I've added ya, welcome to the BB family
Much like everyone else seems to be saying on here, once you go Black(berry), you never go back
I've got the option of upgrading next month to a new new shiny expensive phone, like an N82 or N95-8GB or W960i etc, but I've almost decided that because I need my BB so much I'm going to get the upgrade and sell it lol

Or just wait for the 89XX or 9XXX series?
Posted by Daedalus85
True but the longer I wait for this upgrade, the longer I have to wait for the next one. It's better to get mine at the end of April, flog that and my 5610 (money money money money....money!) and then end of March next year upgrade to a newer BB. Or buy one in the summer, either way

Hey Thanks to everyone for the add, special thanks to tmagberry for the help in setting up and patience. Also thanks to Reg for the push into BB
I am truely impressed this is the first time since I cant remember when that I have used a none 3G phone (I lie I used an iphone but only for a few days) and I am quite impressed with the edge speed doesnt seem to be to much of a lag.
Ok so the MAPS are a bit of a let down but I will be looking to invest in a copy of Garmin XT which served me well on my N95-8Gb. I know some of you might be using google maps how you getting along with that?

I am a bit of a purist and therefore for Sat Nav i use a stand alone. TeleNav might be the answer for you.
For music, i use a seperate mp3, but the BB functions are good enough to use day to day

So I will be sending my BB away to have this done, alternatively I will just buy a new housing and send that to them to be painted reduce the down time of no phone.

Very cool looking, but do you really want to void your warranty so soon after you've got it? :/
Posted by themarques
If I can be honest, with regards to warranties I have never used them in my life I guess being that I dont keep a phone longer than 6 months its not really an issue for me and on a side note I guess there is always home insurance as a last resort.
Or the power of persuasion
Posted by Daedalus85
True, but if it breaks in a few days of next week, you're screwed
Posted by tmagberry
CAn i say that O2 have a f***ing cr*p warranty response system.
By Curve died, and i mean shut down. I have sent it to repairs and guess what , they reckon there is water damage but regardless of what i say or prove, they are prepared to drag it out so i miss out on my years warranty.
O2 cant find the fault with the phone and so they use s*it excuses to get round their obligations.
Rant over...
Posted by Daedalus85
I know I SHOULD defend them, it's built into my programming
But to be fair, I had a similar problem a couple of years ago with a K750i. This is before we were O2 (still The Link), so I spoke to the manager to 3 seperate occasions and eventually they arranged a replacement via the head of the repair centre. And what he told me (and I find this invaluable), it's not what you know, its who you know.
Anyway, there's one thing you need to take into account, O2 don't do the repairs for BlackBerry.
It's one of the few manufacturers where we HAVE to send it to BlackBerry themselves, our repair centre won't touch it I'm afraid, thus taking even longer.
Try giving BB a call and see if they'll sort something out (the companies themselves don't like it when angry customers call, so they throw replacements at them to get rid of them

It got to them before your year was over though, so they can keep it for 8 months they still had it before your year was over

True true, but like your post says its not what you know its who you know and I am yet to have someone refuse to repair a phone a classic example N95 I tried to flash it myself with Phoenix and I went through 4 phones haha but I still managed to get the store to replace each one
No I am not justifying my ways but its gonna take close to a month for the cover to arrive and get colorware to paint it etc so doubt very much il see any problems in that time but who knows.
Posted by Daedalus85
Hmm, software is v.hard to proove it was your fault (you can play innocence with that one), but changing the casing is pretty big and they may (or may not, you never know) clamp down and say no to repairing it.
But hey, your choice
Posted by fatreg
I wanna get my Pearl Colorwared, but I'd need a nifty keypad for it and they don't seem too easy to find

Actually and sorry to point this out, but O2 have a seperate company called SBE in Ashford that takes on the BB repairs. They report the fault to RIM and O2 and then O2 decide the course of action. Okay its not O2 directly but it certainly doesnt go to RIM.
This is the 2nd time they have tried to sly away from any repair.
On top of this they demand the phone be returned 3 times before considering any replacement.
Posted by fatreg
mine went away and got replaced first time
Posted by Daedalus85
Well the 3 times thing is true (although sometimes they'll replace it 1st or 2nd time, god knows why lol), but thanks for pointing the rest out to me.
As sales staff, we literally get alot of stuff from hear say (not the band!

You should get it done when you go on Holz to the states, depending how long you going to be there for time it right.
Posted by fatreg
2 weeks I'm there for... I guess I could time it right, although i have US contacts anyway so it's no biggy!
Posted by themarques
Well colorware wont take a housing they need the full housing (expected) so I might just buy one from them and sell the current mode. So keep an eye on my progress with this.

Doesn't Everyone? Personally I'd like to see the prototype of what Jim is carrying these days. (Jim the co-CEO).
Posted by fatreg
OS 4.5 is out there for 8300/8320 though!
Posted by tmagberry
Yes thats true....
Its in people's possession!
Posted by Burgaz
Now who in the world could of already gotten their hands on o/s 4.5?
And by the way.. does anyone recommend any games for the Curve? I just noticed a few interesting ones in the Esato Store!
Posted by themarques
So is it true this 4.3 that has been doing the rounds is the actual 4.5? Anyway on another note this is really hot if true kind of has the N96 esquire if real.

It's not 4.5 unless you've got video recording matey!!!
And yeah ya right that BB9000 does look a bit lovely!!
Posted by fatreg
ermm Burgaz..
I've got 4.3 and i can record video
can't see peoples pictures in messenger though like some people!
why oh why did I sell my Curve?!
Posted by themarques
Reg have u got html emails?
Posted by fatreg
nope
I've got OS 4.3 not 4.5
Posted by themarques
Are you using the leaked beta? Some guy did the update and then pulled the batter and now has html email
Posted by fatreg
No, my 8120 came with OS 4.3.... the leaked 4.5 is only for 8300, 8320 so I'm told...
Posted by Burgaz
but reg has a pearl... The new Curve 4.5 doesn't have html email... Well at least mine doesn't
Posted by themarques
Well I read some dude has html email on his 4.3/4.5 call it what you like after a battery pull. I will try and find the thread.
Posted by Prom1
OS 4.3 is renamed 4.5 for the next OS Firmware rollout. It was changed for marketing reasons. However anyone with an 8120/8130 has OS 4.3. Many features are already there, but in-line HTML and fonts and such will be updated when its released.
This BB 9000 will actually have an OS 4.6, from what I've read and talked to a few other BES Admins.
Personally this flat slate look on the front doesn't look so good, but that SCREEN has incredible Pixels/Square Inch density, more than the iPhone/iPod-Touch!!!! Just what 3G bands it'll offer remains a mystery.
Posted by Nanu
I wish I could try out 4.5!
That said I have HTML email on mine anyway so what use would it be to me??
Posted by tmagberry
You have 4.5 dont you. I heard you had a copy
Posted by fatreg
