simple, its just 2 magnetic fields.
i used work in a store where they sold earth sphere's floting above something.
its nothing special, it won't lead to any extra advanced technology because the device that flowts must be light, if you go heavyer you need more power which is dangerus, it could shock things and people.

yep, like a maglev train. It works, but still uses a lot of power, no less than a standard electric train (but it's much faster cause no friction!)
