Don't worry, RIM listen's to their customers and they quickly fix issues! Properly functioning and secure platform the MUST maintain ... they have at LEAST three large Governments that have HUGE contracts already paid for in advance to keep them on their toes

read on crackberry that all curves will get the update along with the 8800/8820/8830 so that seems good to me

Hey guys and gals. After reading around and reading this thread i wanna piece of the action and want a blackberry
But which one would you guys suggest to me?
Requirements - Small In Size, Camera, Wi-Fi, Decent Battery Life and be reasonably priced
I'm looking at the 8120? Seems to have everything i want.... Anybody any other ideas?
Cheers
Posted by MWEB
It's that or the 8320 for your needs Scott, the 8120 looks less like it has done ten rounds with the ugly stick mate so i suggest that, BTW how many of you BB users have Macs ?
Posted by The Lostprophet
you know i have a mac as well mark
scott look at the curve (8230 i think) has wifi camera ect.
also remember you need to add BB content on to your contract as well. so you can use push email ect.
so far im happy with mine
Posted by fatreg
I've an 8120 Scottt and it's brill.. only downside to a new BB user is suretype... but you soon get used to it..
it wipes the floor with the P1/M600 keypad idea
Burgaz..
i know nothing about GPS on BB as tomtom don't work!! Garmin does but you have tp pay.... tbag has some kind of GPS on his Curve... (he's at Disney atm though so don't be pinning him!)
ooooh pink pearls....

I've got four Macs.
My g/f got a Pink Pearl 8110 on Saturday. She's learned the virtues of PIN messaging and has been sending me non-stop messages all evening! LOL
Posted by fatreg
I've got a Mac too...
shame pocketmac isn't updated as I'd like..
still can't sync my 8120 but that's a problem I'm willing to forgo for all the benefits BB has given me!
Posted by scottt
after reading more and more on the 8120 I really do fancy one, so going to keep my eye on the bay' for one
I guess adding BB on my tariff will just be a case of ringing O2 and asking them to add it on aye?
Thanks
Posted by fatreg
yeah O2 will charge you £10 a month for it.. but that does give you 1gb of data...
Zoots recently sold his as new 8120 for £150 (I think)
they are £250 BNIB from carphone...
oh, and no mine's not for sale (unless you wanna buy me a pink 8110!?)
Posted by Burgaz
Don't listen to Reg...
Get a Curve 8320!!
Posted by fatreg
^^ Listen to Burgaz?! you must be joking! 8320 isn't launched yet anyway Mr Man...
Posted by Burgaz
Isn't it? Oh?
Anyway. I just bought a k850... Don't even ask me why... One of those impulse thingies i guess... Anyone wanna swap it for an ipod or PSP?
Posted by fatreg
I've got a PSP slim n lite Burgaz....
this could be bloody long drawn out swap..
I had a K850, swapped it for a P1, then swapped that for a 8120, then swapped my 8300 for a viewty, then swapped that for a PSP....
am I really go right back to the start!?
Posted by Burgaz
hahahaha!
Oh well i haven't got it yet it's apparently in the post...? But we'll see.
I've just signed up to the blackberry owners lounge on blackberry.com (i've been up since 5am couldn't sleep, bloody night shifts) and i've got to say... it's a load of rubbish...
Posted by The Lostprophet
i might swap my psp for your k850i...its a normal one though...
i didnt even join blackberrys owners thing, desided that crackberry was enough for me and didnt want to confuse myself!

Put the PIN in the PIN Field.
Alternatively add by email address however, you cant then send PIN to PIN message - which are like emails
If you don't have the persons PIN yet ... just type in a memopad or email compose field the word "mypin" (no spaces) and press space bar AFTER and voila your PIN is listed. Copy & paste and add here.

