Here I was going to say wrong; you can use Desktop Redirector, but below it seems RIM is completely phasing this out OR its because Hotmail has enabled POP3/IMAP now .... and this is something new as well ...

Try this:
Log into that or create a new account if you haven't already.
Under Email Accounts, click Set Up Account.
Put in any email and any password (make them the same though). Basically, we want it to fail. And click Next. It will do it's "processing" for a minute and then ask for Additional Information.
Select "I will provide the settings to add this email account." and click Next.
Select "This is my work email account." and click Next.
Select "I can access my email account using a Web browser (Outlook® Web Access)" and click Next.
As for the settings, that's up to you. Now I will note that it took me some tinkering to get mine to successfully log in. Here's why. I have my own domain controller/exchange server at home. My log in name is "Firstname Lastname" with the space in there. I ended up having to use "Firstname " for the username.
But once you get the right settings, you should be good to go.
Thanks to BlackberryForums.com for this.
WHERE? LINK please?!

I'm about to get a BB Bold next week and given the lack oF Bb experience and not so muck software,I guess I'll be visiting you guys quite a lot (been doing so on Esato for the last 6 years,so...).So I guess I need a membership card in this fine BB Club which will teach0me a lot!;)

which is the best blackberry smartphone?
i have been using touchscreen for a long time.. from past 4 months am using e71 and tht's my first nokia phone and am not liking it at all. i don't watch to switch to SE back because i don't want to use Windows and xperia is the best one in sony ericsson. basically i want fully power packed smartphone and out of all i see lot of potential in blackberry storm. even though it doesn't have wifi it's touchscreen and has all the features. i can get a dataplan and get over wifi.

Oh,believe me,my P1i is over-used and I plan to use the Bold just the same.I'll ask a lot of dumb questions as this system is totally different,so bear with me, ok?:))
@indiandawg: I'm on the same situation but I've tried the Storm and it sucks big time. It's slow and has LOTS of bugs,so I settled to get the best BB to date:the Bold.Check it out. I am finally confident I can move away from touchscreen after trying out the Bold.

Bold or Javelin currently are the best imho.
You will find the OS simple and a BB can be made very individual. Just play around. You will find it hard to brick a BB

I only have one major concern:lack of software.I'm afraid I'll need some basic program, like a Call Filter (I know there are some but every reviewer has complaints) and I won't find one. PLUS they're all very expensive!A simple program costs even 50$?!!! That's like 35 Euros! Are they nuts?

Is the iCall Manager the best call filter out there?Cuz if it's so-t's pathetic compared to ACM for UIQ!

He definatley will find the OS simple; especially coming from a Palm OS (not WebOS) past as most of the basic menu structure & applications (db+application) structure works - to me at least. Individuality is great when it comes to AutoText or Themes with the later still limited as it doesn't change the Options Menu or add new specifics such as custom fonts (limited). But most ppl that give the BlackBerry (traditional QWERTY units) a try usually like them.
Bricking a BB is NOT hard to do if you define BRICK as in crashing it.
Run several applications (10+) that use high memory installations (over 1MB) and even the BOLD can caugh up a "Uncaught exception" or NullPointerException" error. Most end users don't see this as often as those on a corporate BES+MDS implementation. So don't worry too much about it.

Berry, by whitelist do you mean freeware applications? BB is getting much better these past few months with consumer applications - my biggest gripe. I'm still looking for GPS applications on BB that allow user to store map data to the MicroSD card and reference locations without having to use data plan or turn-by-turn navigation (as I personally haven't found the need for it yet). Consumer apps are still lacking but some excel like a new GYM app for workouts I found.
One thing all new users need to be cautioned on is that MOST BB applications - the ones beyond core RIM offerings will cost you $$(money). Not absurd amounts but will cost you.
BB has its own social networking app: BB_Messenger
Lastly the majority of apps lately for BB are becoming browser based; a bad thing in my humble opinion because the browser is slow versus other smartphone OS'. The J2ME based (.alx) are pretty good. RIM is working with web administrators of popular sites to improve rendering on the BB Browser, but I think they should overall the Browser entirely starting from scratch.
I may get an 8120 as I like suretype or await the next 3.5G BB qwerty.

btw, 701,
Get your Bold quick and leave your PIN here, add the others in the club and they can assist you live via BB_Messenger.
Is anyone looking forward to a BB that has a video call camera to use with BB_Messenger?

Mine was slow to start but got better.
Posted by Merc_Man
Yep must be just mine.
Had quite a lot of credit on the phone. And its all gone, spoke to them and they said the person I spoke to forgot to put the correct BB package on, so they are looking into it again.
Should be sorted soon.

Mines not even started working yet, the sim was enabled for BB data after a quick call to CS, but still can't set it up. The techies are trying to sort it but not received any confirmation text yet, will give them another call tomorrow, luckily I've not had the £5.00 credited to the add-on yet.
Posted by shelly58
well i can honestly say ive had no trouble at all phoned cs and the guy on the other end who i might add spoke very good english could'nt help enough and everything was set up and working by the time i came of the phone, touch wood has been so since

The CS's didn't seem to know what they were doing but they put me through to a woman in the Blackberry team who was very helpful and she said they were experiencing one or two issues like mine. Other than that the phones good although I've had lots of Blackberrys previously, though obviously on contract.
Posted by shelly58
well i must be one of the lucky ones as my emails sending as well as receiving have been running fine in fact they actually told me it might take up to 48 hrs to activate but was in fact up and running by the time i came off the phone....only problem now is im totally addicted to my BB
Posted by Berry
Mine is working fine too.
Had a small issue but fixed it pretty quick.
Just need some signal now at home

One thing I have noticed is how much nicer the keypad is to use than the original Pearl 8100, really like the dark blue colour too, once I get the email side of things working it will be a cracking handset.

Did you set up your BIS account on the net?
You might need to send your Service Books?
Posted by bearcub24
Yes maybe, because at the moment in the email set up theres only BES listed, the Gprs is showing GPRS so I assume data has been enabled.

Is this from the handheld? Or from the Orange BIS site?
and Capital GPRS means BB Data active
Posted by bearcub24
Tried to register via the www.blackberry.orange.co.uk site and it says my device is already registered, looks like I'm just going to have to wait for Orange to sort things out, but its frustrating.
Posted by bearcub24
Well rang Orange CS AGAIN! this morning, this time got put through to another department, the guy was really helpful, deregistered the handset, re-registered it and then sent all the service books. All is fine now, got my email accounts working. Everything appears to be ok, MMS and browser working. Is there a seperate department that deals with Orange Blackberry problems, the standard CS didn't seem to know what to do but when I got transfered they did seem to know what they were talking about and much more helpful and efficient.
Ah well, its sorted now.
Posted by dougproctor
It's very difficult to get to the BB section of Orange. I normally ring either 156 or 150 and push any of the buttons and just ask for BB. I must admit they are more savvy than they used to be. It used to be "Blackberry?"
