I had a feeling a tripod was on the way. It makes sense as an accessory for a cybershot phone

Posted by PeterKay
been a long time coming though....

Like the pouch, should be usable with other phones!

I like the pouch!

Posted by tranced
why doesn't it include a external torch like the old style photographers? it would be a nice complement for the k800 xenon flash. the pouch would handle 2 or 3 of the new slim phones

Posted by peanut
If some enterprising person could make that clip it's likely that we can use any old mini tripod and save a bunch.

Posted by deluded
@peanut, I was just about to comment that the adaptor should make the Cybershot phones compatible with any normal tripod. It'll be great if they sold just the clip, SE or third-party manufacturers.

edit: Just noticed something, all the posters in this thread are online at this moment.

Really Nice

880, 610, k550 cant use this tripod as they have the fastport in the sides.

Posted by PeterKay
You can, but you would get a landscape picture

Posted by tranced
yeah, but you know what i mean!!!!! you cant have it in horizontal mode.

I am unsure might suspect that the stand adapter will move to allow the phones with side fastport to be used with it as well.

Posted by Mizzle
It will.

Posted by tranced
will the phones fit well? as it was intended to work in horizontal mode

Posted by thetmaxx
It looks like it is designed for k-series, they may not develop anyhitng for the side fastport phones (which is very funky anyways, how can that work with speaker stands, car adapters?!?!)

anyways, really cool how that adapter will be able to screw into ANY tripod, i'm glad it isn't fixed to the tripod they are offering. however, all i want is just the adapter.... oh well.

IPK-100 definitely helps you to get better photos!

Posted by PeterKay
have you tested it tehy?

I sweet talked one of the girls to get the tripod out of the cabinet today at cebit. Its ok but it won't help you get better pictures as it doesn't improve camera quality or lighting or... well, you know what I mean

its really no better than resting the phone on a table or a book. I feel its just a bit gimmicky really.

I never used this style tripod with my real camera either even though I have a couple of them. I always forget to take them and as I say, resting the camera on a book or something is just the same really.

Posted by tranced
this was designed for shaking hands ppl. although, as masseur said, a stable plain surface can be used to set the camera on it. anyways, stylish ppl with stylish accessories.

Posted by masseur
actually I didn't think it was stylish even... the slide in case was quite nice though and I could easily get one of those

probably the best case I have seen SE make actually

Actually I'd be able to use the tripod adapter. For my modified K750 (with optical telephoto lense) - to minimise shake of zoomed objects that are a long distance away. Especially for night shots. Outside you don't always have a handy resting place, or if you do it's not the best place to take the photo you are trying to get.

Also, my stock K750, which with the supercam driver 8.3 takes brilliant night shots, but exposure time is too long to get really clear results by hand - a tripod would be extremely useful.

I had converted a car mobile phone holder into a clamp with a tripod screwmount in the side, this worked well until it broke. This camera phone kit would help me not have to stuff around creating a new clamp, that is if it suits a K750 (or can be easily modified)

@max, would have loved to see how your modified camera mount looks like, but I suppose you don't have it anymore since it's broken?

@peter - Is that the K850i fone-model (first 2 images . . .) I remember when I bought a kodak digicam last year, the store gave me a TRIPOD very similar to that though it has no Sony Ericsson wording on it . . .

@jojo
I think its the K810.

I thought I had taken one at some point, but I can't seem to locate the pic.

No worries mate, just thought it'll be pretty interesting to see how you did it. Might give others some inspiration to make their own.

what I did was take the tripod screw mount out of an old camera, and mounted it in the side of the car holder by cutting a whole for it and screwing it in place with self-tapping screws.

It was fiddly, but doable. I'll make another if the camera phone kit adapter doesn't suit K750.

I think it's pretty cool that you thought of it first, max. But them again, it isn't too surprising cos I also know that you happen to be one of the strongest supporters of the K750's camera, am I right? Well, anyway, I hope it's a sign of things to come from SE. More camera accessories, hopefully. By the way max, I see no reason why the mount won't fit the K750, but it'll be great if someone could confirm that.

Well, it's not always possible to use an bench or book or something similar.

But it's basically only the clip you want so you for an example can use an Gorillapod or similar , then you don't need any flat surfaces

Yep I do rather stand out as a K750 supporter. Hopefully you are right about the mount, it certainly looks like it should do the trick.

i'm going to get this one, but only for the pouch primarily. any idea if it would fit the k800, considering the sizeable bulge at the lens? masseur, is it made of suede, as the picture suggests it is?

I want one NOWWWWWWWWW!!!!!!!

I have heaps of family photos taken on outings that don't have me in them because I'm on the wrong side of the camera.

I've tried standing the phone up but it tends to fall over and I don't want to damage my precious V630i. I will be heading to the nearest Sony Style store to pre order this IMMEDIATELY!

EDIT: It's listed on the NZ website as coming soon. I'd better Print off a copy of the webpage as odds-on the local store won't have heard of it...

Yup! The Sony Style store had never heard of it and neither had their wholesaler. Usual story. They're gonna contact me about availability.

Do you guys have to jump thru hoops to convince your local retailers to sell you accessories? NZ is just hopeless for purchasing products.

Can the stand adapter be moved to accept the phones with side connectors?

Posted by carkitter
Just got a reply today from the Sony Style shop.

"The distributors have no plans at this stage to bring this product to NZ but may do so in the future."

So I guess I take that as "Don't know, don't care."
