Hiding your personal files on SE Mobile.

I checked it on my SE k800i & it worked nicely. I'm sorry if any other tried it
before me. It is as follows:

1 Open Tools > Folder options > View. on your PC.
2 Uncheck "Hide extensions for known file types....."
3 Rename the file manually; Suppose it is a video file with the
extension MP4
4 Rename is as Titanic.mp4 to Titanic
5 Copy the file to your mobile in any folder.
6 Then before opening it in Mobile rename it again to Titanic.mp4
Otherwise nobody could watch it as a video file.
7 The same procedure you may adapt to hide any other multimedia file.

TIP:
----
When you copy the file into your mobile plz dont rename the same
file. Instead copy it to another folder then Rename it with your
desired extension. In this way after viewing the file delete it,
while your actual file with no extension will be safe. Which may be
used later whenever you wnat to use it.

It's a bit lenghty but hope it'll be a handy tool for you.
All replies are welcome. Stay happy & enjoy.

But it's hard to get Moby Explorer for Free.
Isn't it...? So it's a little trick to enjoy.

and moby prompts for readwrite user data permissions, which is sick... haven't tried this method still though...

Why don't you try using Opera Mini 1.20 Hacked ver. It doesn't need registration and you could use EQHalmer certificate method to change java restrictions.

Posted by aatuif
What's the eq cert method...??

Here is some thing about java restriction removal

hey bossy just visit the site www.mobile9.com and search for the software fileprotect and download it on your pc or mobile phone. it is patched version and no need to activate or spending money, also no need for pc when u encrypt your data in future.

thank s for the tip

it works but once you rename the file you then cant change it back again and hide it

Did u guys notice,

If you copy songs into another folder in your memory card ( eg :- x:\\new ) rather than the regular music folder, these files will be visible only in the Walkman player.

This doesnt work with videos. But u could use a java player to play them.

I've already tried File Lock and after having a BIG scare Locking all the pics on my pics album , I tried to unlock them (keeps asking to read & write user data 2x each for EACH file) it wouldn't uNlock withe the same pw.

resolutioN: I had to uninstall it from my phone then reinstall it using the same pw and unlock the pics album folder. Resolved. This app or others like it I'm NOT using again. This is what a smartphone is for.

FileLock is actually a relatively unsophisticated way of "locking" files.

FileLock simply changes the file extension so that the phone doesn't recognise the file. You can copy the file to the pc and then rename the file back with it's correct extension (.jpg etc)

So it would be difficult to lose the file forever with this app! (once you know how to get around it) Likewise you can't really "lock" the file with this app.

If you want to lock individual files (not whole folders), then use fileprotect. It DOES work, and it won't forget your password! Fileprotect uses 128bit DES encryption, so it's not easy to crack. Once encrypted with fileprotect, a file cannot be viewed even if you copy the file to a computer or another phone. There is a bug with this app and K800/K610 - some folders can't be viewed - they are in the list but not visible. So you can move the highlight to select the folder, but you can't see it's name until after you have opened it. So it's a bit cumbersome. However it does still encrypt the file properly (and reliably unlock it too).

download direct to phone here: http://www.ixalon.net/FileProtect.jad
or to pc here: http://gallery.mobile9.com/f/23259
If you have K800 update firmware to R1KG (you can then set java apps security to "never ask" - get's rid of read/write prompts)

I just fixed the folder not visible bug in fileprotect. Set java permissions to "ask once" for read and write access - then fileprotect will ask once, and after that you will be able to see the files and folders properly

So, to recap, FileProtect works perfectly on K800!

awesome!

Thanks Max!

Im currently using mobyexplorer version 3, works very well, i can lock my personal files with password by selecting the "encrypt" in the protect option. before i had a hard time accessing my files in the phone and m2 card because every time i open the mobyexplorer application it always ask to write/read data in every folder i get into but after i upgraded my firmware into R1KG version via SEUS, i have now the option to switch off the permission settings in write/read data thingy. And accessing my files via mobyexplorer is just as simple as opening folders and browsing your menu.

Hope you'll try it.
