Steve Jobs has just announced at the WWDC '07 that they are releasing the Safari web browser for Windows XP and Vista.
It's the fastest browser on Windows - twice as fast as Internet Explorer and 1.6 times faster than Firefox.
You'll can download a public beta of Safari 3.0.2b on the Apple site now:
http://www.apple.com/safari/download/
Available for Mac OS X 10.4.9, Windows XP & Vista

Brilliant, thanks for posting that. Have recently decided that my current laptop is going to be the last one with Windows before I get a Macbook. So a nice little taster of what I can look forward to
EDIT: Am now using Safari for Windows! So far it seems really good.

From posts on the Safari 3 Public Beta for Windows Discussion Forum, it seems Proxy support in the Windows beta of Safari 3 is currently disabled.
It's *supposed* to pick up the settings in IE, but that's not working for people either.

Well I've been saving for a few weeks and got a little bit put away for a rainy day so may have to dip my hands in
Posted by masseur
yeah, thats not working for me either. the proxy settings in IE are predefined and greyed out, presumably by some policy somewhere
I'll try this Safari at home when I get a chance
Posted by joebmc
I thinks its worse than firefox and ie7 (maybe im just to used to them tho).
Posted by arien617
Only thing I'm not liking so far is that my Norton Internet Security '07 fraud toolbar isn't coming up so... back to IE7 for credit card transactions.

A little help please....i cant seem to figure out a way to make it remember my login info for websites ; am i missing something?
Also whats that spider icon left of the address bar for?
Apart from that it seems nice, cant really make out a speed difference from opera or ie7 but the interface is definitely very clean.
EDIT : Oh well back to opera and ie7 then, this is either unfinished for windows or has too many missing features.
1) Text sizes are messed up. Ex. esato and some other sites load fine but the text on ebay is too small. If i increse it the text on the other sites becomes too big.
2) Wont save any of my preferences?? Also always starts in a non-fullscreen window.
3) If i click on the address bar it doesnt highlight the whole address so i can just type what i want. I have to click on the page icon to highlight everything.
4) I cant seem to find anywhere on the screen where i can click to open a new tab.
5) Cant just type in the address bar (instead of the search box to the right) and it'll just search that string in google. Both opera and ie7 do that.
Are these standard issues or am i having some really bad luck running this on vista? I was kinda liking the whole look and maybe the little speed boost but this makes it unusable for me.

I don't like it at the moment. It's like comparing iTunes on a Mac to the iTunes on Windows. There's quite a difference.
And in this case, the beta is full of bugs. It's slow to start up, it's too resource hungry, the theme doesn't look good on Windows, and it's not as snappy as Firefox/Opera. Crtl-Enter doesn't work either!!!
Posted by scottt
I have already noticed a considerable increase of the speed when opening pages. Took forever to start though, dont have any of my nice FireFox add ons, foxy tunes etc, and ctrl+enter dont work which is annoying.
I like how it produces the pages though, look more softer

I there anything like Adblock for Safari?

Snap! But yeah its loads better.
Like the Apple homepage aswell.
I'll have to stick with Flyakite OSX for now!

Apple have just released Safari v3.0.1 beta for Windows.
“Apple issued an update to the Safari for Windows public beta today to fix the security vulnerabilities that were reported earlier this week. Beta testers will receive the update automatically through Apple’s Software Update application,” an Apple spokesman told Macworld.
The security improvements in Safari Beta 3.0.1 include correction for a “command injection vulnerability,” corrected with additional processing and validation of URLs that could otherwise lead to an unexpected termination of the browser; an out-of-bounds memory read issue; and a race condition that can allow cross-site scripting using a JavaSscript exploit.
Apple notes that these security issues to do not affect the Macintosh version of Safari 3.

I can't believe they haven't fixed the memory leak problem on Mac... 384MB since this morning! Was a good idea to get 1gig ram!

Have been using this now for a few hours and i like. Opera is my main browser (not a fan of IE or Firefox) it is fast and very easy to use but Safari feels a little quicker on my slow connection. Have had one problem; I installed Flash and it had no effect on Safari. Strangely it was installed to work with Opera. Is Flash meant to be installed to the current browser that you are using or your default browser if you use more than 1? I had no choice.

Just found a bug. I opened a picture into a new tab and right clicked on it to save. That will shut down the program.
That just made me appreciate the resume feature of Opera where you can go back to where you left off last time when restarting the program.

As its a beta, there will be many bugs!
Plugins for the Windows version of Safari, including Flash, are here:
http://www.apple.com/safari/download/plugins.html
Posted by twerg
Yeap, I know there will be bugs, aware of that.
And at that plugin page is where I downloaded from to install Flash.
As I said it installed Flash for Opera, not Safari.
On the Adobe site it states that it is only avaliable for
'Firefox, Mozilla, Netscape, and Opera'.
Does not bother me as its only a beta, look forward to the final product.

Hey Jools, I received a CD-ROM with a lot of stuff on it, including the new Safari Beta for Windows...problem is that I can't open for Windows XP Home edition. Right now I hate the .dmg file extension.
Posted by Jools
The .dmg file extension is used for the Mac version, not the Windows version.
Posted by QVGA
I used Safari and i see no reason to leave Firefox and use this.
