Motorola LAZR Coming Soon!

Following the footsteps of the RAZR, KRZR, and RIZR, Motorola engineers are now developing yet another slim clamshell handset which is known as the LAZR.

This chromed-out clamshell comes with a respectable 512MB memory, but that good news is offset by what is apparently a lack of any memory expansion slots. The LAZR will be powered by Linux and features a text-to-speech software which should come in handy for those who absolutely need to reply that text message or compose a business e-mail while driving. Other than that, we will just have to keep our eyes and ears peeled open for any further developments.

and i though motorola couldn't go more uglyer when trying.

Posted by driftmania
It may look ugly to you, but it sure looks a hell of a lot better than what SE is coming out with.

aren't all that bad mate!

My fascination with the entire RAZR thing lasted about 15 minutes, not even long enough to get one. Thankfully. But that OpusX lighter is sweet!

It looks nice. I have always quite liked Motorola phones except 2 things. Firstly is i can navigate the menu ok but i hate the texting. Secondly is whilst call quality is fine on their phones its never loud enough. All their phones you cannot hear a thing when your outside in a busy street. Nightmare. I am very fussy on call clarity. Oh their is a 3rd thing their cameras are poo.

Actually, the Motorolas go so loud that the volume distorts on them at Level 7.. And it's still of good quality.. That's coming from my dad's old V600, V635 and many Razrs I've had in the past.. Texting is same as SE as far as I can remember...

It is like that with call quality on all razas especially the V3X which is very quiet and dry sounding. Yes the loudest ones are v600 and v635 but most are awful i think. Also texting is nothing like SE phones or Nokia they dont use T9 and its not as quick and as easy to use. This does not mean i totally dislike their phones. I thought the V3X was very good phone.

... and the UI is mentally challenged
... and the is crippled
... and the Address Book is a cluster-f*ck

hold up here peeps..

let's not bash moto.

the UI has won numerous awards for it's ease of use. it's the same as a mac, it's so simple you don't think of it.

the :bt: isn't crippled at all. The same thing applies, it is so easy to use you don't think of it.

and moto's designs win awards everytime (so they must be doing something right), also the moto ethos is not to be on the fore front of tech, your average punter doesn't need wifi, a 28mp cam, 1tb storage, and this is what moto don't do, they stick to modest spec that people need.. not want but need...

moto really aren't that bad.

and no i don't work for, have shares in or use a moto!

Well reasoned - but one question not pre-empted: is it pronounced "lazier"?

going along the lines that RAZR is razor and PEBL is pebble, and SLVR is sliver, I guess LAZR is supposed to be laser..

although being yanks they can't spell for peanuts!

it's a LASR.....

Isn't the RAZR/LAXR/LASR dead?

No offense i like these phones but maybe motorola should change from making fashion phones?

HAA!!

Posted by bodum
looks alright to me, though it doesn't seem that slim at all so I don't think that it's a replacement for the RAZR/KRZR. seems Motorola has gone over the edge with the SNSLSS RNMNG...

Is it me, or does this new Moto phone bear a resebmlance to the Ming?
The biggest complaint I've heard about Moto phones is the batteries go bad too quickly. Happened to me and also to wifey-pooh. Moto bad.
