Hello guys,
i was just wondering if SE ever contacted Esato managament to thank them for such a site or ask them about anything...
For me a lot of people are like: "If you buy a SE you will never change it" and one of the main reason for many people is esato...
thanks

Nothing of that sort has happened....so far i believe..
It would have been news otherwise..

Esato is "laffen and se's" baby.
Posted by haris_el
It's weird because such sites and especially the forum - are like free marketing services for SE in knowing what are the customer needs and how to fulfill them...

Please... If SE actually went through these forums they'd have implemented the many software only features we've been asking for for years!
(Like better security, SMS management etc)

Se doesnt have anything to do with Esato. Se wasnt even in existance when Esato was started.
It is all down to Laffen and the members of Esato

may not have any affiliation with esato, but what i do know is that many people from within
watch esato and use the site and forums on a regular basis.

By se i didn't mean the brand, but the love and obsession associated with sony ericsson mobile phones.

I know there are
employees who visit this forum, with nice titbits of info. Posted by Davo_169
ok you cought me out...
im the guy that throws phones at different surfaces to test the durability.
Posted by DeLa
Esato's wap site was (is?) one othe few bookmarks that come pre-installed with the phones.

esato made this place for the good old ericsson phones.
if SE wants to shop a special kind of respect to esato and its old members, then they launch a few claisc phones, high end phones but with the old /// soul and design.

Many SE workers are in here, thats correct, but not that many post. Just to be sure they don't write anything that shouldn't be written or people can misinterpreting the facts and post.

So there are "detectives" of SE in here....
Anyway , so SE does not respect the Esato owners? It didnt thank them at any time for the good advertisment they do for sony ericsson?

This has been discussed loads of times before, and it keeps popping up.
Orange UK & Nokia also monitor this forum, along with many others who we will never know about.

how do you know orange uk and nokia monitor this forum?
Posted by tranced
does wapchimp work for the mentioned above? i think
should sponsor ESATO, dont you think?

I think if anyone should know, WAPCHIMP should.
Its a good idea for organisations to monitor forums like this - they must get some valuable feedback, get knowledge of upcoming releases, discover bugs etc. We know what handsets are coming out before most people in Orange shops do.

didnt SE come and save esato when they ran outa funds a while back? and were gonna shut down back then.

no, of course not. where would the impartiality be then? and how much would it be censored?
I mean, Esato is quite a "fansite" right now with harsh words to people posting against SE products even if they have a valid point, and especially if they are Nokia owners it seems.
How would this place be if it was not independant?
nope. I think its better as is though it would be nice to see more open input from SE rather than all this backdoor stuff we get from people in the know. But then I guess that would help people in the know.
Mind you, if they had dedicated technical people who went around the forums that would be a great help instead of us always having to find solutions by chance or from the few really good people around.
but perhaps thats another story...

i think esato should hire some workaholic guys and release a firmware for uiq, and make some NEW models, not phones like k810, w660 and w880.these phones have 90% same characteristics all in different designs.
im starting to hate

@masseur
When you put it like that it does seem a bit sad, us having to work out issues/problems by ourselves with no help from
employees.
I know there are some in the developers site but I think an awful lot goes on here too.
Wouldn't it be cool if we had a sort of 'workshop', taking place one day / morning each week, whereby an
employee was made available to answer purely technical questions and answer to issues about
phones.

Well, the forum are mentioned sometimes and links are sent around. So it's not totally anonymous.

So you're saying some employees do use Esato or pick up on stuff they find interesting/useful and pass it on?

It's not really that hard to check it, the owner of the site sees both IP addresses and referrer homepage, so it's not really hard to check and see where the readers are arriving from.

Cant really say anything about that, I'm here as an private person and not in the position of my work, I'm personally reads Esato because I like technical toys and it's always fun to se what ppl think about the phones.
Must admit that the rumors section are quite funny to read to sometimes and I do enjoy some of the photoshoped pictures, there is an lot of PS talent out there.
And no, I don't have anything to do with the phones to do, not in either design, software development or another thing

It would be interesting to know if SE's design department are looking at the photoshop pictures to get new ideas.

@Scorpan
Do you find that some things in the rumours thread are quite accurate and others are fantastically way off the mark?
What happens when a phone spypic is leaked?
Does a memo come around saying ".... yet another breach of security........ the perpetrator will be found..... detrimental to the business....heads will roll....etc etc"

To London Andy: Really dont know if the guys there looks here... No clue at all..
I will never ever say something regarding rumors, or you want me to loose my job? So, no comment if it's a close match, an impossible thing or the true thing at all from me.. You have to wait until the public announcement like all the rest

Fair play! I wouldn't want you to get the push.

Hehe, thanks a lot. If there is something I can say or help with that falls under public knowledge, I can try to assist.. Thinking about posting some pictures taken with an W800i and a K800i camera but thats probably old information already.

Oh, why?... Then you wouldn't be able to sit here and post and think about the rumors and photoshoped pictures.

True, but I bet it would still be a cool place to work.
Do you also get discount on all your phones and accessories?

But yeah, it's an nice place to work at. High spirited and in the front of technologies
Well, there are always prototypes... And the discount I think are different from countries to countries..

Thats one of the reason I would love to work there. It would very interesting to work in a place where new hi-tech products are emerging all the time.
Plus there must be a great atmosphere there at the moment with
doing so well in the markets - quarter after quarter of high profitability.

Thumbs of rule
I'm working with infrastrcture technologies and not any thing particular with the phones. But it's still tech front.

@Kryptik bro, check out tranquil's reply in this thread, seems like the more plausible explanation so far.
