The P990 was supposed to be multi tasking form the original spec sheet, dont hold your breath for lots of features people its late june and they are still working the thing out!

Posted by sealover94
SE used us (p990 owners) as beta testers for this device....So i dont believe any of the specs anymore.....

Jimster, Are you allowed to own a Nokia?

Than why u bought p990? Look me-I didn't cause the whole thing around p990 was clear from the very beggin

Had a play with the handset today at the SE store. Have to admit, after having used all previous UIQ handsets, this one was a little strange. Mainly because the touch screen is 'hard'. With previous handsets, you have a little 'give' when pressing on the screen. With this, you don't. Also the stylus is completely made from a plastic (slightly flexible as well).

i concur with mark. mind you ive never really used the pda se phones before so am not used to them the screen did seem hard to press with fingers and at times not responsive. at times I felt lost in how to operate the phone. though the walkman stuff looked nice. one quick think i liked was you can scroll through the albums showing their cover art. kinda like coverflow in itunes but different. neat.

also the phone itself felt good in the hand as well. nice build.

does the phone is supported with charger by USB port?

Lol! Don't u think it's quite normal when u are touching the phone for first times(and it's a beta phone, not the release one)? Or u wanna 101% same hardware as in previous models, same sensitivity, stylus etc etc.? Every person a bit date with the headset and it's stranges(there is always such). Nothing against your oppinion, don't missunderstand me

About the "hpm-83" in the defaut package.. It's not very likely, but not impossible too, it will be nice if true We see some official pics with hpm-90, so if they put a newer wire earphones will be cool

Marc_SE thans for the live pics link

If I understood properly, it's the HBH-DS220 that you get with the W960i as well.

Had a look at it, it's got no 'back/forward' keys, just PLAY. Didn't appear to have volume keys either. Basic headset, mainly to bridge the gap between a normal remote and BT basically.

No probs about the pics dude - my pleasure!

i took a closer look at this picture posted by PcMan http://www.sonyericsson.com/d[....]etooth_headset_HBH_DS220_1.jpg and it looks like there might be a volume key, on the left side of the headset body (you can see a silver colored part sticking out of the casing)...

it would surprize (and disappoint) me if a high-range device like HBH-DS220 didn't have at least volume keys which can double as prev/next keys

Posted by jakester2000
Hmm well after having my W800i for 2 years and waiting for a suitable upgrade I think Ive found my new partner!

Can't wait for this phone to come out!

Posted by mervy
The w960 will NOT feature the Accelerometer.

http://developer.sonyericsson[....]7/p_k850_w910_newjp8phones.jsp

If yes, y not a single video nor picture abt the accelerometer in action!!
Damn that is Bad!!!!

Well I had a chat with the MDM and neither of us could see volume keys. We'll have to see if we *missed* them.

Posted by obakesan
didnt see any volume keys on the 220. only buttons I could see when playing with it were the power button, call button and the stop/play/pause button.

Well, i took that pic, zoomed in and circled the things I believe are volume buttons... but i may be all wrong...

(sorry my image quality is quite poor, you'd better check out the one posted by PcMan, it's much sharper)

Opinions ??

IMO the volume keys are a must for a BT headset, otherwise it's pointless if you have to take your phone every time you want to adjust the volume or change tracks.

In the video it looks like hes trying to do something, maybe play a song, but its taking him too long?

I think towards the end of the movie clip (between seconds 50-60), he tries to push the touch-sensitive button under the screen, to skip songs. If you look closely, you can see that the song title changes on the screen, so this is successful. At first, it looks as if it doesn't work indeed, but by looking closely, you can see the song has been skipped successfully.

Q4 2007

Where can I get the full review of W960? Please post the link

Posted by Jimster71
You'll only get previews at the moment as any reviewers will only have prototype hardware/software.

Posted by obakesan

Those are the power button and the play/pause button. no volume controls are on the unit nor are there any next/prev track buttons.

cheers.

Is there an expected release price for W960 - hopefully not to much

Posted by tranced
this says:

The Sony Ericsson W960 WalkmanŽ phone is UMTS 2100-GSM/GPRS 900/1800/1900 and will be available in Vinyl Black from Q4 2007.

so lets wait till september or october

Posted by benitorios
.... or more likely the end of December... the good thing about announcing a quarter instead of a precise date is that you can always shift the actual shipping date in case you get delayed. Well, we'll see !

I see no reason why the vpn client for the P990 (found in the try-and-buy) wouldn't also work for the W960
