Hi Nanu!

Format the card using your BlackBerry, this may be where the problem lies to do so, go to options>media card>BlackBerry key> format card

don't have that as an option and cannot find the equivalent as yet.

I can find options > memory > which tells me the media support is on..

but at the bottom of that screen it says Media card cannot be read. Verify that the memory card is formatted.

But can't find where to do that on the device as yet.

congratulation on your storm!

i was wondering could you do like a mini review for us ?
like how fast the device is ? how does clicking the screen feel ? also is there a gap when you push down the device ?

i have the bold now but thinking of getting the storm and returning the bold

Posted by ofiaich
Hi MYB87,

if I get time I will. This week I have 9 meetings and none will be conducted in English.

At the moment, the Storm is being a pig to setup but that is because my BB knowledge is zero.

Nanu is helping me big time!

Hi!

2. want to synch with Outlook contacts and appointments

First you need to install desktop manager, and then attach the device to your computer set up sync and then sync, let me know where you are getting stuck

This now works and photos are shown in contacts. Unfortunately, appointments and contacts with Japanese names show only as black boxes...

To format the card goto Options/ Memory then press the Blackberry button. Format should be there.
To use exchange you need a BES server software and BES activated on your Vodafone account. BES on Vodafone is about £30 a month.

Anyone wanna play with a Storm or even the new 8900 Curve can play with one here:

Hi jcwhite,

yes, found it now, thanks. The BlackBerry button is the button with a rash..I have been rubbing some ointment on that button

Hmm, the person in store implied that I could use the exchange server with the tariff that I changed to.

Any ideas how to install a language from the cd? I can see many there including Japanese and Chinese ....

Hmm, seems these are for the documentation on the CD only..

thanks !

Hi!

if I want to start again, how do I reset the device back to factory settings..?

I have formatted the phones memory, switched off and taken the battery out, but when I switch on again, address and appointments are still there.

Hi guys

My contract is up for renewal this month and I am thinking of going back to Blackberry, however, which one. I really like the Storm as I am not bothered about Wifi and I like the look of it, but I also like the look of the Bold. Please help me as I cannot decide....!!

Posted by Superluminova
hello dudes, i finally got my enterprise bold today and now i want some cool stuff and essential for it, WERE DO I START?

Posted by Marc_SE
I had a play with the Storm at lunch - I think it's a little to big to use as an everyday handset

Posted by masseur
lol, they have one of those up in the local Vodafone window here at Moorgate

I gotta say the storm is the first BB that has in any way appealed to me, but I think with the iphone and X1 and HD its probably missed the boat now

Posted by Nanu
I disagree as I was also offered a free trolley making it somewhat more practical!!

Hi all,

I have just received a long awaited E-Mail from Vaja that they now have two different styled cases available for the Bold.

Now Vaja cases are not cheap but then they really are the best hand made cases available IMHO, they use a really high quality leather and their construction is without equal IMO.

Unfortunately they are not cheap by any stretch of the imagination in fact they are downright expensive and start @$70 with additional costs if you want a clip or some text or graphics on your case or not.

I also need to warn prospective buyers that you may well get stung by HM Customs and Excise for import duty as i did on my iPod case.

But seeing as my Bold is definitely a keeper for me i am considering spoiling it and myself with one for my Bold other bad point is it takes 20 days to be made.

You can view the cases via this link and play with the custom options

http://www.vajacases.com/home[....]-bold&ini=cri142h&c=7&it=2&s=2

Hi all,

Just before i hit the pay button i suddenly realised i wouldn't be able to use my charging pod any longer as you can't put your Bold in one whilst in a case. Also the Vaja cases are such a tight fit that taking your device out of it constantly is a real pain and to much like hard work. Well it was with the iPod case i had so for now i am going to stick with my PDAir case and save myself $70 + shipping and possibly being hit by duty which last time was £16 odd.

Mark Abell, a survivor of the Mumbai attacks, has explained how he hid from the terrorists in his room, in the Trident-Oberoi hotel.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/south_asia/7758262.stm

I found this clip on bbc.co.uk/news about a guy who survived Mumbai attacks using his blackberry...
(watch it after 3min.40 sec.)

Pass it on.

