I just downloaded the Yahoo Go! java application on K800i (with the latest firmware) and it worked great! The GUI and navigation are superb and smooth. Now I can check email, map, news, weather, etc where ever I go. Additionally, in the email, I could change the setting to "push email". Great! again.

I just downloaded from the link below. I typed the link on my phone browser and follow the instruction. Anybody have the same experience?

I installed this on my K810i last week and my BB 8100. It runs a little slowly on the latter handset, but can't fault it on the K810i!

anyone can provide the jar file??? because the version for P990 is not out yet...

Excellent application. Along with Gmail and Opera Mini, this Yahoo! GO makes my K810 more powerful.

So how did you get this to install & download?

I just pointed my browser to the link above and clicked Get It Now at the bottom and it simply downloaded the application. It automatically recognised my location, Indonesia and I got news in Indonesian too. A friend of mine whose K800i is still in R1JG001 firmware, with Java ver.7.3 simply COULDN'T download Yahoo!Go. It may require newer Java engine.

Yes. Do you have the latest firmware? Yahoo would recognize or identify your phone from what region and what firmware. If you see the "Download" word then it would work with the phone.

Let us know if that work.

I try and result is :

Your Sony Ericsson K800i
needs the lastest phone
sofware ( firmware ) to run Yahoo Go 2.0

Please ask your carrrier or phone manifacturer how to upgrade your phone to the lastest firmware ( R1KC or higher ) .

tks man

@chadiwrx the result is :

"The application uses too much memory"

RAM is small .

My SW is R1JG001 .

Posted by aremaboy
That's why I suggest that you update the firmware to R1KG001 as it has the newer Java engine version, that is 7.4.

I can't help but note: while the majority of people in this forum are happy with the application, the S60 users (prodigits forum) have much higher expectation and view YahooGO as 'rubbish' java nonsens. That says something about the quality of software offered on the 2 platforms. No wonder S60 is where it is and java . . .

I find it funny how such a mature smartphone such as S60 fails at running common Java Apps properly even current 3rd Edition SP1 devices. Now, again you're comparing smartphone to a normal platform phone. I also find it funny how easy it is for coders to port an S60 app to UIQ3 than vice versa being so difficult?

Hmm.

Hmm . . . I ain't so sure there is much to be ported 'vice versa' As for the java running better on a non s60 device then on a s60 am not so sure either. If you know a bit of java and bother to check the 'underlying routines' you should know they are (have to be) exactly the same to ensure the java language definition and protocols. (ofcourse the display and sound will be somewhat different - have to be adapted to the different devices after all)

@Prom1,

That's not quite true the reason most S60 users slated this version is we were spoilt with version 1 and 1.5 that first appeared on the N73 and really was an excellent app that not only gave real push E-Mail. But also allowed full Calendar Sync and and uploading directly to Yahoo photos or Flickr whilst this JAVA version offers some good features such as the carousel and Weather it is no where near as good IMHO and others. Also a word of caution this app can tend to try and continuously hold a live connection so watch your Data charges if not on an unlimited plan is my advice. Oh and by the way it runs perfectly on many S60 devices its just that we think it is crap and pretty useless compared to what else we have available.

Also everything this offers can be achieved in a better way on a S60 device Mobile Weather for instance is a free app that gives Yahoo Weather for your local location not just by City as well as running multiple locations and can be configured to either auto update or manual update. Direct Flickr uploads are easy and simple once you download the app, Syncing of Calendar and Outlook information can easily be achieved via Mobical. That is why S60 users are less than impressed by the latest version of YahooGo but if it works and you like it fine use it.

Marc
