Hello dudes,
Anyone know how i can install 3rd party apps on my enterprise bold?
Posted by Dogmann
Hi all,
I've just downloaded a new Beta firmware which is now V4.6.0.210 will report after 24hrs how i find it. It can be found by searching Berry Review.
@Superluminova
Not sure but think it can only be by admins as that's the whole point of the extra security layer with enterprise devices IT sets and controls all the Policy it's up to them what you can and can't install or do.

Have you tried re-registering your HRT?

host routing table under advanced options open it press the bb key and register now
Probably won't fix it but worth a try and certainly won't cause any harm!
Posted by Superluminova
Didn't help, cheers anyways.

Hi Superluminova,
Sorry if this sounds silly but being an enterprise Bold don't your IT department set it's policies and have to activate it for you? As i thought that was the whole point of having an enterprise device the IT department can control what you do and don't do on the device.

Hi Marc,
Nah they just give you a password and then you enterprise activate the phone in the setup section.

I'm lovin' my Curve 8900 - just need to get used to the smaller keyboard though. Quite impressed by the camera (having come from the Curve 8310 and Bold beforehand).

Install them the same way you would if you're not on Enterprise.

Odd sympton. By reset you mean just reseating the battery right? Not a wipe? If so try deleting Desktop [SYNC], [MIME], and maybe [CICAL] and in Options> Security Options> General, go to the bottom and highlight the listing under "services" and click on Menu> Regenerate Encryption key. Wait a few minutes (5 tops) and go back into service books and check if those are now listed - scroll through entire service books to ensure they're there.

If you're on BES then its most likely; depending on policies by the Admin - not the Helpdesk rep that you called into, hehe, has restricted 3rd party apps (some if not all). But in this case maybe retricted BBMessenger as you're able to save the email attachments to the microSD then send via BBMessenger and thus a security risk perceived by the IT department.
@Nanu, HRT is done automatically everytime you remove & reseat your SIM in the same or a new BB device. Basically the device talks to the network & to RIM APN to their infrastructure. It shouldn't be considered for troubleshooting; unless it doesn't occur - usually when Radio is OFF or no data connection (GPRS, EDGE, 1X, 1xEV, or 3G : all being in uppercase). You're thinking is in the right direction but not with HRT. Going to Options> Mobile Networks> menu Diagnostics> Menu = RUN and seeing if your corporate (BES) or personal (BIS) email address is connected THEN you'd have sound Admin troubleshooting.
@SuperLuminova, if those service books do not comeback contact your HD rep and have either him/her (if they have access to the BES Manager) or the BES Admin to resend you those service books - their not the providers' (Orange/Vodafone/O2/etc) service books.
Posted by Hardened
@SuperLuminova,
1> Quick troubleshooting on the BBMessenger.
- Options> Application Options> See if its listed, if so delete it!
2> BBDM. Application Loader. Run it, see if it prompts to install it.
Warning: do a FULL backup first. Just in case if either doesn't work. Then upgrade the firmware. Check with the BES Admin to provide you a Wireless E.A. pw set for 48hrs.

Thank you for your invaluable advice I will now probably sleep tonight as I didn't last night due to misleading Super
Sometimes the device doesn't automatically register when the sim is reseated just as it didn't when I reseated it into the Bold this afternoon, but luckily for such instances RIM enabled the option to manually register on the network and hey presto I received notification of activation on the server and all was fine again.

I have given up on mines lol
Had it a months and its already been replaced once and now its getting replaced again.
Pile of mince, think of just buying a nokia e71 instead.

Well, i try and buy virtually everything, i enjoyed using the BB infinitely more than the iphone thats for sure, if i ran contract SIM's instead of PAYG ones i'd seriously consider one longer term

Hi!
I am searching, but does nyone have the link for Vodafone Sat Nav, within this thread?
found on page 115, installed now......
I have another problem, with my memory card.
Does anyone have problems with their memory cards? I have tried two 8gb cards in my Bold. Formatted them using Windows, and also have use the Bold to format.
Transferred files using a card reader, and also transferred using the desktop manager,
I have English, Japanese and Chinese installed. So when I transfer Japanese music, a card error message is shown advising me to run a disc check utility.
Even downloaded a formatting program by Panasonic and still errors after transferring music.
The only thing I can think of, is Asian fonts are not compatible !
Any ideas?

