Yeah but they've probably got most of the money they'll get out of the Xbox 360 exclusivity, and I guess they've seen the opportunity to make a bit more money out of it. Thats always the way with game companies.

@Keiki, I played the demo of Jericho long time ago..quite liked it. But for horror games..I suggest Condemned 2 : Bloodshot...its miles ahead of Jericho.

Weird, I thought the 40GB PS3 (which I have) was made cheaper through removing the chip or whatever that allows it to play PS2 games. So they removed the hardware that makes it possible, but the software they are replacing it with probably cost just as much to develop! It seems pretty stupid... Stupider than you'd expect Sony is.
The 40GB version was a cut-cost version with a few things removed so the price would be more attractive. I hope they can add it back in, but I doubt its going to happen.
Here's proof:
"The 40 GB model has two USB ports instead of the four USB ports on other models, and does not include a multi memory card port, SACD support, or any backwards compatibility with PlayStation 2 titles. I think its software emulated support like 80gig version. The 80 gig is also dont have Graphic Synthesizer.

I thought the 80GB and 60GB both had inbuilt hardware to play PS2 games, not so much software emulation. As cool as this would be for my 40GB, I don't believe they'll do it - They won't earn much money from it and I bet it would cost them a ton. I don't think Sony is THAT devoted to its users.
EDIT: Oh I see, you're right. I didn't even read my own source properly! Well in that case, I retract all my previous comments and say bring it on! Can't wait.

Well Sony removed update 2.40 due to it bricking several PS3s. Did this happen to anyone round here? Not many PS3 owners here anyway...
I think it only bricked them during the updating process, so if you're through that then you're safe. But of course you can't update now because it has been pulled!

Bricking means your PS3 becomes useless. Or dead. That is it doesn't do anything or respond to anything you do.
There are very few games that support trophies right now, but soon every new release game will support them. Some already released games like Burnout Paradise will be patched to support them soon. The only game to support trophies as of now is Super Stardust™ HD.
Games to be released soon with support for trophies are: LittleBigPlanet, MotorStorm Pacific Rift, NBA 09, PixelJunk Eden, Resistance 2, and SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs Confrontation.
To be patched soon: Uncharted Drake's Fortune and Burnout Paradise.

it causes some trouble.
whenever you PS is frozen, you can remove your HD attach it to a pc format the disk (beware will lose demos/movies/SAVE games)

Ok, firstly, the 2.40 update has been removed so nobody can go updating to it directly from Sony anymore.
And secondly, if you have already updated and nothing went wrong, then you are safe. The only danger is during the updating process.
So it is completely fine to use the 2.40 update if you have already updated to it, but if you come across a 2.40 update file then you should avoid it just in case.

Did you notice anything at all? I figure 2.41 is just 2.40 without the PS3 bricking glitch. I won't waste my broadband allowance upgrading unless there's actually something worth doing it for! If anyone finds any differences between 2.40 and 2.41, please let me know!

the only thing is that it may be compulsory to get the update to sign into psn

Yeah, especially when it was a mistake on PlayStation's part. How do you find out the size of the updates? (eg. You just said its 130MB)

Ah right, fair enough. That's probably the quickest way to go. PS3s are really slow with downloading, no matter what your connection speed it seems.

i was exactly the same... had to get my COD4 fix!!!
took a while on mine to be honest, but just let it run on its own while i did other stuff...

Yeah it definitely didn't take as long. Maybe 2.41 was simply a small patch for those that had 2.40 already. Mine would have taken 10 mins max, instead of up to half an hour for 2.40.
