Bah ok, fair enough, thanks

Still can't register online, I know O2 said 2 to 24 hours but it never takes any more than 6 and I called them at about 2 ish.

Meh, never mind, I'll call them AGAIN tommorrow to see if I can sort this frankly bizarre thing out.

Interesting...

Just tried getting my password sent to my BlackBerry from www.o2email.co.uk under the "forgotten password" section, and I put in my PIN and this message flashed up on my BB:

"You asked to have your password sent to your device.

User name and Password don't exist. Please use your device to access BlackBerry Internet Service"

Now, I know the service NORMALLY works because when I borrowed the Pearl it sent me the password, I just didn't know the username cause it wasn't mine.

So seems it's not a case of forgetting any details, but more it was never registered online. Yet it still won't let me register online lol.

Oh, and thanks tmag for your help, didn't get a chance to say thanks and didn't want to wake you up incase you'd gone to bed, given how late it is

Posted by Dicky Snapples
hey guys. I've gone back to using my pearl.
Feel free to add me- 205a202d

So how are all the new BlackBerry users getting on then?

Posted by tmagberry
Dicky - you'll just need a hangbag to go with your Pearl.

You will also make Burgaz jealous with that Green Pearl.

Posted by Daedalus85
Added you Dicky

Aside from the online account problems, it's going very well thanks Marc, glad I got it, although the trackwheel is starting to drive me mad, can't wait to get a trackball lol

Filters man, Filters

@Daedalus85; I thought it was BIS 2.4. Even though no username was set ... the PIN is associated. I was going to suggest to make sure the PIN isn't set for another provider but that doesn't seem to be ur case here. Was there a link in that message sent to your BB?

PS there are still a few ppl that prefer the trackball (very few), if you can find one that doesn't need the camera, wifi, etc of the newer curve/pearl models; see if they'll trade

Brign back the 8700 with Camera - i say!

Ok, I'm just putting my flame retardent suit on as we speak, cause this could be bad lol...

I've been stupid. Very stupid, very very stupid, in fact very very very VEEEEERY stupid. So stupid inface to the point I'm considering having myself sealed in a rubber room to protect myself from my own stupidy, I've been THAT stupid.

I had one last ditch look at the E-Mail settings link on my BB that goes to the BB version of the www.o2email.co.uk site. And there was one little bit at the bottom I forgot to look at.....

'Create User Name'

So what did I do? Clicked on it, registered and low and behold, it worked...

I need a lie down, I think my brain must be turning to mush or something lol.

So forgive me peeps, I was just being a little retarded the past couple of days, looks like theres nothing wrong with any of it, I'm just plain stupid lol.

One Word:

RETARD

Just kidding

I know, I've got a whole list of other names to go with it too, but thats the main one

Anyway, all working lovely now, got my sigs sorted, iching like MADDDD to get a Pearl 8120 or a Curve 8310 but I need to hold on and see if I'll benefit from the e-mails I get

At the moment, all I get are HTML email, gaaaah, when the hell are BB going to get out of the dark ages and let me see 90% of my e-mails?

Maybe when you look and get Empower or BBSmart HTML Viewer.

Or wait for the new batch of BB which will have HTML Borwsing enabled.

Empower is a good suggestion. But if you wait a few more months, they're be an update that the 8120/83xx/870x models SHOULD get for free when providers update the BIS as well. HTML emails and a few more options as well.

Cool thanks for that, I honestly didn't know HTML e-mail programs existed for the BlackBerry's

Only problem is, I reckon O2 will charge me for using that, unless it tricks it into thinking it's the same as a standard BB e-mail program.

I'll see if I can give them a call tommorrow about third-party applications using data and how much it costs.

Its a one of free to buy the program for all of about £10

Posted by Daedalus85
I meant the data charges, because if I can't use third-party apps like Opera and Google Maps without being charged then I dunno how they'd deal with a third-party e-mail client :/

Because you can take it from em that they dont. Of course you could check it out on their site if you dont trust it.

Zoots uses Empower, I do, i think Reggie does...And if he does then Nanu does....and they will all tell you the same

Posted by Daedalus85
So...O2 will be none the wiser? That'd be cool

I had a trawl through they're T&C's, and from what I can tell, so long as the program is set to use the BlackBerry Internet settings and not the O2 Active ones (because O2 Active is charged at £1/MB (pretty reasonable) where as the BB Internet one is included in the unlimited data), then it's ok.

Posted by fatreg
I don't use it, although Nanu does...

90% of my emails are text only.. any other can wait til I get home! (iTunes, ebay etc etc)

Posted by Daedalus85
Well I've set up a bunch of filters to get rid of the HTML ones for now, and the more important ones from my business are always text based so thats fine, it's just I'd like to read the HTML ones too. I guess I can hang on provided it will be an update for the current BB's and not something their going to bung in the 9x series.

btw, Daedalus85 ; these screenshots are NOT from a 9xxx series BB model. Its taken from a 8310 model. Updates for current models are coming; for HTML email and it'll be compressed so less data usuage than what WM users are used to. Peace.

EDIT: PS Tmag ... notice that the hardware of the post specifically has a HOME key? I'm wondering if this is not a patent for hardware (hopefully mistaken by the FCC; but doubtful), but maybe for the Windows Mobile Software that was to emulate the Blackberry for the new Connect (Blackberry on Windows Mobile)?? That was supposed to debut late last year but got delayed hand has been kept quite for some time??

I know it wasn't taken from 9x lol, I was just saying I hope RIM's official patch does definetely make it into the 8x series and they won't do a Nokia and hold off until the next series of phones comes out.

As Prom said before, the new OS that will be available will no doubt have this feature and we'll not need a new device.....

As i said - gimme an 8700 with a camera

Posted by PeterKay
Please don't shoot me folks,

Anyone want a BB 8700?

Not giving up BB yet but the 8700 is not for me, need a better looking thinner device.

£40 del if anyone wants it?

no tears Tom, not giving up yet

gimme more time

Posted by Daedalus85
I would have done if I hadn't bought Marc's 7100x. But only if the price was right

Then again, although it's only been 5 days, it's grown on me like a new limb. Rather than carrying it in my pocket, I seem to spend most of the time at work with it in my hand like it's an extension of my hand (just holding it, not nessecarily using it), much to the displeasement of my manager lol

Posted by fatreg
you'll end up shifting BBs at work like there's no tomorrow.. sales in my store went thru the roof when I started using a BB!

Posted by Daedalus85
Lol, well I HAVE started recommending them

And the line I use, which is the gods honest truth, is "I've been here almost 6 years, and I have yet to get e-mail working on any phone....until I got my BlackBerry" lol.

It's idiot proof (well, apart from one idiot like me, but less said of that the better ) and thats why customers love it.

Posted by Nanu
I always feel alone around where I live walking the streets with the BB permanently glued to my right hand, yet when I was in NYC every other f*#ker had one, which made me feel right at home with Uncle Sam!

Posted by PeterKay
they are pretty easy to use, must admit.

He'll come back from the dark side one day, don't worry

I downloaded BB Alerts the other night on my Dad's recommendation (he's got an 8820 through work, after god knows how many years they FINALLY gave him a BB), bloody brilliant piece of software, just need to configure it.

I like pretty flashing lights
