You can get a Storm cheaper than that with a lot more value for money as well. ok its over 18 months:
700 minutes + 250 text + Unlimited Landline + Blackberry Email + Mobile Web
Which to me is a much better offer.
Posted by Nanu
I got my Bold cheaper than that too!
free Bold, 12 month contract 600 mins 500 texts and Blackberry for £40.50
I think the prices for new phones on contract are going ridiculous and feel that may be the last bargain I ever get on a 12 month contract!
Posted by ofiaich
Hi everyone!
I am on Anytime 150 minutes ! I think this gives me 100 texts too.
So how can I go about getting the Storm without a huge jump in my tariff costs and at the same time, stay on a 12 month contract?

You'll have to hand your soul over to Voda!

Hi Nanu,
never had a soul..... that's the Samsung U900 isn't it
Ah! I got it! So how can I hand my spiritual soul over for 12 months only?

Posted by Nanu
Depends what you get out of retentions, but currently any 12 month plan will set a new customer back £300 or £500 dependant upon tariff!
Posted by ofiaich
Hi nanu!
thanks for that. I am down to either HTC Touch HD or BB Storm as my choices for now.
I will see what Friday brings !

Hi all,
Well whilst my Bold continues to get even better with each new firmware i am now running V4.6.0.168 there was one thing that was bothering me about my Bold. The Silver bezel gets marked really easily showing black underneath the silver and spoiling the look. I am not the only person facing this problem and thankfully CNN.cn have an all Black Bezel kit that also has a blank bottom piece so removes all traces of Network branding. In fact now you can even get black replacement buttons but personally i am sticking with the silver buttons as i like the black and silver combination better.
So here are some pictures of my Stealth Black Bold and all you need for this job is 20-30mins a T5 screwdriver and an opening tool and some patience. Hope you like how it looks as i am loving it.
Marc

Looks great Marc! The last picture looks amazing!
I wish I had a Bold to play with. Unfortunately, the dorks at my company have stuck with the last gen 8310/8320 Curves.

The Bold certainly looks very nice with the black bezel!

I get my bold next week, woo hoo!
Free bold, free calls, free emails, free sat nav! You gotta love it
Posted by Nanu
and Dogmann and Doug and Dicky and Maud and Le Boy when he gets back!
Posted by jcwhite_uk
Anyone wanting free sat-nav for their Bold, you can download the Vodafone satnav software that is only meant to be a 14 day trial but mine has been working for over a month and has never asked for any codes or anything. The strange thing is I am using it on O2 with an unbranded Bold.

Hi JC White and Suerluminova,
Nice one and many thanks for that looks better than Google maps that i have been using and if it remains free that's even better. What a great find this helps my Bold to just keep on getting better and better I'm just so hooked on my BB now it's ridiculous nothing else comes close IMHO.

Just wondering if anyone has heard of whats going to be announced at WES 2009 from RIM?
So far I've heard of:
9900
8900
9220
Just wondering if anyone has any inside information about them that they would like to share? Razz Laughing
The rumors I have been hearing:
9900 is code named PLUTO and it physically looks like the BOLD 9000 the only extra is that it will be touch screen, expected release is late next year.
8900 is the new device under the CURVE family also code named JAVELIN, I don't have any information on what it looks like but expected release is early next year.
9220 is code named MAGNUM, just like the 8900 CURVE but 3G and is expected to release mid next year.
So yeah if anyone wants to share some inside news or heard different rumors, please share?
oooooh.....

The Javelin is a nice form factor and it's a very similar design to the Bold. I find my Bold quite bulky, espcially when I have to carry my personal mobile as well. Don't get me wrong I prefer the Bold to my Curve and the Javelin will be a nice upgrade from the Curve.
If you catch my drift.

You're joking right? the BB OS' browsers are the slowest in rendering html sites in the industry. That said improvements in the Bold's browser will come in the Javelin.
btw, the Magnum is the Javelin with 3G. My preference is the Javelin which a clearer picture was posted on T-Mobile Germany just last month with a sale price accidentally. Also that black pearl is wicked looking.
3G will allow voice & data simultaneously so don't forget that. Its so useful that we always forget. Crackaddicts hate waiting for that email when a call is ongoing and you just cannot get off - especially conference calls.

No I'm not joking, I am speaking from my personal experience not the industry, I was happy with the browser on the Curve and even more so with that of the Bold.

Reg did point out that the Magnum is the Javelin in his post, Clearer picture??? care to share?

Hi all,
Just a quick report to say I'm now running .190 thanks to a kind someone who keeps sending me the links and so far it's running very well. Browser is faster and thumbnails refresh really fast each new firmware keeps on improving the Bold it's really quite amazing and no 2-4 month wait for a new one either.

Hi!
I got my Storm yesterday and it looks good !!!
I am having some issues though. Better start reading through the manual.
1. I want to download Japanese language to the phone but can't figure that out.
2. want to synch with Outlook contacts and appointments
3. and setup my university exchange server but can't figure that out too. Do I have to wait for an i.d. or something frm BlackBerry?
and finally
4. put some music on the card. The Storm says there is a card error but it is freshly formatted using the PC.
Yes, total beginner with BlackBerry but am happy to learn !
any advice appreciated !

You may need to download the firmware for the Storm from the RIM site which will contain the language packs and then you will be able to load them onto the phone! I will look into this for you!
2. want to synch with Outlook contacts and appointments
First you need to install desktop manager, and then attach the device to your computer set up sync and then sync, let me know where you are getting stuck
3. and setup my university exchange server but can't figure that out too. Do I have to wait for an i.d. or something frm BlackBerry?
For the exchange server you may need to set up BES express which Dicky informs me is free for one license, again I'm not sure about this but will look into it for you!
and finally
4. put some music on the card. The Storm says there is a card error but it is freshly formatted using the PC.
Format the card using your BlackBerry, this may be where the problem lies to do so, go to options>media card>BlackBerry key> format card
to load music and videos you have Roxio media manager or media sync, but to be honest it is far easier to drag and drop music into the BlackBerry>Music folder on the card, and just use Media manager for converting videos.
AFAIK if you don't put your music in the BlackBerry>Music folder the BlackBerry will not recognise it! Formatting the card using the Storm should set all of the folders up for you!
Yes, total beginner with BlackBerry but am happy to learn !
any advice appreciated !
