Had a chat with a manager from Telstra network (aus largest network) today.....
Any way, Telstra are, in the near future, only going to be offering hsdpa handsets.... we got on the topic of n95/hsdpa...... that led to a comment by him saying, nokia have not got much coming in to us this year, he says they have a hsdpa phone coming out july'ish, then after that they wont be releasing another one until either very late this year, or early next year.... He says the network is expecting devices to come mostly from Samsung,
and Motorola....
any one know if this is the case, nokia only have n95, and one more hsdpa phone to come for this year?
ps before you start saying where is
hsdpa phones, there are going to be a few on the market this year, keep this topic to nokia hsdpa please Posted by BobaFett
i do hope for more nokia hsdpa fones, cos my op here offers it since long time and faster internet via fone would be better.
this is one of the coming fone

@boba
i would be surprised if this is true only having one more hsdpa from nokia......
i will try find out first, but that phone u posted is most likely the one he talks about, it looks like a mainstream phone, sort of like 6233, so something most networks would get......
Posted by BobaFett
i am sure nokia will pop up with other hsdpa fones in this year, we still have may only, so there is time for new models, according nokias traditions
Posted by MWEB
It is my understanding there will be at least one more.
Posted by >500
well i had my doubts when he mentioned this....
he manages a store though, not actually a high up manager, but still they (store managers) have a good idea of whats coming, the standard employees would not. i know many people dont belive store employees so i thought id mention it
we'll see what happens....

E90 has HSDPA!
Posted by >500
i think the guy meant a mass market/main stream market phone.... E90 is NOT mass market..... well its not mass market unless for some reason it its number one seller, but communicator is always for a select few...... not the majority..
Posted by BobaFett
that telstra wont offer maybe all nokia hdspa handsets doesnt mean, that nokie will have only 2 more released this year
Posted by >500
afaik, Telstra are the only network offering hsdpa phones in Australia....
He did say that Nokia only had one more hsdpa handset coming in july'ish (excluding e90) , and that was all they were getting because of what Nokia is offering, only the one phone..... trust me, if nokia has more than one mass market phone coming, Telstra WILL get it.... their entire range is already made up mostly of hsdpa phones (NextG range), and very soon thats all they will offer, hsdpa phones, so the more options they get, they more they will stock...
Posted by BobaFett
no offence, but how would he know, what is nokia planning for this year yet? imo we are here better informed, then many sellers or what ever in some brand shops etc
Posted by >500
@boba
im only quoting what he said, i didnt actually said it was definate.... I have my doubts too.... time will tell.....
Posted by BobaFett
yeah, thats right
i think ( hope ) nokia will release some new ones with hsdpa and according the fact, that the n and e series are very succesfull and next to it hsdpa will be offered as a standard now a days, i dont think nokia would miss this chance to increase their hsdpa offers

@>500
Well Nokia just announced the N82 which is due Q3/Q4 and i would be very surprised if any of their new smart phone devices don't come with HSDPA.
But to be honest i really don't care any more as long as devices are released that i like i couldn't care less who makes them and i really am fed up now of all this constant bickering on the forum and if doesn't stop that's it I'm off to let the children play all by them selves.

I thought this was quite a civilised thread Marc, I have seen/dealt with more fanboy crap than you have had hot dinners in my time, anyway your always welcome over at ours.
Totally off topic however i just ordered an E65 after guys like you and Boba have been giving the E-series such good press!!.

@mweb6161
Yeah your right probably not the right thread but am in so much pain now and over the last couple of days, i just don't care any more quickly losing the will to live and arguing over devices and manufacturers is just not really important in the grand scheme of things.
Apologies to all.
Marc

just to add why Telstra are so interested in HSDPA... since mid last year they have been promoting a new product called Next G which is their high speed 3.5G network. They have a couple of their own branded phones from manufacturers I've never heard of, as well as a few from Samsung and HTC etc, but they are in short supply and need more.
Here's the page for all this...

Also to add Masseur is their going to challenge landline Cable internet providers for solutions to provide home computers internet connections.

Hi all,
just came across the thread for the N81 and that also will have HSDPA so as i said it does look like that is going to be standard spec on Nokia smart phones from now on. So unless they are not picking up the new N series devices that comment from him doesn't really make a lot of sense as both these new N series devices have specs to die for and thats 2 devices already and we are not even into the 2nd half of the year.

no worries dogmann
any way, i did remember there n81/n82 are meant to be coming this year too, so i dont think what he told me was true. Maybe its just the Telstra network getting the one more hsdpa phone from nokia, i dont know
or by the time the phones arrive in europe in q4, by the time they reach our shores it will be 2008
anyway, imo we will see more than one more handset....
Posted by >500
posted this in nokia upping its game thread too, thought it had some relevance here too....
was reading over some user opinions of e61i on gsmarena, user there called 'Nokia Expert Designe' (r?) posted this:
"""This phone is targeted towards the business audience. We've made it more slimmer and compact in comparison to the previous Nokia e61. The Nokia e61 was covered in plastic while this mobile handset is covered in stainless steel. A 2 megapixel camera has been also added along with many software updates.Anyone who is wondering if this mobile handset is music oreintated-it is. There is an amazing media player and the speakers have been tested and work really well. This phone is great for watching videos and is great for Wi-fi. Look forward to the n81 if you like to play games a lot and listen to music with 8GB built in memory. Also look forward for the n82, which features Wi-fi, a 5megapixel camera with Xenon flash and integrated protection. That's all the specs I'll tell you guys. These new handsets will come out at the end of 2007 (December), and they will cost more than 500 dollars. By the way, I'm from Germany. I hope this information helps."""
""IF"" he genuinely works at nokia, seems n81/n82 arent coming until late q4, december, and thats if they come on time.... so perhaps Telstra guy is sort of right, and these hsdpa ( well we dont know 100% if they are hsdpa) phones wont be released until early 08, always a chance they can be delayed...... nokia still have more announcements though, imho, im expecting more hsdpa handsets.... just need to wait now for future announcements......

Huh, first you 'believe' then you don't - you argue and contradict yourself. Useless,speculative tread anyway. Go get a life. You only live once and who gives a sh!t what Nokia is going to do over the next 7months. Just in case you are not aware - this is a SE forum. Please post that Nokia speculation stuff of yours in a more relevant forum or ask the mods to move this crap in the garbage tread

i don't remember seeing any "garbage" in this thread until your last post Mario!!
If you have nothing positive to add then keep schtum!!

Judging by the big grinning green smiley it appears Mario has been drinking from the sarcasm cup again it's either that or someones has hijacked his account again IMO.

Hey Mario.....
Have you been flying again?
I must say, its not like you to take part in a thread and then make a holy show of yourself.

Yeah, I fly everytime I get a chance - afterall is my top hobby

@mario
its a mobile phone forum, what do you expect to read
i have doubted this from the start, but if, again i find it unlikely, this is true, does that mean i can abuse you for being wrong
