I just figured it out. Just record a bit of the song with the regular voice recorder. Then select the file from the explorer.

I installed it, but there seems to be a bug. I can't select the recording to send to the server.
I can select either the the c drive or e, then I can select the sounds folder, then comes the problem, I just can't highlight anything in the sounds folder!
Anyone has this problem on a K750i?

My respect to this Java program maker. Good work, but it doesn't seem to work properly. Just uninstalled mine a few minutes ago. I couldn't bear the Java security pop ups anytime I explored the files. Thanks, however.

i just tried it with my W900!! i recorded the rapper JIM JONES-REPPIN TIME, and after lyk a minute or so it gave me all the info on the track! I TAKE MY HAT OFF TO THE DEVELOPER OF THIS! IT WORKS NICELY! JUST PLEASE SIGN it so that it stopz doing the READ WRITE DATA prompts! OTHERWISE THIS WORKS PERFECTLY! on my W900! YAY! WELL DONE TO WHO EVA DEVELOPD THIS!

All i did was i recorded song for 31seconds then i clicked SELECT and after that it ask to SEND TO WEB u click YES, then the READ USER DATA WRITE USER DATA pop up came and al u do is CLICK YES, then the TrackID wil start searching whilest it does this just leave it and eventually its asks to OPEN WEB BROWSER CLICK YES, then it brings up those READ/WRITE USER DATA pop ups CLICK YES, and VOILA! the info appears with the recording playing in the backround if you set it like that in SETTINGS
hope that helps, its realy easy, BUT at first when i was using my VODAFONE INTERNET SETTINGS it didnt want to connect so i had to use VODACOM (local network) settings

OMG, just tried Sasha-SE link in the 1st post and it works like a charm! It doesn't prompt that annoying security pop-ups unlike the 1st time I downloaded it. Tested by recording a song from an FM radio and voila, it works! It's the correct song! My gratitude and salute to this TrackID programmer! Have been pessimistic before, but I'm totally wrong..thank you.

What I did:
-Use the phone feature 'Record sound', any song from any FM radio, NOT your built-in K800i radio.
-record for at least 10-15 seconds. The file will have .amr extension. It's automatically saved in Music folder.
-Open Track ID. Browse to folder e--Music--your recording.amr.
Folder e is your Memory Stick.
-Click select
-Allow to send to the net? Yes.
-TrackID processes the .amr file. You'll see log, flush, open Audio Streaming, etc.
-If successful, the app will ask you to launch NetFront browser
-Voila!

Big thanks first,
but there is some bug which is causing error's in some phones,
Showing array out of bounds,sound like some array needs some redefinition/slight changes.
It doesn't work as such in my k750,I have found an alternative way.
Record the song,rename it to something with small no of characters ,eg: track.amr
Move it to e:\\ using some file manager,i have problems in with deep folders than one level,so the file is e:\\track.amr
Now it should work fine.

@syam, what file manager do you use to move the file to e? The default K750i file manager only allows amr files to be placed in the "Sounds" folder and not directly on E. I have the same problem as u, the track ID app does not read deep into folders.

my recordings are about 5-10 seconds long...amazing.
Chapeau to whoever developed this app!!!
P.S. sometimes i get a java.ioexception but works well the rest of times, i suppose it is some probem with the server.

it works on my k800 with the default proxy, but as i said before sometimes it does not read anything and i am stuck with a Java.ioexception. if someone has got it to work full time can you share the proxy settings?

I searched for "free proxy" and tried to change it a few times, but still the same error.

I have tried multiple proxies from this site: http://www.proxy4free.com/page1.html and none of them work, problem is, it doesn't even initiate the internet connection before it fails so I'm thinking there's a bug in the program. I'm trying it on a w810i.
PS - for everyone getting the OE exception, check under your phone settings and verify that the Java settings have the proper internet profiles associated - it seems to be going further for me now but it ends up with:
IOException: Couldn't read from socket
on 12.36.194.7:3128
I'm about to try the original proxy again
PPS - after much testing, I finally got it to open the web page and I got the beautiful error message:
We're sorry, but your device is not allowed to use this service.
There goes the W810, hopefully if/when I get my K790 fixed it'll work better.

hey, wen i downloaded track id for my p990 a few days ago, it was working fine, but for the last few days it just gives me an erroe, something like scareface's error to do with proxy i guess.... any idea how i can fix this??

From the application itself
Java application just provide a front end to connect to that server.
Its a bit unstable tho,works for me now and then..

Couple of tips that might help,
Make sure you recording is not too long (preferably between 5-15seconds).
Always click the first recognize button in the page,one just below the browse/select file...

@shyam, you're right, I tried again with an English track this time, and it works on my PC. Still no luck with my phone though. It shows an error message saying "No music clip received. Please try again." Still, I think it's great you managed to find the site in the first place. Thanks!
