is a bliss.
Anybody care to beat that?
Yes, there is no perfect network with all the technological factors. But when certain factors like these(rebels, politics, terrorism) arises and becomes a reality IN YOUR RESPECTIVE AREAS(I HOPE NOT),the loser of course is the telecom with the weak connections(all aspects considered) and the end consumer.Come to think of it guys, why was Smart and Digitel spared?

GUYS, PLEASE DO PRAY THAT THE ABOVE INCIDENT WOULD NOT HAPPEN IN YOUR RESPECTIVE AREAS.

@ynohtna i didn't know that.

Well, I'm glad Globe doesn't pay 'ransom' money to NPA rebels. Supporting terrorism in ANY form is NOT good for our country. You're just giving them more reasons to continue doing what they do!

The fact that Smart (& Digitel?) were spared means that they care more about profit than the good of the nation. It's a very selfish reason to say "Well, I don't care as long as I have signal!"... that's dumb, and very self-centered of Smart to do that.

It's bad enough our country is branded as a terrorist haven... but to actually support them... that's just making things worse for the future.

...and, considering Piltel/PLDT's business reputation... I wouldn't be surprised if they actually paid the NPA rebels to burn down Globe's celsites. Thugs... uncivilized thugs. (And I don't mean the NPA rebels! hehehehe)

..and neither did i know Smart supports NPA rebels!

i find gprs indispensable, i don't think i can live without gprs, but i guess other people are still not that mobile because they don't think gprs is important... just can't imagine. and by the way, fyi, gprs is not used for wapping only. you can use it to check and send email, sync ur pim's, connect all your im's anywhere, use mirc, basta anywhere far from your pc and etc. and again di lang siya for wap. well just an info for those na akala gprs is for wap only

@randy same here pare. buti na lang libre sa globe!

Posted by randyrivera
mario! ayos

anyone else here who doesn't use wap aside from rashkae?

Posted by jplacson
I use GPRS/WAP all the time. I usually use it for Sureseats. Helps a lot for movie sked and everything... specially when you're stuck in traffic. I find it funny how I can view LIVE traffic cams in NY & Paris (full streaming video) for free, meanwhile... I can only get low res still shots of local traffic cams!

Posted by arnoldc
@jplacson, if that's your experience fine. I am not pro Smart, I am telling you my experience. I respect yours, you respect mine. Kaya nga I said "as far as i'm concerned."

Posted by mariolouis
can't live without gprs anymore. hope globe does not know that!!! hehehe they might start charging.

@*anyone who works at Globe Quest: I am extremely dissatisfied with the customer relations skills of one MS.PHOEBE APARES. The nerve of her raising her voice at me while she can't even explain why a subscriber with an Advantage Plan could get a fully discounted 7650 and why a G-plan with an average bill of 1,500 couldn't even get a P 7500 discount.Very bad people skills indeed!
