Nanu - you are starting to sound like a pro!
really? nothing that I didn't help with the service books or default browser hint 3pages ago? No credit when its due, eh? Man that isn't cool.
Shortcuts are within the 2 help menu's (1 is an app, the other is a browser shortcut to RIM's site.).
12mths is NOT impressive. RIM only increased subscriber base by 3.5Million in the last 12mths ... that is why their stock took a dip this past mth; along with 2 network issues ... which MUST STOP HAPPENING SO OFTEN! prior to 12mths ago ever quarter added 1million subscribers or more, then bagan to slow down past August of 2007. I left BlackBerry because from the Consumer point of view their lacking WAY too much. That and data rates Last January here in Canada hurt the cheque book WAY too much. I'm hoping to change then when I start working there - I've applied today so I'll see what happens by end of this month.
Some improvements RIM needs to do
* Less Infrastructure Outtages: MS is going to be launching Mobile Center for Server/Exchange/AD very shortly. This is going to bring it close in competition against RIM; ESPECIALLY for new subscriber growth (Corp or Provider deals). RIM needs to open up another NOC center - Texas may be that 2ND NOC center.
* Auto Focus - the Pearl & Curve are still marketed as consumer devices. Consumers like to take clear photos; then bring AutoFocus to the newer handsets that have cams.
* BIG IMPROVEMENT in Data Charges rates that providers were charging (Prior to 4mths ago). Now lets make Internet Surfing into the mix for providers still stagnant in offering a true and cheap unlimited data plan. Europe & USA may have it already, But in Canada its embarrasing we don't when RIM is a Canadian company: yes their as Canadian as Maple Syrup.
If you want more ppl to use RIM ... especially SE users ... you've got an uphill battle. Leaked information is VERY rare on RIM devices compared to every other platform. This alone is going to hurt your avg SE user. Product Lines are refreshed every 12mths - with integral updates for model segments (8100, 8120, 8130; new 8330 for CDMA networks). You gotta use your Blackberry in other ways besides just Messaging (Email, PIN, SMS, MMS). You MUST be able to resolve most of your own issues - when somebody in public asks about your device and sees the problem & you can resolve it quickly (or know how to get it resolved) then you're they GO-TO person when they FIRST purchase this device (we have this thread here but going to an SE site for BB issues is a bit weird no? Its cool though)!
* 3G for the rest of the world and more MODERN model that has 3G for Europe. 8707 is very LONG in the tooth now; larger in dimensions (overall) than that 8800 series. Its high time that RIM release a Dual or Tri-band 3G devices.
* Upgrade that browser already PLEASE! It must render sites quicker! This'll help consumers use it along with Opera Mini. I prefer the built-in browser because of ease of bookmark use and links to be saved quickly, and I can back them up.
* From now on there should be 3 tierd devies.
1) ALL to have minimal quadband GSM & GPS. or CDMA & GPS.
2) Tier II devices to have 3G & GPS & WiFi.
3) Tier III devices Gotta have it ALL 3G, WiFi, GPS, Dual Mode. (this can be killed off IF CDMA providers move to LTE networks) Heck bring on the LTE devices in 2yrs time.

Keep the CURVE for now. Sell it when word on a new 3G model is to debut this summer. Ever see a crack fiend have withdrawals, even in a movie? Remember Chris Rock in New Jack City "Give me a hit, a dollar, I'll suck your &!@&" lol. Thats what you'll be in 1 week if you love your emails and calendar.

I hope so too. RIM as we all know stands for Research In Motion ... and that is EXACTLY what they've been doing.
This is what we should ALL be doing to help the platform. I'd LOVE to see what they're going to do with the MIDP3.0 when its finalized this summer/Fall this year. I'm also going to be learning Java coding and rimlets beginning next week.

* Oh yes, more importantly MORE memory in each new device from here on out. 64MB is not cutting it anymore. Ppl are using multiple applications at once BOTH on a consumer and Corporate MDS implementation and I'm hearing that the hourglass (starfish if on Vodafone theme) more and more & prolonged (past 40seconds).
What would you all will agree is an acceptable "wait" (hourglass) for when launching apps, switching apps (8 minimal that are running: 4-5 run by default).

Yup I am. I don't want glory, just awareness that I did offer help. It was ignored and somebody took not to get to that line of thinking, thats all. We all contribute, and it may not make sense to others new to the platform, but the help shouldn't be ignored because some of us don't have a BB currently. Of course there are differences per provider because BIS service books differ for different offerings, but devices are rudimentary the same.

Guilty conscience? Nah I just thought you were upset at me, because you didn't mention a name and with Nanu's post for me to pay attention, and you posting directly after me had me confused.
Lets all get off on a better foot here - we don't want this thread going like that K850i FIrmware thread did for 50+pages, let alone 1 page (that is a waste of server space & I participated in that thread).
Anyone have suggestions for effective wordlist or shortcut words? As in somebody types Igbty = I'll get back to you, or pnmwuic = please notify me when update is completed. Anything that'll help in typing timely email responses that would benefit us all?

No mate you can't but I've never had a problem with the apps being on the device memory, just make sure you save all your media to your external memory!

Guys just a quick question.
Sorry if it has been asked already.
With the Blackberry, 8320 to be exact, would i be able to receive emails from 2 accounts?
Need emails from my Hotmail and Gmail accounts? Would that work?
Thanks.
Posted by Dicky Snapples
you can receive email from multiple accounts. not sure what the maximum is, but i currently have 4 different email addresses set up on my blackberry.
gmail will work no problem. But for hotmail you will need to subscribe to MSN Hotmail Plus in order for it to work with the blackberry

Nanu is correct; however there is NOTHING in the SDK "Preventing" users from having apps store Data to the memory card - like full databased, but its yet to be ever implemented; something I'm HOPING will change - maybe even the full apps so that extra device memory is not needed for those running sooo much apps & data at a time (I'm talking 10 plus apps the size of Yahoo GO!).
OMG! Dicky Snapples is BACK posting!

in BIS you can have up to 10 email accounts
i have my hotmail account working perfectly without subscribing to MSN plus

Effectively you can have 11 accounts, 10 of which you can set up POP3 & IMAP, and the other is 1 directly for your BlackBerry and will be in the form of your service provider ie Mercman@instantemail.t-mobile.co.uk etc
What you'll find with Hotmail if you have an older email address all will work fine, not sure of the actual date, but the newer ones will only allow you to send from the BlackBerry and not receive!
Unless as Dicky mentioned you pay for the extra service, this is fine if you use it a lot, but if your a cheapskate like me just wean yourself off of hotmail and onto Gmail or Yahoo as both work great, both are developing apps for BlackBerry faster than they are for other platforms and both are free!

You're right!!
You are a noob. . . . . . . .
Taken from hotmail. . . . .
"Forwarding
You can forward your mail to one other e-mail address that ends in hotmail.com, msn.com, live.com, or custom domains. You'll receive an e-mail at that address asking you to verify your account."
So I guess you can, still not the same though!
