I opened up a 64mb memory stick pro duo, sandisc, which came with my dad's k750...To my surprise i only found one very small component. Its smaller then half the size of the casing. This does not make sense at all,why make the casing so big when it can be small.here: i apologize for the bad picture quality.

Nope empty plastic with a small chip.

Buuuuuuut I also opened a old P900 16Mb Pro duo card and it has a bigger chip.

SO I conclude that with technology, they decreased the size of the actuall chip but then kept the old housing so it could comply with the devices card slot, sort of like an adapter!

Ps all Nokio branded cards have Samsung chips!!

@786KBR Just what i had in mind.lol, samsung chips...

Does the memory card still work?

Yup,the 64mb memory card still works a 100%

Here is a pic of a 512MB stick. Who uses a little 64mb anyways! From the looks it is exactly the size that needs a cover like that. And anybody cares to open up a 4gb or even 8gb stick.

Doubtful that such sticks have inside a chip just 'half the size'.

I opened a Sandisk card. Im not gonna open even a 1Gig!
Ps the purple Sony 16Mb Pro duo that came in the old P900 has a chip like the 512 on the left!

yes, as long as old models like mine (S700i) are still in the market.

there are 2GB and 4GB M2 cards, so I wouldn't be surprised at all if the MSDP chips for 4GB cards are as small as the 64MB above.

I ain't opening my 2GB to find out.

Looking back at the first-pic-upload . . . it looks like an: MSD card and that of the M2 card - side by side !

Mine was already partially open.

damn, i dont wanto to do it. i shall then

ill let you know later

Yeah you will have to break it open.

It just has various components, as to advances, the size of the memory chips will go down. Hence why we have the M2 cards which, i think could go up to 32GB i think.

Sandwiching of the memory modules is how these cards can keep increasing in size.