Dogmann,

nice cases...expensive but they look well worth it.

the last time i had a phone case must have been that holster they did for the T68, it was unnecessary for me but i got one anyway.

this Bold i have probably wouldnt have a case if it didnt come with one, RIM did well to provide a good quality slipcase with these phones.
cant see anything i'd exchange it for, i used to like those clear plastic hard cases for handsets, just in case they drop and get damaged, but the last few handsets i've had havent had any real bad falls, touch wood

overall i just hate covering phones up, those cases that cover the facia really annoy me although i can see how some of them are necessary for touch screen handsets protection but no matter how much i try protecting a phone they still look like they need replacing after say 12 months or so and often that occurs, although i was quite surprised that N95 lasted me 18 months without an upgrade, that must be a record since sim cards were introduced.

have you installed the latest OS. i have v4.6.0.190

Andy

I have got the latest one...

Posted by decoy7
my battery life has got better on the Bold after about 4-5 days and turning off 3G, performance has appeared fine and downloads dont seem to be suffering from lack of 3G connection so far.

i'm not running the latest OS but will look at upgrading if i start having some major problems...at the moment my main reason for not upgrading is my PC wouldnt connect to the BB, not sure if it's Vista related or what but i havent got around to resolving that one so i'm soldiering on without connecting up that way.
been spending more time using my MacBook lately anyhow so if they did an alternative application for MAC OS that would suit me fine.

Gmail:
i recently took my work email over to Google to run on there servers much like having a Gmail account but using my own domain name and just installed this sync tool for BlackBerry that lets you sync up all your calendar and contact lists over the air with your Gmail account(or in my case my own domain email)...great for backup and it's all free.

if you already have a gmail(googlemail) account point your BlackBerry browser to: m.google.com/sync

took a short while to sync initially(sent 509 contacts from my phone to an empty contacts list online) and i had to log out and back in on the web login to see all my contacts appear.

read about it online: http://www.google.com/mobile/blackberry/sync.html

verdict: great tool!

Hi all,

Well the latest Beta firmware out in the wild is now V4.6.0.201 and it changes the available Fonts from the previous 12 to 10 but there still a good range of choices and all the sizes are still there.

It gives me 54mb Ram on fresh reboot and has once again speeded up the Browser and Thumbnail refresh. I have been running it for a little over 24hrs now and so far it's all good and everything is working as it should.

Hi ofiach,

Congrats on yet another new device hope this one works out for you nice set up and I'm getting close to doing the same. Well for me nearly all i need is already on the Bold all i have added is Google Maps and Adorno! Alarm oh and the Voda SatNav program and that it. But there really is tons of stuff to choose from just search Handago for BB Bold software and you'll be amazed at just how much their is to choose from.

Oh and join CrackBerry Forum for all the guides and how to do things guides. Also i would suggest updating to one of the newest Beta firmwares as they are much better then the stock Voda one. It will also give you the opportunity to activate your much needed Japanese support to.

Pretty simple to get Japanese working on the bold fire up the desktop manager and just add the language simple as abc.

Make sure you download the east asia package

https://www.blackberry.com/Do[....]ionid=eXrHbTvLBG-L1tHOHFDzaw**

File name: 9000jEastAsia_PBr4.6.0_rel331_PL4.0.0.172_A4.6.0.190_CSL.exe

Install it, then go to Go to C:Program FilesCommon FilesResearch In MotionAppLoader and delete Vendor.xml

Plug the bold and update it and you will get options to edit what u want to add etc and Japanese should be in that list.

Where do I look for the Japanese?

BlackBerry Desktop Manager -> Application Loader -> Add/Remove Applications ?

I did run the Asian Package and chose Japanese !

edit - installed Simplified Chinese afterwards and forgot that that too will have a vendor.xml

updating my Bold now in progress !

----

I will edit here later to say how I got on!

I have a question to Blackberry owners/users.
Is it possible for a Blackberry to access the internet through your computer internet connection.
It's not possible to easily connect Symbian 60 phone to the net through a computer.
It's easy for a WM6 phone to access net (using one currently).
OFF TOPIC, same question for Apple iPhone, connect to internet through home PC?
This is so that you don't use any data plans on the mobile.
