I have just bought a data cable for the T68i. will this inable me to unlock the SP lock or is another cable need?

nope, data cable cannot be used for unlocking purposes... there are modified T28 flash cables out there that can be used for unlocking. i warn u though, illegal unlocking will void ur warranty... be careful not to screw up your phone.
