Pro Duo memory card in a K750i

Hi - I just did a very daft thing and bought a 4GB pro duo for my K750i on eBay without checking compatability. I don't want to break the packaging to test it in case I have to return it - is there no way the 4GB pro duo ever works? I'm not sure that the one I bought isn't a fake too! Seller had great feedback and so I thought I was safe.They'd listed item as 4GB SONY MEMORY STICKS PRO DUO CARDS 4G PSP W850i K750i so I'd assumed it ws compatible without checking. Doh!

welcome to Esato

I've posted more times that I can remember that 4gb pro duo IS compatible with K750, so fear not.

@masseur,

has this been tested ? at the time i bought a 1GB MS Duo Pro for my K750i, i was told this was the largest it would get and the seller would not guarantee the success of putting a 2GB card into it.

If so, damn i should have followed my gut instinct and bought the 2GB available at the time !

here is a search showing some of my previous posts on this question

Great !!! ... but damn too !!! should 've gotten the 2GB card when i had that chance !

Well, now considering to buy the W960 when it comes out so it doesn't make much sense to get a 4GB anymore...

Masseur is right .

I'm using a 4 GB in my W810.

well, on newer models like W810, i would have said that it was possible for sure, but on my K750, i wasn't sure it would support the newer 1GB+ cards. The Sony Center seller in Bkk told me 2GB wasn't guaranteed to work so i went for 1GB... Anyway, i plan to get the W960i when it comes out so memory size will be a problem of the past...

Have you tried the card yet? Being from Ebay, you could have a fake......

I have a genuine 4gig Sony pro duo card in my K750I & it works fine, apart from the slow start up time from the phone being switched off.

The bigger the memory card the longer the phone will take to start up.

Hi...

I know that W810 theoretical supports 8 GB MSPD and "FAT32". But have any tried it?

Any MSD Pro capable device can theoretically support up to 32GB MSDP cards. (most devices can only read partitions up to 2GB when formatted with fat16, so as long as a card is formatted in fat32 then 8GB will be supported)

However I haven't actually tried it. That said, when the K750 was released SE claimed it only supported up to 1GB (because at the time 2GB wasn't available yet), yet we have had many reports (as masseur said at the beginning of this thread) of 4GB working in K750.

So I would find it hard to believe that W810 won't support 8GB MSDP

@max wedge…

That’s my conclusion to. I will try buying one. Think it will make it slow browsing music-files, but 8 GB will be so cool. Thanks…

Hi

Like ive said before ive got a pro duo 4GB card in my K750I

The only times you will notice the slowness of the larger 4GB card is when:

Switching the phone on, about 70 seconds for it to boot up & get to pin or flight mode screen ( dont try & fool it by removing the card, waiting for the phone to boot & then putting the card back in, you still end up waiting the same 70 seconds )

When you first open the media player, it takes a good 20 seconds to read all the information on the card.

Other then that the 4GB cards work fine.
