A thread to discuss how lucky some people are to be non smokers.

This thread picks up where the old thread left off.

Old thread? Eh? I'm glad to be a non smoker these days. My mates really do my head in with their smoking now the ban is in place. Why do i have to suffer the wind and rain just so they can smoke. How about they don't smoke for a night and we sit inside the pub for a change...
Posted by psp476
I hate smoking, and the smell of the smoke! honestly I dont know what they find in those 'small, slow suicide machines'

Actually for once I felt lucky being a non-smoker as I just got back from Rileys (Snooker Club)... Usually it would be smokey and hard to breathe at this place but since the ban I guess its been all nice and clean as it was today although some people were still going to the toilets for the fag.
On the other hand I do feel sorry for the smokers and some organisations that might be losing a lot of money because of this ban.
I've been away for 3 months so I've just recently found out about the ban.. When I was myself smoking at a public place (even though im not a regular smoker)

@psp476
Agree with ya there!
@rule_breaker
You're a non-smoker and you smoke? The lowest form of non-smoker.
Posted by rule_breaker
well social smoker.. Once in a month or so?
Posted by Alexandra
Not good enough....................................................
Social smokers can be just as bad. When my mum makes me go to a "smoking party" a.k.a. the birthday of one of her slut nurses who look double their age, people who would not normally smoke will become smokers and because the outside door has to be kept open,i vomit 3 times in the night.
You people make smoking situations worse..you act as if ciggies are a treat like chocolate and a bag of salt 'n vinegar crisps.

I think this smokin ban has come in so companes can make loads of money off us from patches and other remedies. Its ridiculous!
If the government was so worried about our health why does it spend hundreds of millions on stupid things like space travel and defence when there are people dying everyday from curable diseases?
Its like, thousands of people die every year from road accidents but when there is a train crash its all over the news?
??
Posted by Alexandra
the bracks/brumby government are stagnant on those kind of things
And at the end of the year that bastard kevin rudd is goona come in
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Actually it can't be that bad, we survived the cain/kkirner government and the hawke/keating government
Posted by Alexandra
actually it can, businesses are gonna have to
- return unfair dismissal laws
- have to enter a collective bargianing agreement with a union
- recruit union memmbers
- provide employees with info about how to join a union
- let union officials go into our business and change anything they want
- re-employ workers that have been on strike
- Do anything the union wants you to do to your staff
- Tolerate the unions running your business
This means I will go out of business. My business is only developing games and paying a friend to sell them at school!
Posted by rule_breaker
I bought 2,000 Cigerrettes from Dubai Duty Freee.. And only smoked 2 of them
So you can guess how much of a smoker I am
Posted by Alexandra
Do you really think Brumby and his bitches need the extra money? I didn't think that stop smoking products were taxed. However, being a Labor government they'd probably tax everything. The only reason there is no blanket smoking ban is because they're raking in the $$$.
Oh well. There is still a blanket smoking ban in my room.

@rule breaker
That is two too many. Do you not get my point?

Before the ban on smoking in public buildings, I used to ride my bike through the city without once smelling cigarette smoke. Now I can't get away from it. I tell you it doesn't feel nice to be riding along and suddenly finding half my lung capacity gone. I'm glad I'm not a bike courier in the city, I'd be coughing my guts up all day long.
It seems that with the ban I'm actually exposed to more 2nd hand smoke than before the ban!!

Agree with ya there Maxy.

I hate cigarretes!

Who is responsible 4 increasing the power of drugs day by day? 1. Government 2. People 3. Smokers.
Posted by Alexandra
Yeah smokers are evil.
Posted by max_wedge
I get the feeling you don't like smokers?
I don't mind people smoking, but I think people who don't want to be exposed to it shouldn't have to isolate themselves just to get away from it.
Overall I probably agree with no smoking in public places.

Well, just to add my two cents worth, I feel that smokers are entitled to smoke as much as they like. The problem is when their smoking affects the people around them. I used to dislike smokers a lot and at that time I didn't have any friends who smoked. These days, I've got friends who smoke and though I'm concerned about their health, I'm pretty much neutral about them lighting up when I'm with them. Most of them are really decent about it and would find areas that are away from the crowds to smoke in. Some of them actually feel bad about affecting others with their smoke. I actually feel sorry about them having more and more restrictions on where they can smoke and that in a way, it is actually kinda unfair to them I guess.
Posted by Alexandra
You know what I hate?
They always go 'the government is being like the Nazis because they are stopping us from smoking'. They never think that the 80% of people in this world who do NOT smoke don't want their lungs destroyed by passive smoking.
I find Smokers to be an aggressive and intolerent bunch who never take kindly to being told what to do, and have zero respect for the rights/views of non-smokers just so long as they can abate their addiction!

By the way, that second paragraph was Mweb's quote.

Yeah my dad was once crashed by a drunk driver b4 I was born.
Posted by batesie
i'm sorry to hear that. smoking is a bad habit but everyone has there faults and we shouldnt judge them for those things.
maybe we should have a non-drinkers thread (would probably be empty!)
Posted by Alexandra
there is me
I can tolerate drinking, as long as its not 'getting drunk' drinking
EDIT: Don't worry, my dad wasn't hurt

I'm also a non-smoker, in fact I've never tried a cigarette in my entire life, and I'm 22 years old. I like this thread!
p.s. The same thing with alcohol, hope I'm not the only one here.

this mentioning of "nazis" again, makes me really sick... i highly doubt its the right way to make a comment incl an apart of german history and actually its pointless to spread the same things again and again about smokers...

Why?
Posted by Alexandra
I think that smokers should get a 'smoking place' with an airlock, where refreshements are served by smoking staff.
By the way, if you live with non-smokers (especially children), make your house + car smokefree. I just HATE IT when I see a mother smoking in her car with her children inside. Those type of people are unfit to BE mothers.

Lucky. That word is an understatement. To be a non smoker is more than being lucky, its being blessed.

Your type always complains about how not being able to smoke takes away your civil liberties. What about the 12,000 people your type kills PER YEAR in THE USA ONLY just because you're intolerant and just want to abate your addiction regardless of what others think.
Posted by BobaFett
my question was very simple, but seems u cant let it to talk "in average" about smokers... i am a well behaved guy, i do respect all non smokers too.. but at the end it doesnt matter, cos u just say the same thing without listening or even give a trust for a "smokers" word...
and thats also a kind to be "intolerant", just as the wrong behavior of some smokers...
