CID49 camera against CID36 camera - what Differences?

I want to swap a CID 49 camera for the older CID 36 camera. I want to do the same - but when buying a camera module:how can I be shure to buy a CID36 camera?

I want to do this due to quality issues. Take fotos with macro: nearly the same. Take Landscape pics and you see the difference.

Are there any differences or serial numbers? How can I distinguish between CID49 and CID36 camera modules?

Thanks for help!

As far as I know there's no difference in camera modules, they are identical - I've swapped many a module with no discernible difference in photo quality!

Any differences there might be would be dependent on firmware versions, not the module itself.

The camera as a hardware part is the same. The only difference may be the firmware and mostly the camera driver.

I cant agree with that: Take a landscape shot and then see the different in sharpnes. Close shots are good in both new and old phones...

Some folks here have changed the cam module from CID49 phone to the old CID36 phone: digitl 4x zoom works again and picture quality improved.

Here are picture one guy sent me who did it:

OLD cam - CID36

NEW cam - CID49

indeed. the cid49 camera is worst than the cid36. the cid49 has more noise.

The digital zoom is firmware dependent, it could just be that there is a bit of variation in the quality control of the units.

But does anybody know how to really and sfe distinguish between the CID49 and CID39 cam except the missing small parts??

Damn, I thought they are completely the same... Sorry it's my mistake after all . But I don't get the point of producing the same phones with different new CID which has worse camera than the old one...

in the pictures we can easily see that the CID49 cam misses a lot of "chips". could this be the reason of the poor quality of the photos?

holy moly - why have I not recognized this ... seem I work too long/much??
THX - Thatīs it...
THERE IS A SIGNIFICANT DIFFERENCE ... not only in quality.
best regards,
Chris

really?!?!?! you didnt notice it?

8-(( ... I was just staring on the figures printed on them late late in the night. But now I did it - I changed the cam from CID49 back to CID36 version:

See the results: better overall quality, see details far away, full 4x zoom in fine quality. Sony-Ericsson, what have you done to the CID49 cam module... SHAME on you!!!

all pictures done with Sarmadīs 5.7 driver (sharpness 4)

CID49

CID36

auto

4x zoom

Now I will test if colour-correction for CID49 has to be removed...

No its not, its down to the hardware.

Flash a CID 49 phone thats been nobbled by SE with a firmware that has zoom & then try & use it, the zoom wont work correctly & you cant even save pictures with any zoom effect.

But do a straight swop from a CID 49 camera on a nobbled K750I to a CID 36 camera & using the same software & drivers that only had 1 x zoom on largest picture setting with CID 49 camera & you get a perfect 4 x zoom working with the CID 36 camera.

Everyone is correct on the cam modules! SE pulled a fast one at K800 launch, so that K750 wouldn't rob K800's sales! Hence cheaper module/non-zoom firmware.......

.....and some still think SE aren't all about the money these days.....thankfully, we know better, and can counteract their sneaky shenanigans.....

Yes I have changed my cid49 cam to cid36 (zoom works) but in quality I don't see difference (useing sarmad 5.7 for k750 CID36 driver). I have k750i flashed to w800. Maybe change firmware? Any ideas? Thank you
