i think bballs was pertaining to and not SONY™

and guess what... Sony DR BT21G is much expensive than i-Tech BlueBand R. way expensive in our area.

and i have tried both... and i can assure you both perform at par from each other and sometimes i-tech performs better in some areas...

the ear cushion in Sony BT21G is not that good compared to the ear cushion on itech.

i was wondering why SE always push this wired headset or semi-wired? since it wireless bluetooth, i don't like any ench of wire dangling wherever on my body particular when i am going out.
Among all the types of headphone, motorolar S9 fits my taste despite some reviews said its performance is not perfect.

Hello

Does Bluetooth stereo (A2DP) (SE DS980 headset) Supports LCG Jukebox for SE P990i? i don't need the various function of the Bluetooth headset. I only need sound/music from LCG Jukebox via Bluetooth stereo headset (A2DP)

I have read that on of our respect forum member(LCG Forum) said its possible. I have attached his comments:

He wrote:
I hace a 990i with a DS980 the new headset from SE and it works very well with a few limitations. U have to manuelly start the LCG Jukebox. The headset have a play/puse button that works with the built in media player, that does not work with the LCG Jukebox. And the song title does not show in the display of the headset. The skip forward backward from the headset works, and so does the volume adjustment, so u have the most important functions. BTW: the DS980 have a realy good quality sound, and the volume level is very good. Can highly recommend this headset.

plz give me a feedback does this way work or not?
Also let me any difference(Sound Quality) between SE DS980 and HPM 70.
Also give me the current price of SE DS980 in US Dollar.

I think it is a trick. A re-launch of the same product because there is none revolutionary available anyway.

100% agree with, like many of SE cells
Doing so to keep people like us busy
I don't know how they achive background cancelling, by doing how to distinguish between voice and background sound.

I'm surprised no one has seen Nokia's BH-903! It also has an OLED screen and runs for up to 15 HOURS ON ONE CHARGE! It was announced at Nokia's Go Play Event, I think.... Not sure, but it sounds pretty good huh? Now for the bad, it will cost 200 Euros (or $274 Us dollars if you like) when it's released! It's pendant style like the HBH-DS980 too btw. Does anyone know if it has a clip on it's back?.... I own the HBH-DS970 and am also dissapointed with it's play time of only 6 hours, or at least it lasted that long when I first bought it about 10 months ago, now I'm lucky if it last me an hour!... What about Sony's newly announced HPM-90 wired headset with controls?... If you ask me, my money's with either Sony's HPM-90 or Nokia's BH-903 depending on whether I get a N95 8GB or W960.... Just my two cents.

Noise cancelling is a smart technology used in modern eraphones: an external microphone near the ear gets the environment noise and injects it in counterphase in the ear with the music or the voice we are listening to in order to cancel it.
It works, but with some limitations of course

Cant wait to get one. will it also be able to play radio from the p1i ? any one tryed this yet.

Pointless........ The thing has wires........

Which has better sound quality (Bass+Treble) between SE DS970,SE DS980 and SE HPM -70?

what is the charge required(condition) for Sony Ericsson P990i if I paired it with DS 980 via Bluetooth whole day/ continuously?

Does anybody know if this headset works well with Samsung D900i (or at least another Samsung)? I mean if the caller ID and song titles viewing work. I assume the Phonebook and Call list viewing won't work. Thanks

As the headset lead acts as the aerial on most phones I do not think a BT device can be used to listen to the radio ,

@kallebo
about this 'multipoint'
have you tried it more than 1 device (preferably 3,like handphones+music player+PC) ?
i'd experience with DS970 with 2 device only (both are cell phones - one acting as MP3 players, that connects through A2DP, while the other acting as a phone device, thus connect through the headset/handsfree profile)
and it's quite well along

Alas! i coudn't get that headset in Pakistan. Still not available here.

I think you can change the tracks but what I still don't know is, if you can only change tracks within one preselected folder (either on headset or something else) Someone somewhere said that the HBH doesnt understand the file structure (even on SE devices)

So what does that mean - you can't switch tracks from other folders or you see all the files on the device and you have to navigate through them?
That would be shit if it came out true

Yes, I think there is a next/previous slider on the side.

Yes, I think there is a next/previous slider on the side.

Did you read my post?
There is such slider - but how do you go on about 2 songs further , or if you want to change the artist?

1. Um, I don't know, press the slider in the respective direction twice maybe?!
2. Take out phone; navigate to artists in music player; choose your desired filter list; put phone back in pocket; simple

No, you cannot browse the library THROUGH the headset. I believe I mentioned this somewhere.

It would be nice, since you can do the same with the phonebook and calls menu, but its very tedious. Browsing the music library would be equally a pain!
Still, would be nice.

Here's a shot of my headset

Yeah very simple , why the hell would I need a Bluetooth device if I am to navigate and take out the phone?!? - you might as well be using the hbh ds205 and spend the other 30Euro on something else then...
That's really very very bad that you cant browse through the music

...whatever. I'm buying it anyways. I find it enough to be able to skip to previous/next track.

then buy the hbh ds205 or the Motorola one - if you dont need a display and all you can do is skip 1 track at a time

has anyone used this with the w960 yet and if so is there any little snagging problems

also can you get spare parts for this ie the necksrtap and fascia

i had to buy a new ds970 due to the neckstrap breaking and no one could get just the strap on its own

the ds205 wouldn't be a problem if you have an MBW-100 or MBW-150 I do enjoy the OLED on the DS980 though - it's very sharp!

