Thanks for your replies so far.
Right I've deleted the camdriver0.dat file from the phone completely. Software version still shows 2.5, camera still works fine, pics look the same.
This is an 02 locked phone, latest firmware but I assume there's some locks still on there. Would this be a problem?
Posted by tranced
nop, this has nothing to do with the locks on your phone.

What happened, bro? Still can't post anything?

Here i come, 5.0 camdriver:
- Fix low light condition to default setting with 8 FPS
- Increase normal light condition FPS to 35
- Different ISO setting when changing EV value for normal, portrait, twilightportrait and document mode for flash.
- Change video recording FPS to 15 to reduce zooming bug
- Saturation of colour 0a
- Fix WB changing bug and twilightportrait WB when flash on
- Fine - 90% compression, normal - 80% compression
- Turn on AF-LED for document mode when night
When FLASH ON:
0.0EV
Normal mode - ISO320
Twilightportrait mode - ISO400
Portrait mode - ISO250
Document mode - ISO100
-1.0EV
Normal mode - ISO250
Twilightportrait mode - ISO320
Portrait mode - ISO200
Document mode - ISO100 ( reduce exposure )
-2.0EV
Normal mode - ISO160
Twilightportrait mode - ISO250
Portrait mode - ISO125
Document mode - ISO100 ( reduce exposure )
+1.0EV
Normal mode - ISO400
Twilightportrait mode - ISO500
Portrait mode - ISO320
Document mode - ISO160
+2.0EV
Normal mode - ISO500
Twilightportrait mode - ISO500
Portrait mode - ISO400
Document mode - ISO250
Now you can enjoy changing the flash ISO value by just changing the EV value
Download here:
http://www.4shared.com/file/3[....]399c0b/camdriver0_50_gnus.html
Finally i can post it out, just have a try on it, got any bug tell me

Here is some pics with portrait mode:

One question did you change ISO settings for pics without flash ??

genus, when u say "with FLASH ON", do u mean by activating the flash or when the flash is fired? Cuz the pictures are all ISO 80 in normal mode for me.
Posted by kuratinja
ok...more review please.......what is the difference with kop 3.71 ? and how about the video fps ??
Posted by genus
Yup, it work only when flash fire. But now still have some problem...colour enhance i off it ( will let it work back on 5.1 ), and wrong exposure calculation ( will fix it ).
Plz note that the ISO setting will work only when flash fire.
I cannot do the ISO manual setting when flash off, it cause wrong exposure calculation and the picuture not good, because i need to off the auto AE if do like this. But in other way, k850i can do this.

Hi to all

compration but when i see the taken photo in computer i see the K800 is loser ;-(
i send some sample photo with this two phone :
K800i
N73
K800i
N73
I hope the modders , mod a good camdriver for K800 and in feuture i win the compration.
( i'm sorry about my bad english )

I'd recommend for people to stop posting pictures of the outdoors. Everybody knows the camdriver can take decent pictures in broad daylight, hell, even the original one is just as good.
Where the mods really shine is indoors in bad lighting - so take more of those and don't cram the thread with useless "tests" of camdrivers with outdoor pictures, because they prove nothing.
Just my 2 cents.
Edit: Oh oops.. one more thing, perhaps an exception may be macro shots, I see the N73/K800i comparison above really shows that the N73 autofocus is a lot better than the k800i's... but Nokia is known for artificial colouring.

i'd rather look @ really nice outdoor pics than shitty indoors 1's, the k800i is rubbish in low light and theres nothing that can be done about that, no modded k800i driver has noise reduction cos the k800i shutter speed command is unknown.

@genus:
i prefer contrast 4
-0.3 is better @ daylight outside.
inside i have to test it.
Posted by genus
Increase contrast to 01 is better for outside picture, but it is not good when flash fire. Mayb i will increase contrast as done by number1 but not hwne flash fire
Besides that, wat sharpness setting you all prefer? I saw n82 ( i think is about 06 ) was very sharp than k850i, but i dont know is that more jigger will come out. For me, i do think that too much jpeg compression will give jigger and noise. Wat is your opinion?
I now testing the sharpness setting, i do found that there is not much related to the noise for the sharpness, but the important key for noise is jpeg compression. For example, i found that if the ISO increase, the jpeg compression will auto jump back to 80%, but when ISO decrease, will become 90-95%.

@genus:
i would not increase the contrast.
look of white parts if pics, you see that the white is overload when contrast is 1.
i find, that 4 for contrast is the best conpromiss, 3 should also be OK.
Now, i'm trying your 5.0 driver. Great work, now it would be nice, if you implement the iso change @flash off.
You understand your work.
Keep on, great work.
[ This Message was edited by: burner8 on 2007-12-02 13:29 ]

5.0 is still not good when you set the ISO setting for flash fire, the +-EV value will effect the picture, so i will fix this in 5.1.
Contrast will give better colour as i test it:
contrast 01
No contrast, 00
As you can see on the colour of chair.
Posted by burner8
your post pictures show no big differences.
It can be that your other changes give contrast 1 better effect.
All tested driver with contrast 1 i've tested, give a overload white.
can you please post an other pic?
Posted by genus
Wait my place here night now, cant test for daylight, i also wan to knw the result, especially for sky.
Because this time i increase contrast then set auto AE, hope there will be different.
Seem that not much different in noise... so i will use sharpness 04 better.

k850i uses a sharpness setting of 00 , pics are sharper cos it's got 1.8 more megapixels, increasing contrast to 01 makes the exposure worse, and higher sharpness doesn't cause more noise but it does also sharpen the noise aswell
also the n73 are horrible they look like sharper versions are these taken with a vga cam lol

Maybe the N73 photos is more sharp but i think the colors in N73 is more real in compare with K800i . K800 take the photos more yellow wish .
I like soo more K800 and i cant see N73 take the good photos .
When we download your latest camdriver ?
( I hope in that we have the real colors in KING K800 )
thanks of your mods

n73 pics are horrible my old 2.89 driver will beat any nokia pics,

i would need the optimal compression codes for all size and quality. Anyone found them yet? 1mp fine/normal, 2mp fine/normal etc. I am trying to do something but need your help. plz post codes from your driver. With compression from 3.71 (original) i got 800KB+ size for almost all pictures. Anything better (because 3.71 uses "100%" comp - and we know its not true).
also 2.2 from gprsman uses same compressions. so plz need help

Meh, well if there is nothing that can be done, no point in modding camdrivers, is there? Outdoor performance is practically the same amongst all the drivers, modded or unmodded. Perhaps a modded camdriver may benefit from sharpness settings and faster autofocus in the dark, but other than this, I don't see any other reasons to make modifications to the K800i's camera. It's unfortunate the shutter speed command is unknown!
Edit: One more thing, I am actually looking forward to your next release number1 - I like how your settings handle the "interpolation" of the camera and the pictures don't come out as ugly. From what I said in your thread, I hope the next driver has fast focusing in the dark like in Kopritis's and a great macro.

Hi, I donwloaded this driver. Thx very much kotripis, but i have a problem here, or at least, what I identify as a problem, but maybe is normal.
When I´m taking a pic or record a vid in other mode than "portrait", I always put the phone in "natural" position (vertical), and I took the pic this way, but when I am reviewing the pic in the archive folder, it appears in wide mode, as i´ve took the pic with phone in horizontal position, and I have to turn it clockwise to correct it. This does not happen in "portrait" mode. Is this normal ? I find it very annyoning.
Thank you.
