Hi guys,

I was just wondering how many of you use your phones as your primary mp3 players.

I think the quality with phone mp3's out know there is no diffrence from a dedicated mp3 player. The acuostics are great.

So how many of you use your phones?

Hi all,

I have been using my devices as my portable Music player for nearly a Year now and have even recently upgraded my headphones for a better pair. There is no way i would consider buying a stand alone player now as besides meaning having to carry an extra bit of kit it would increase the chance of missing phone calls. If i wasn't getting such good results there is no way i would listen to over 3hrs a day of Music on it.

Marc

My phone, but thats partly because I havent got an ipod

Since getting the 950i and HBH-DS970 My has sat in my desk drawer!

I think that statement more than satisfactorily answers the question in hand!

replaced my 3g ipod (the last true classic ipod) with my W850 and looking at the W960 when its out. sound wise, I can't tell the difference between the two devices and the phone works great for my needs now.

i miss the w550i i had for a while, the sound......brill and the speakers were loud

I've used ine since getting the K750 and using W800 firmware the day it came out. Never bought/used a stand alone player since.

I use my K750 since I bought it. Thinking on getting an hpm-64 earphones soon and a 4GB card as my 2GB is nearly full ...

I've had P990 and now got a W950 - greatest phone/player ever. I use it as a player and will not get another mp3 player. W950 is a great combination of MP3/Phone. I was really bored with P990 lately...And you can get W950 very cheap these days. W960 is a great device, but I am sure the price is going to be quite high when released.

I sold my dedicated mp3 player a year ago, as soon as I bought my K750i. Of course I also bought 1 GB MSPD to go with it. Since then I use my K750i as a dedicated mp3 player.

Sony Ericssons can play a lot of hours of music even if they are on, can't they? How often do you charge your phone when you use it as a music player too? I'm concerned about a dying battery when on the road, cause not always have we the oportunity to charge our phones.
(Wish those universal wireless chargers were out and in the public )

I've always used my phones (W900, then K800, now Nokia N95) as my main music player. I had an iPod nano, and the sound was nowhere near as good as any of the phones I've used. The iPod sounds too compressed to me.

I have an iPod but use my K800i, because the sound quality is slightly better and it's not apple

My V630i is my primary music player with my laptop a distant second. I charge the phone every second day. I also have an MMC-60 cable which I use occasionally.

Me.
I have two Walkman Phones : W950 with 4GB internal memory and W880 with 1GB M2. I always bring those 2 phones but uses only HPM-82 from W950 and sometimes with HBH-DS970.

Well I have NO home stereo for the last 2 yrs and its been KILLING me.

Last year I used my W810 as solidly as my portable music player as possible. almost 4hrs sometimes 5hrs per day.

Currently I have a K790a + 1GB M2 card. I've been digging for a decent retail outlet for pricing on the HPM-70's or 72's to no avail; thus everyday listening is now a weekly listening adding to my stress.

Future purchases:

HPM-70/72's
DS980's
MBW-150 Classic.
4GB M2 card.
The new Stereo speaker system.
Apple MBP & Logitech speaker system for the living room - at least speaker system will stay UNTIL SE release me some BOOMING system with 5 speakers ... something to MATCH the W960!

hehe, catch my drift.

6mths ago I discounted the Walkman phone as a competitor to the iPod.
Now its a direct competition and this years sales WILL show slight gain of mindshare with 1st qtr of fiscal 2008 market share of 5% for the entire range of lineup.

Yeah I do. It means one less thing to charge when I get home. It's the convenience factor.

count me in! already sold my stand alone mp3 player in favor of my k610/hpm-70 combo. need to upgrade for a larger capacity m2, though.

for journeys less than 2 hours i'll just use my phone, but i still use my dedicated walkman in the car or for longer journeys

btw, welcome ejayer!

iv'e been using my phone as a music player as far back as the Siemens SL45i which cam with a 32Mb SD card and i could squeeze 10-15 tracks at a time on it... which was better than carrying around a Discman anyway!

but until phones reach 20Gb+ capacity i cant see them totally replacing my Sony Walkman....

I've owned both a k750i and a w810i, with hpm-70 and a 1gb mspd. To be honest, the sound quality of Sony Ericsson phones isnt up to that of a dedicated mp3 player.

I am currently using a Creative Zen Vision: M, which sounds stunning, compared to my w810i. It plays DivX movies (a huge bonus over the phones 3gp only support)

For many people, I can see a phone being used as an mp3 player is quite sufficient, but not myself.

I can't speak of the likes of the w950i, or newer walkman phones, as I havn't experienced their playback quality. For my use, having the bulk of a seperate mp3 player and phone is acceptable.

i have always used my phone instead of my ipod since i bought k750 and i have also used w800, w550, w810, w850, n73, w880 and now i use w950

Posted by whentheleveebreaks
absolutely not. I tried it a couple of times, once on my n95 and once on a walkman phone, both times i found the experience and sound quality really quite poor in comparison to my ipod. Plus i have 50gb of music which wont fit on a phone for quite a while i think

i've been using my k750 as mp3 player for always and as a camera also

Posted by WhiteEye
I use both K750i and M600i. One has better MegaBass, another has better interface.

I use my W810i as my primary music player. I also own 2 small Creative mp3 players as well, but they are spare ones.

i sold my mp3 player and my cd player for my k750 and now w850...its enuff for me

Posted by umerhayat
I also use my w810i as primary mp3 player. Although it has draw backs like dedicated music players have better sound quality and due to music, browsing and texting battery is always low and can miss important calls some times due to empty battery

If my K750 had a 3.5mm jack or bluetooth support for A2DP, I'd definitely do away with my dedicated mp3 player. But as it is, I'm using a Sony Network Walkman, NW-E002, brilliant sound quality. As much as I'd prefer to have an all-in-one device, it isn't actually too much of a hassle to carry the tiny mp3 player around.

I use only hpm 70...hehe

Got an 80gb ipod video but it hardly ever gets used as its much easier just to take my phone out with me to school etc

Posted by bombadil
I have been using my SE W800i for more than a year now, migrating from the older ipod shuffle

Posted by Jenova
I guess i'm the one left, for me my k800 is enough

I stopped using my phone as a primary music device ever since the P990, as it has a rather poor volume level.

However, before the P990, I was even having my old Creative Zen Touch as my primary player for music, and sometimes my old P900 warrior