Hi all,
Well i was a BB newbie when i got my Bold late August and bar the really rough 0.92 first firmware i had on it has been rock solid with no problems at all.
I have flashed it loads of times as each time anew Beta Firmware is released i grab it and virtually each one has just improved the Bolds performance further. I wouldn't swap my Bold for an E71 and a pile of cash as IMO bar the build materials the Bold is just so much better then each to their own. Obviously i can only speak from my own experience which has been excellent and problem free, i mean for the first time ever i even took apart my phone and fitted a new bezel and even that was pretty easy. Now idea why some of your Bolds have given you so much grief but i don't think you are the only ones as others also seem to have problems to although a minority of users it sucks when it happens to you.
@Ofiaich
I suppose the only way and easiest way to find out is try a memory card with no foreign stuff on it and see if it still gives an error. If it doesn't add it and if the error then appears logic would say that is what causes the problem, no idea why though as i would of thought Data is Data and just 000's and 111's in whatever language. What make are your data cards? and i would definitely format them in the Bold not Windows. We know Asian Fonts are supported so can't imagine why the wouldn't be on the memory card as it's just another drive being read.

thanks Marc,
done that.
Without Japanese music files, the card is OK. I did transfer a Japanese album to the device memory, and that then could not be read.
So I have to format the device memory.
Interestingly, my address book, and schedule has many Chinese and Japanese inclusions. Some photo's too have Japanese names.
Both cards are Sandisk,

Right first off having used a BB for nearing on a year, I have to say its an amazing device stable software, amazing email and well good form factor. That is until I tested the X1 Xperia, damn was I blown away....
I am not one for writing reviews and I wont start now, but I am in environments that require me to a)have some form of gps mapping b)quick response time and all round solid form factor for the elements.
The X1 brings all that, push email, restarting of phone from cold in seconds (this is very very important to me as blackberries take on average to many minutes) I could be in a hotspot and need to make a call quick and thats just not going to happen with a BB. Secondly maps, this is meant to be a business phone but not everywhere you visit has GPRS to download maps, this was the deal breaker to be honest, with WM6 I got every map I will ever need and even for the most remote locations. Finally 3rd party apps, I am a strong believer in once you buy the phone free apps (legal) are really what this world needs as I am sure you all know that list is endless on WM6.
So what am I saying, well the day BB allows offline maps, and a few more free apps developed and opened up to more developers il be back, but for now its Sayonara from me and X1.
Goes off whistling in the wind
Posted by Dogmann
@themarques
Which just goes to prove we are all different the X1 lasted under 24hrs with me before being sold and after 4 months the Bold just gets better and better. The text on the Bold you have just so many choices on the X1 it's tiny and sorry but any device that needs a series of tweaks and fixed to even operate normally straight out the box is a great big fail for me. I also love the fact i have needed to add so little to the Bold to do all i want. But hey if you like the X1 and WM good for you i certainly didn't like it all, in fact couldn't shift it fast enough.

@Dogmann And like you say everyone is different, the Bold is an amazing device no doubt for simplicity and speed. But like I said major drawback for me was offline gps. With regards to the tweaks well come on, I think secretly we all love to do a bit of hacking here and there to make the device "custom".
I don't think any device is perfect out of the box and the Bold had its fair shares of problems if memory serves me right, but that's were the problem comes not much you can do on the Blackberry OS to sort the problem out "yourself", you have to wait on a firmware update. And so I applaud the WM community and their constant drive to make the device as custom as you like. I'm a lover of bespoke and this has tailored to my needs right down to what it offers.

Login to your providers BIS service (or from your BB Browser which I'd advise if you have NOT done so already as future provisioning on the same PIN will be done on the device itself!)
Then in signatures (or directly from messages> Options> Email settings>

This is just about a FULL year OVERDUE from RIM. I'll bet the following was the reason for the long delay ...
* Bold, Storm, and 8900 Curve
- Their new OS, HTML-Email support for BIS & BES, new higher resolutions, cameras, video, 3.5G (HSDPA & EVDO RevA if you wanna include it).
- Larger market share!
- Their newer BOLD being released in China - traditionally a WM stronghold market.
Posted by ofiaich
Thanks for that Prom1!
you can see in my edit, that Nanu told me the same as you.
No signatures now.
My main issue now is making the memory card accept Japanese MP3's with Japanese titles. As soon as I transfer some to the memory card or the phones memory, errors are reported and the card or phone memory needs a reformat. So annoying.
