Word is that sony will soon announce the new PSP, the new PSP isn't PSP2, but a slimmer, faster version of the original.
The PSP Slim is going to have a new LED screen, new battery life, faster UMD drive, 8GB internal flash and a much better D-Pad and may possibly have a built in camera.Sony is considering adding Blutooth to compliment the original PSP's WiFi connectivity.
Its to debut at next month's E3 convention with a planned release date set for this autumn.

Sony has shown off the second-generation PSP, which it says is a third lighter and 19% slimmer than the current model. It'll have better battery life, load up games and UMD movies faster, and will boast a TV-Out feature letting you play games on your big-screen telly, as well as watch videos.
It'll be available in black, white and silver, including a special Star Wars Battlefront edition with Darth Vader on the back.
In the US, the new PSP will cost $199, with a 1GB Memory Stick and Daxter game thrown in, and is due on sale in September.

Sony has unveiled a re-designed PlayStation Portable which is slimmer, lighter, and comes with a video-out port for watching content on TVs.
The form factor of the portable console is virtually unchanged but the device is now 33% lighter and 19% slimmer.

Thats cool. The TV out kinda makes it worth changing to the new one. Playing Socom 2 on TV would be nice as well as watching films.

Ill miss those little bumps on the back though, they help with grip.

That does seem to be the main bit of the slimming, removing the bumps.

I see that Sony have also got rid of the ir port that did nothing.