Good show Scott.
Some advice solid BES experienced & user Troubleshooting advice.
* Shortcuts that are common on qwerty BB's are going to be different on the 8120.
* VM pw. You can setup your BB to have this - much differently than saving it as a contact with the "p" for pause and then the access # after it like many on the SE phones have to do. I suggest that you set this up FIRST before looking for themes and such. The letters on any BB or qwerty phone are different that standard cellphones/payphones/etc. If you're like me that associates pw's with words you're going to be in trouble trying to access your voicemail if you don't follow this subtle advice.
Many full QWERTY individual BB keyboard users (7200/8800/8300 series users) CANNOT and prefer not to goto the Suretype devices. Its backwards thinking to them, thats why Burgaz is suggesting to goto the 8320; which btw Fatreg IS already released by Tmobile USA months ago - unsure about Tmobile Germany/UK though.
I've owned the 8100 Pearl for 4-5mths roughly and my first week I was hellow slow with typing SMS let alone emails. However I got VERY quick even quicker than some ppl on the 8300 because I customized certain names (surnames of colleagues especially), words, phrases in the Custom Word List (in Options> Custom Word List) of my Pearl before going ballistic.
Some caution, which will be solved with the next OS update coming soon - Spellcheck the full check. Some 4 letter names "may" come out wrong and you may not notice it. Be careful especially if its your BOSS' name you're addressing in an email.
Lastly, Scott. Learn the Pearl shortcuts for paging down/up instead of endlessly scrolling through posts like this one
PS: someone requested information regarding Mapping applications.
Take a look at the thread on this site.
http://www.blackberryforums.com/gps-mapping/
VERY VERY important reading for those of you that wish for offline GPS maps (stored on the MicroSD card ...) read on this thread, even register and post your feelings on it.

PS Mark Rehjon has posted MANY MANY helpful tips & information regarding BB's that LED BB's to what they are now! I I've seen the correlation between his posts, replys' and device & network progression - including Rogers Wireless (notorious for being greedy) in offering a more swallowable (not acceptable, but comfortable) data rates for BB's. This is how mountains CAN be moved!

This is what i need to do... i need a web n walk service book..
Found this on pinstack:
If Orange France are like T-Mobile in the UK, the BB's own browser will be configured to use the operator's WAP gateway. This will stop some sites from working, including mobile.blackberry.com. It's actually not the browser itself, but rather the service book that configures how the browser operates. What you need is the service book that configures the built-in browser as the 'BlackBerry Internet Browser'. T-Mobile brand this as a 'web n walk' service. Orange may or may not be able to make it available to you in some form.
Posted by tmagberry
Well there is your answer Zoots
And you are missing out on Themes and of course the latest wicked game LINGO.
Posted by tmagberry
Also Zoots, i you put your theme onto the T-Mobile UK, you should get the WnW icon on the home screen? If not change your Theme and try one that shows the BB Browser. Then at least you will get the right icon....
As for the configuration of the browser you should be able to change that yourself.
Have you tried that?

All sorted... i spoke to a nice guy from tmobile blackberry support called Darren.
He sent me new service book to change my browser to webnwalk, also changed some settings on there master system and now i can access mobile.blackberry.com
im a happy bunny....

I got myself a blackberry curve 2 weeks ago, and i have to say i never been more satisfied. Everything work flawlessly, and i don't have to worry about ram or other things. Its stable and most of the function are implemented very well.
So far i installed the facebook, viigo, opera mini, and worldmate live applications. if there are other application that you guys recommend let me know?.
The only thing I don’t like about the blackberries is the cost of 3rd party applications
One other thing, i know that i can use keyboard shortcut to run application but i am not really sure how to activate that option can anybody help me with that?
Posted by Nanu
welcome!!
Get your pin on here!!
To use keyboard shortcuts you need to disable dial from home screen!
Home screen>green dial key>blackberry key>scroll to options>general options>dial form home screen>NO
shortcuts=
N=BB Messenger
A=Address Book
M=Messages
C=Compose
L=Calender
U=Calculator
R=Alarm
F=Profiles>L=Loud>V=Vibrate>Q=Quiet>N=Normal>P=Phone only>O=Off
T=Tasks
O=Options
S=Search
D=Memopad
H=Help
B=Browser
K=Keylock
V=Saved Messages
One thing to watch for is memory, if it gets too full the Curve will delete old messages, sms and messenger conversations, there are ways to combat this and a BlackBerry forum will be your friend!!
