Hello all.
Who is going to buy the Nokia E90 ?

Posted by masseur
its now firmly on my list if only because people are going to want a comparison with the N95, but also because I have had most of the previous communicators (although not the latest couple) so its time I checked them out myself again anyway...

Posted by mustu
hello its on my list as well but I am highly confused between the N95 and the E90.

Both look great and have different use.I dont surf the net or so via a phone for that I have my mac.

I use mostly call and text.I just wanted it for a camera so the N95 was on the top of the list.

But the other thing is that the iPhone is for sure on my list.

I will be in new york in the next couple of months closer to the iPhone launch so if there will be some debranding I will straight away buy that.

its far too expensive for a "cellphone". I know it does a lot more, but in the end its a phone and it cant replace my laptop.

Im getting one , so looking forward for this querty and resolution on the screen and layout is just what i need ... n1 on my list ...

I am waiting for this phone but looks like it will be so XXX$$$!

Now i am using 9300 and i like it!

Posted by Dogmann
Hi all,

I am to eagerly awaiting it's arrival and seeing it in the flesh not sure i actually need all it can do but also not sure i will be able to resist it either. Only time will tell if i can resist it's pull or not but it may just tempt me from my N93 which so far i have had for 9 months which is a very long time for me to stick with any device but i just can't let it go.

It depends when it comes out. If it comes out in may then I will get for sure, if it comes out in June then probably but there might be some better options by July.

Posted by BobaFett
i gave one a short try for 9300 and 9500, both are great devices, but no chance to use them on the street and thats the point i said, thx, but no thx... e90 is a very impressive fone, but way to spesific and "desk focused"

Posted by DocDibble
Its nokia e90 or nokia n95 for me. Depends on which I can get at better cost. Hope to try both first and then decide.

Posted by Dicky Snapples
yup,definitly getting one.

Posted by estaphuam
I'd wait a while...

The price will drop by a third if not half in a few months after release.

That said, I think the E90 is what the 9300i should have been. They could have released a much closer phone to the E90 with 9300 but it was a money grubbing move. Do you think they had to limit the functions of the front panel?

Posted by Dogmann
@estaphuam

I very much doubt you are right about the price drop as no recently released top end Nokia has done this yet not even after a year. It's not a SE smart phone you know.

As for this is what the 9300i should of been you really can't be serious how long ago was that first released and half the tech inside the E90 wasn't even available back then at least Nokia's have moved on to new generation processors and graphics chips unlike some manufacturers that are still using the same old processors and graphics chips that don't even offer VGA video recording on their latest and even coming soon devices.

BUt question though. When is the proposed release (Q3 they say but any ideas on more steady date)? And has anyone heard any proposed cost?

Posted by Dogmann
Hi all

Well now that i have had my E61 for a few days i can confirm i will no longer be considering getting an E90. This E61 is saving me a fortune no E90 and i have sold my N93.

Keypad is a bit on the hard side compared to the 9500 and 9300i but tactile feedback is good so fine there looks solid dont move , its also raised and therefore better to use also its backlite where previous communicators did not have that option . In my opinion superior keyboard i have used in any device till now .

ps pics on the way hold on

Did u mean E90 ?

Posted by BobaFett
yeah, soeey, of course? so what features or pints at design could be better?

Posted by lazarini
Oka oka my bad course u did .

Well i cant really judge now as this is not final release phone one thing for sure for most people will be the size and weight of this device cca 220gram.
As u can see the hight is similar to 9300i (a bit wider do to screen size) but the weight stayed on the 9500 level. Some people will be deffinetly turned away by that , i use communicators for some time so for me is same all same all when it comes to dimensios and weight.

Will not comment much on current sw as its not final all do i have not expirienced any problems till now . This device is clearly from E series camp as the build quality is just rock solid !!! And this is a device that had been abused by manny mannnny mannnnnnny people Comparing build quality of the n95 of my coworker the the N95 gives impresion of a toy compared to E90. Its really a profesional device with adition of prety much all the multimedia features u coud desire ... 3mpix autofocus cam . 30 fps vga recording , radio , stereo bt etc ...

Hi all,

Well after struggling for the last few weeks to actually decide what device to get that's it i have reached my decision the fact this has now been confirmed to work with the SanDisk SDHC 4GB card and i would imagine larger cards to follow quite soon i just have to get an E90. I have concluded there really is nothing else in the market i want, even the coming soon N81/N82 don't quite do it. Size is never an issue with me in any device as i will always prioritise function over form. I just hope 02 are right and it appears in July if not some time this month as i hate waiting. On the plus side all the apps and software i use will just load straight onto it possibly all of a 20 minute job to have everything set up and running the way it is now and just so simple and hassle free. One sync and a few installs and it will all be done roll on release.

imo even 450 gbp is still way too much according e90 features... the only positive thing is, that no cz lense anymore, that was one of the most worse decision nokia ever made...

