Like my old T68i, I want that GPRS should all the time be connected even if I exit the browser. Thats because my operator charges me every time I connect.

Is it possible? (It was in the T68i)

u have to set it at wap connections to gsm only ( disable gsm and gprs )

just in case, here is the manual

I tried this "GSM Only" setting. It disconnects immediately after I exit the browser.

What abt the manual. Didn't it help.

@radarblip609:

Don't have your phone myself, but isn't there anywhere in the GPRS-settings the possibility to choose between : "always on" or "only when necessary" or something like that ?
Selecting "always on" should solve your problem.

Edit: Unless your network disconnects you automatically, a certain time after you stopped browsing.
In this case you can't do anything against it, I'm afraid.

That won't help, most probably.

@aatuif: I have the manual with me. No, it does not contain any information regarding this.

@Marly: Thats a negative too. No such options in any settings anywhere. My network doest not disconnect me on auto. I just want to remain connected when I leave the browser.

there is no way in the world of doing so unless
1. you are using a java browser like operamini and have the ability to run in back ground. OR
2. have some firmware patches which may allow you to stay connected, even if you exit from your browser.
best of luck

Why do you need to exit the browser, in the first place...

Posted by radarblip609
@ajeetpv: I guess you are right. Because when I minimize my opera mini too, it disconnects the GPRS. [Edit: But I guess firmware patching is risky. Isn't it?)

@aatuif: Actually my operator charges me a buck everytime I connect. When I used to use GPRS on my T68i, I never disconnected. T68i allowed me to stay connected even if I exited the browser.

I meant to say that why do you need to disconnect, just continue browsing and quit only when you are finished....

sometimes is necessary to exit the browser, but the next day maybe he needs to enter again. and if he does that, that will cost 30 bucks per month(if he enters only once a day), that's why he needs not to close the connection, it will cost him 30 times cheaper

antichrist said it so very right. I need to exit the browser to do so many other things in the phone. And its not just once a day that I exit the browser. If I find a way to remain connected even while outside the browser, it is going to save me quite a couple of hundred of bucks.
