Yeah think im a little paranoid...lol
It just seems the top half is slightly looser than the bottom.
Posted by masseur
lol. paranoid is the word I was looking for! I even asked my wife and explained in great detail what I was trying to express and she couldn't even come up with that word that I wanted.
but seriously, I don't think its worth worrying too much as even if you go to all the trouble of getting it replaced its probable it will end up the same, and I fully expect mine to do the same
Posted by masseur
btw, I loaded up the TomTom and gave the GPS a try tonight and its a much better performer than the N95. First initial lock achieved within a minute
Posted by J273
Not tried mine yet.....Ive tried it on my trinity which i believe has the same GPS chip which i was impressed with...The kaiser has the Quick GPS app though dont it?
Ill load tomtom on mine a little later.

yeah, I did run the quick GPS first which downloads satellite info via a data connection rather than direct from the satellites which apparantly does speed things up

thanks for the pics mass

did a bit more testing on the GPS this morning.
You get TomTom on the CD that comes with it but its what they call a starter edition meaning you can download one area (city) to trial it and then you have to buy more maps if you want more.
The GPS locked on in less than a minute making it so much better than the N95 which just frustrated the hell out of me
Many of you already know the tom tom software but I've had little experience with it as I use my Garmin 670 for navigation normally. I was quite suprised at how easy the software was to use whil walking.
As expected though, the GPS sucks battery so you would probably only want to use this for a quick walking route while on battery or while connected to power in the car

What are the pictures from the 3MP auto-focus camera like in comparison to other brands at about the same spec camera? I think if I get one of these it'll be used as my browser phone and when I get a K850 that'll be for my picture and general mobile phone use, but I'd still like a 3MP auto-focus camera module to be good on the second phone.

here's a pic I took late yesterday afternoon out of my office window

tested the gps with google maps, which is available as a native WM program rather than using the generic java version, last night and they work perfectly together. very nice
Posted by J273
Do you prefer it to your P1i then masseur?

not sure yet, but the decision is getting harder when so much of my bought WM5 stuff works on WM6!
Posted by J273
Yeah all the apps ive tried work fine....I think WM6 is mainly a new front end though.
Its like going from Xp to Vista.

vodafone are now showing the TyTN II on their web site as v1615
Posted by ofiaich
Hi masseur!
Do you know if Vodafone have a habit of changing and spoiling the firmware of devices like the TyTn and TyTn II ?
I am due an upgrade on Vodafone and am not knowledgable about upgrading ROMS !
Ofiaich
Posted by masseur
yeah, vodafone customise quite a bit according to the guy who sits next to me at work has their version of the original TyTN and he is always complaining about it.
can't remember specifics that he complains about as I tend to tune out from him a bit!
Posted by ofiaich
thanks masseur,
That's useful to know. I will watch the Vodafone site and keep an eye for it in the stores.
The only reason I stay with Vodafone is that their Passport rates are excellent for me when I am in Japan.
Good weekend for you!

@masseur, just a little thought, i used tweak 2k on my wm6 atom life for multiple browsing, its fully compatible with wm6, u may want to give it a try mate, anyway, i use opera 8.6 for my default browser, saves a lot of kb!

Hi everyone!
Any further views on the HTC - TyTN II i.e. performng as expected or even better ?
battery life, applications etc !
thinking to sell my W950i to part fund a TyTn II...
Ofiaich !
Posted by masseur
Battery performance is not as good as I remember on the original TyTN and they have not increased capacity even though it now has GPS to deal with.
Other than that its good to be back on a WM device again and I have so far found no faults with the new tilt mechanism or the device in general
Posted by ofiaich
Hi masseur!
thanks for your reply...
I know it depends on what you use your TyTn II for... but do you need to charge every day ?
Ofiaich
Posted by masseur
well, I'm using the GPS alot (just messing about though on the train in google maps or live search maps watch the sattelite view as I go up and down the train line)
on my N95 I never played much with the GPS as it was just too frustrating waiting for a lock
so yes, at the mo I need to charge daily!
Posted by ofiaich
thanks masseur,
I was searching for some screen shots of the TyTn II showing Google Maps but no luck as yet.
I will try again this morning. Have you taken any screen shots showing Google Maps?
edit : found some here

Hi all,
For anyone considering this device especially on VodaFone i would advise having a read @ the Expansys Forum of some of the issues some seem to be having the battery life is definitely one though. The rest seems quite positive though the link is here

@ofiaich, here are a couple of screen shots (from map and satellite views) of my office location
Posted by batesie
looks good with the satelitte view!
Posted by masseur
looks even better sitting on the train with the GPS on and watching the satellite view move with you and seeing the same scenery go by outside the window.
sucks data like crazy though!

for comparison with google maps, here are the similar "live search" maps

@masseur
how do u compare this to the p1 as far as size and weight?
i have a p1 too and i know u do aswell now alongwith this new htc device.
I am planing on getting this aswel. Any comments from u?
Posted by masseur
they are approx the same width and length byt TyTN II is a little thicker (of course!)
Weight wise if I hold themin each hand you can slightly feel the difference but its not like your arm or hand will get tired! here is a post I made yesterday in another thread giving my thoughts about the weight
here's a post from a couple of pages back in this thread with photos comparing the P1 and TyTN

@ masseur
thank you for your reply
wat are the differences (feature wise) between the p1 and this htc phone?
and do you think their will be a price drop by november? i wana get me one for my birthday!
Posted by jakontil
hi masseur, how do you compare the battery between the P1i and Tytn II, in accordance to your usage? i mean, with the same amount of usage, how long does P1i and TytnII last respectively?
Posted by masseur
@tonyitalian, feature wise not alot I suppose except for the GPS and the operating system. I would expect the price to be 10-15% cheaper by November (my birthday too!)
@jakontil, can't really say as I always charge my batteries when I get home each day.
I'm not one of these people who feels thay need to break records with battery endurance!
I can say that with a couple of hours data usage, probably 30 mins calls, some contact lookups, send a few emails, auto check for emails every 10 mins from 7am to 6pm etc the P1 battery falls to about 60-65% at the end of the day.
can't really say about the TyTN II yet because, as I mentioned, I'm still playing alot and am not using doing normal usage... sorry

Mobility Today review (video review)
Posted by ofiaich
Hi!
Am I correct in thinking that only the supplied earphones can be used?
I can't keep those, shown in the TyTnII pdf, in place!!
I was also searching for a good site that explains more about Windows Mobile 6 Professional.
I would want to setup an account, in Outlook, that connects to the Microsoft Exchange Server.
I can acccess my account through a web based address but cannot successfully send Japanese langauge emails to Japanese mobile devices. Japanese PC/notebooks are OK.
But I can do when using Outlook 2007 on my PC or VAIO...
This aspect is the most imprortant issue for me. I am also aware that using Vodafone to do this could also be very expensive and data charges would mount up.
Any advice appreciated.

the headset that comes with TyTN II are similar to those that come with TyTN in that they fit the mini-USB socket. However you can buy a mini-USB to 3.5mm standard socket adaptor so you can use any normal headphones
naturally you can connect your TyTN to an exchange server, though its not something I do myself.

can the extra tomtom maps be downloaded/purchased straight from the handset?
Posted by masseur
no, unfortunately not.
in any case individual areas are not worth the price. much better just to buy the western europe DVD and get the lot at once
Posted by ofiaich
Hi!
anyone know of a shop where I can walk in and buy the TyTn II?
I am in Yorkshire,