Hi Boba,

I really can't agree it may have the same processor and graphics in the OMAP 2420 as in the N95,N93I, and N93 but it also has 128mb Ram as well as that huge internal screen which even i will consider running Tom Tom on with an external GPS unit. Not of course forgetting the full qwerty keyboard, HSDPA, A2DP, and WiFi. Actually it looks like it is going to cost closer to £480 as if it is not shipped from the UK i will go with X137 as he is very reliable. The fact all my apps should work and all I have to do is put my current memory card in are big pluses. Lets face for now this is the most advanced and powerful Symbian smart phone out for now. plus of course it is an E series so has the best homescreen plug ins and of course build quality plus a nice big powerful Li-Polymer battery.

I got 10 of the them the other day.. selling them for 768£

And they are going like hot bread in my shop

Posted by BobaFett
u are right, i ment more, that a communicator should have some more advenced features or whatever ( not focusing on ram and processor ), cos i can hardly imagine to navigate with e90 ( imo n95 is a btter edsign for it or even e60 ) cos those are block design. so nokia didnt really put many new things it that, maybe the return to the communicator way with latet symbian features will make those happy, who missed qwert keyboard and "laptop" style.

Posted by Dogmann
Hi all,

Well it does appear that the E90 is indeed starting to sell very well X1387 has now sold out on 4 auctions and all were for multiple devices. I have now decided to wait and see one in the flesh before making my final decision and also for the price to come down a bit more.

Has anyone noticed any major bugs on E90? I was given a nice offer yesterday and i`m not sure what do to

@Dog: will you swap your N95 for it, or have both?

Posted by Dogmann
@intelegent115

Well if i go for the E90 i will sell my E61 and N95 as it will replace both of these devices, really just waiting to feel one in my hand and see if i like it or not. I am currently not decided on what to do as it really won't do anything my current set up doesn't and i never Multi task to such an extent that i have Ram issues. I may even change direction completely and go for the Toshiba G900 as there really is something that appeals to me about that device just bored really and want a new tech toy to play with nothing new there then. The real E61 replacement which is what i really want is still at least 6 months away i think so want something for now and the next 6-9 months.

Right,..

I need to see & test it too. Size could be the issue. If i was to suggest nokia to make something nice for me; it would be a N95 with a solid slider and more ram. Thats it! E90 does both but comes with bigger trunk

Posted by Dogmann
@intelegent115

There are rumours of a smaller lighter E90 to come possibly a E80 and may not have a camera but as yet that is just a rumour.

i would also show some interest for 9300 sized s60 device, cam isnt that important to me either

Can any of you previous Communicator owners suggest how to carry the phone? That actually is my biggest concern.. Maybe i will have to keep my N95 after all. Can E90 be an everyday phone? If so, how?

Posted by BobaFett
imo its the perfetc for businessmen, who has ausually a a nice samsomite case with them anyway, i acn hardly imagine to carry that fone in pockets... maybe in the winter, when u have a coat or jacket on anyway...

Errrm.....in your pocket. i used a 9500 for well over a year and never really had a problem carrying it in my pocket

Posted by sapporobaby
I am getting one. If anyone is interested in a relatively new N95 with a 1 gig card, and an extra battery. PM me. Nothing wrong with the N95 but the E90 runs Series 60 throughout. Anyone can ask BobaFett about my reliability when it comes to selling things.

Hi all

Whilst checking the 02 website came across the E90 on a £25 per month 12 month Buisness 200 contract @£126 for the phone. Still not showing as available for non business customers as yet. Any one actually know what you need to qualify for a business account as that is the best deal i have seen so far.

Also so far i have seen two cases for the E90 one a Krusell Multidapt case and the other a Nokia original so personally i would just use one of these.

Hi Boba,

Intend trying to get one on a 02 business account tomorrow may even increase the tariff to reduce the price if it makes sense. E-Bay prices are still too high just now IMO unless importing which i just don't fancy this time as if i get hit with VAT that will be like another £80-£100 which would hurt. Will also check out VodaFone tomorrow as well to see what they are doing price wise as they are meant to have them available tomorrow.

Re cases also discovered a nice selection of cases on E-Bay including my current maker of choice PDAir.
