Do a battery pull.

BTW be easier for someone else to send you a message.

Sending one to yourself doesnt always give the right results.

Hi all,

OK not truly a Blackberry related devcie question but it is Blackberry related as I'm sure some of you are aware i have an E90, that currently i have the free Beta of Seven push E-Mail on now if and when the Beta ends rather than paying for it. I could install Blackberry Connect 4.0 which my devcie supports whats cervices would this give me? would it be just push E--Mail or would it give me the PIN services you all go on about so much as well?

Marc

Just the email unfortunately Dogmann!

Posted by Dogmann
Hi Nanu,

Actually after doing some more digging i found that's not quite true and i would be able to receive PIN messages but unfortunately not respond which sort of defeats the purpose i think.

Also i don't know if perhaps VodaFone just have the worst pricing or not but the best i could get it for would be £8 and change pm, where as i can get Seven always on E-Mail for just £65 a year which kind of makes it a no brainier i think.

Oh well maybe I'll just have to get a Blackberry at some point with just the Blackberry Data service instead as i must admit i am very curious about these devcies for E-Mail. But thanks for your fast response but it's just not to be well no yet anyway i seems.

Marc

Hi Marc,

Vodafone do have the worst pricing with O2 and T-Mob offering the best deals AFAIK, one thing with BlackBerry service is you are not just paying for the "push" it covers your data allowance, so unless I am wrong Seven only charges you for the push and the rest comes out of your data allowance? (your on W n' W anyway if I remember correctly) but also connecting to the internet via BIS and IM such as JiveTalk and the BB messenger are all part of the monthly fee!

T-Bag will either back me up on that or come in and destroy me!

I think getting a BB without a Voiceplan are just as good if you dont mind having 2 phones.

I would advise anyone getting a BB to have an unlimited plan - You can then really abuse them.

Whilst i also agree the Blackberry Connect for non true BB devices is a good move, you dont get the functionality.

BB lives off the Messenger ability as well as the email and other push services, and once you have got it, it is hard to get rid of....

Posted by fatreg
BB connect doesn't compare IMO...

I've used it fairly extensively on my E70 and for want of another word, it's pap. as tbag has said, push services, pin messages and messenger are what BB is all about, I've diverted away from the BB for a few weeks in the last year or so, but i soon go back to BB, so much so that I am now on my 5th BB device...

Oh man you and me BOTH!
Native Word/Excel/PPT Editing, Creation for Word, Excel later on with an update.
* HTML Email (in beautiful non bloated supremacy, BIS 2.5+, BES 4.1.5)

I get so jittery i just cannot believe it.

BUT sadly for me to fully enjoy a blackberry on my prefered network provider (GSM) I must wait until unlimited internet surfing is true and not pricey. I could just go with an 8130 on CDMA and enjoy but I detest CDMA and phone selection limitations.

HTML email will be a sort out good and proper..

mac emails on my BB that actually display! couldn't ask for more

Hi all

Again many thanks for all the information and help and advice it is appreciated i think i will have to wait for boredom to set in. Then get a BB from 02 with just a data plan as i believe theirs is unlimited. Currently i don't have a data plan just use WiFi as am Home 22hrs a day so a d Data plan is a little unnecessary and pointless at the moment. If my specialist manges to sort my pain out hopefully that will change but it's been over a year of just getting worse.

Also you may of noticed i am considering buying PK a BB just to get him away from SE maybe we could have a whip round it must be worth it NO?

Marc - O2's plan is £10 for unlimited usage.....

Whether or not you have the Wifi option at home you need the Data Plan to make the BB work properly....

Using a BB without on plan but on Wifi is a real beatch....

@tmagberry

Yeah i did realise that which why i have said i need to wait till i am actually better and spending more time out of the House for it to be worthwhile. But i do at some time intend to try a Blackberry just to see just what all the fuss is about as do realise they are great devcies indeed but at the rate I'm going they should have a 3G version by the time my health improves sufficiently unfortunately.

@Marc, Glad you're back posting ... in a mature thread.

The 8707 although an old model does use a Qualcomm 3G (UMTS only) chipset so there in London if Vodafone still offers it you can maybe get an older model on the cheap just to get your feet wet. But first get healthy, fresh air and recenter your chi.

if you really prefer 3G HSDPA, you may have to wait until summer or September before it debuts. But we're still unsure on this hopefully sooner than later.

Or PIN him

Posted by fatreg
only PIN I have for him shows him "unavailable"

Posted by Dogmann
Hi Fatreg,

Unfortunately cnn have a pretty bad reputation as saying things are OEM when they are not and i have read loads of post's complaining about what they do. I know many here think they are great but i suppose it's just a case of buyer beware personally i wouldn't buy anything from them but then i hate anything that is not original especially when that's what you are paying for.

Oh I know Marc, I purchased an 8800 Astom Martin housing from them a few years back that was OEM and it was anything but OEM.. took me forever to get a refund off them, my problem being it's nigh on impossible to track down BB spare parts!

Posted by Dogmann
Hi Fatreg,

I would of thought once bitten twice shy applies best here along with if in doubt don't always works for me.