"Almost wireless" bluetooth headsey... (lol)! Between the neck strap and the earplugs, you could strangle yourself with little effort (lol)!!

I'm getting a bit disappointed with my DS980. I'm using it with a W960i. My comments:

The battery life seems quite poor (unless mine is faulty). I've not done a "scientific" test but I think it's only about three hours if you switch it on and off a lot.

It switches off when the battery shows about a third full. You get the annoying beeps (oh and are they ANNOYING!) and off it goes!

It bleeps (see above) quite a lot - I think this is when it switches frequency.

No folder traverse - a bit of a PITA.

It can be a real pain making phone calls - many a time I've tried to call after navigating through the phone book and nothing happens (could be a bug with the W960 I guess). You then have to navigate all the way back to the phone no again!

It's not very loud - this is really noticible in urban situations (traffic, on the bus etc.).

Overall - it's OK but I was expecting a bit better for my £57 - might send it back as faulty (based on the battery life).

Cheers,

Derek.

So I just got one of these from Amazon..but it looks like a possible refurb.

Anyone have a complete list of what it comes with?

In my box:

1 Unit w/ one set of earbuds already on it (very dusty with maybe some grease or ear wax *shudder*)
3 Manual's in different languages
1 Bluetooth general booklet
0 Carrying pouch ( says on first post?? )

Additionally, on my box it says packaged 08W06..but on the unit itself it says 07W42. Totally smells like a refurb ( sent back in and repackaged ).

Also, the bluetooth booklet says battery can only be charged above 10 C (50F). Anyone have any problems charging at say 30F?

Upgrade FW on it, if you are having trouble with it. Simple as that.

Posted by Deeko1
Oh right - I never knew.

How do you update it?

Thanks

Derek

Got mine today (£41)

It comes with 2 extra sets of silicone earbuds (different sizes)
Manuals
Mains charger (cst-61)

I have to say it look very cool, the mirror effect is pretty good, the oled display is very bright, but it does not stay on for long.
The cable length is adjustable.

It was very easy to setup my w960 immediately paired itself.
I also paired it with my pc and it can control WMP.

Sound quality is great, the earphones look like an upgrade to the hpm70, they have a metal mesh. Lots of base and treble plus its loud (enough for me).
I was able to walk 7 meters (could not go further as I ran out of space to walk lol) from the device and there was no sound distortion.

Phone call quality is very good.
So far I have used it for 3 hours and battery shows as 2/3 full.

My brother just returned home with a present for me! And guesss what I got? (see topic title)
MY GOD, I've always used the generic headphones that came with my phone, but when I tried these on I was simply amazed at how clear the sound was and at the fat bass .
I'd recommend these headphones to anyone! They're great!

Well they're ok, the sound is good and they fit nicely BUT they last for only 5 hours, there are drop offs and the wires are too annoying...

Posted by NightBlade
Anyone know whether I can use the headphones without the neckstrap? The receiver dangles a bit too low than where I'd like.

Posted by way2quik
anyone know where i can buy this baby?
I live in Canada and there are no any . . .'.ca'. sites.
Wondering where do you guys purchase yours?

Posted by buntoo
i too looking for this handsfree in Pakistan..but unable to find it here.
how can i buy it without credit card???

well, i'm a bit interested in this headset. I only want to ask for 1 simple question, does the noise cancelling really work? How clear is the quality and how 'bout the bass? Is it often lag?

thanx a ton

1. Well, I guess it does. I've had no interferences so far. Sound's crystal clear.
2. Oh, yea, the bass is good.
I don't regret buying these.

PS.I'm using them with a K810, if you're wondering.

thanx a lot, that was a quick reply. But you haven't answered 'bout the noise cancelling because that's the point I'm interested in. Sorry for having so many questions and thanx again for answering

No problem, mate.
Well, as I said, the sound is crystal clear. BUT, when the music stops, but the song is still playing (like the last 2-3 seconds of a song), there's some kind of really really faint noise (like static), but that's hardly noticeable, actually. It doesn't "ruin" the whole experience at all. (dunno why I'm even saying that).
'Tis a good investment, IMO.

Hope I've answered your question.

PS. The OLED screen rocks! It'll make your friends go "Coooool!".

Finally I bought a DS970 as a high schooler like me don't have enough budget to buy DS980 ^^. So does the sound quality between these two differ much or maybe the same? As I read the specs, I pointed that the differences are only DS980 has OLED display and can connect to more than 1 devices. Correct me if it's wrong.....

thanx a lot, mate^^

I have HBH-DS980 na K800@K810 SW R8BA024. When recive sms or call - the music stops, after readings SMS/end call - music continues playing!
You can make Master Reset on HBH-DS980 - just hold on/off button and after searching of devices hold on/off button with call button and wait to turn off headseat.

Thanks for your answer, i did 2 resets as you sugested, and the problem is the same,

every time i recive a sms/call and try to resume, the walkman player resumes the song, but in the DS980 it doesnt show anyting, the ds980 doesnt respond to the mediaplayer commands, i have to change the track to resume the playback of the song.

i will try to flash my firmware to other versions, to verify if the problem persists.

Thanks

I have tried to flash the K800i firmware to k810i and k770i and the playback/resume of the music persists. i bought this DS980 in ebay, but they come with everything like the genuines. Anyone knows a possible workout to this problem?

Thanks

I think that, the only way is to flash your HBH-DS980 with the last firmware but only sony ericsson repair center can do it.

What is the firmware of your HBH-DS980 ? You can see it on your phone in settings/accessories.

Posted by nickmaleao
Hardware revision is R1A, Firmware version is R2A.
