I was wondering about a few aspects of BB's as I am considering investing in one.
What email accounts do people use with their BB?
How is the 8110 pearl as a phone? How much memory does it have, space for memory card etc? Can you get music on it and use it as a music player as well?
Would most people advise a BB along with another mobile or just have a BB as your only phone?
Are there any major downsides to them?
Thanks

Hi JC White,
That's the package version not the actual firmware the actual firmware is older as it is V4.6.0126. as it says here.
Software For BlackBerry® Bold (TM) 9000 smartphone
BlackBerry Handheld Software v4.6.0.243 (Multilanguage)
Package Version: 4.6.0.243
Consisting of:
Applications: 4.6.0.126
Software Platform: 4.0.0.135
File name: 9000M_PBr4.6.0_rel243_PL4.0.0.135_A4.6.0.126_Vodafone_UK.exe
File size: 91.17MB
That was the second firmware i used and while it was an improvement it's not a good as V4.6.0.134. Although i have only had my Bold a little over 2 weeks each firmware has improved the Bolds performance. I have also found upgrading the firmware to be very easy and a lot safer as it allows you to download the firmware first before updating. Plus the way it automatically backs up and restores all your apps and data.

That link I gave you Zoot was for .147 which is probably the one they make mention of on crackberry, although it is possible I cannot see RIM releasing another update as .148 as they usually jump up a good number ie .156 will be the next!

.155 will be the next.....

Hi zootzoot,
I saw it mentioned there also but so far no track of it and i wonder if it is not a package number yet again rather than a firmware itself.
To be honest this last firmware has really made a big difference in Browser speed for me and that was the only little niggle i had left. So far .147 has been as close to perfect as i can imagine for me, the speed of the whole OS is just so good and consistent. Even I'm amazed at just how much i am liking the Bold. Which reminds me i must sell my iPod as the Bold has completely taken over my listening to Music needs as it does it so well IMHO.

Been running the Bold for 24 hours now, love it and o2 customer service I have to give 11/10. I had been on an iPhone tariff and switched back to a BB Tariff but the person that did the switch forgot to set it up on the billing system.
So plus points firstly, FREE to call customer service from Abroad, trust me the time we spent on the call I would probably have bought a another Bold
Secondly as he needed me to be off the Bold whilst he checked some settings, he offered to call me back in any country in the world, and he did.
Finally he said he would chase up with me the next morning to make sure things were working, and true to his word he rang me up again.
I am very impressed, not had one single problem with o2 since joining them this year, absolutely great network.
Feel free to add my to the list as I have lost all your guys pin's

@Superluminova,
The Storm will be a lifetime exclusive for Europe on VodaFone and Verizon in the US. The only way that will change would be if they don't sell enough to hit targets which i seriously doubt will happen.
But i would be happy to bet on a big jump in Rim's market share and especially in Europe for Q4 2008 that will continue through 2009. The Bold and the Storm will attract a much wider user to Blackberry partially due to 3G/HSDPA and also due to the greatly improved Multimedia on them.

I have had my Bold for nearly a week and am really loving it. In most ways I prefere it to my N95. After using the Bold, the screen on the N95 screen seems small, dim and low resolution. The Bold can not contend with th N95 when it comes to camera and software support but the rest of the Bold more than makes up for it. Gotta update the software as it is currently running 4.6.0.92 and can be bit slow at times but no more than my N95.

Hi Peeps,
Need some help.
Just bought my self a Blackberry 8120.
I need to set it up so I can recieve email's from my Googlemail account and also my Hotmail account.
Can anyone do me a step my step guide on how to do this?
Thanks.

@JC White
Glad that like me you are enjoying the Bold although i have to say just wait till you put a newer firmware on it as your in for a very pleasant surprise. The .092 software is rubbish compared to .147 and onwards as the Web browser is now much faster then it was. Also with .150 i now am seeing over 50mb free Ram I've also not really found the Bold is missing the ability to add software and in fact have only needed to add a couple of apps a Multiple Alarm and Weather app plus Google maps are all I've added so far as otherwise the Bold has all i need already on it.
This is the first device I've used that downloads the firmware to your laptop first to then upgrade it and also the first that automatically backs up and restores all your data and apps without any additional input required.
I am well and truly a BB fan for now and much prefer using the Bold to any currently available device by quite some way. The Music player really does deliver excellent sound quality and the Videos look great on it's screen.
Hi Mij,
First of all have you activated the Blackberry Internet Service with your Network? i haven't used any other BB besides the Bold but is there not a E-Mail setup Wizard on it? Which should just need your E-Mail address and password as that's all i needed to enter on the Bold.

Just a quick question i have an upgrade on o2 and was wondering what is the 3g signal like as i have the 3g iphone and the 3g data signal is weak in most places (home +work). Will this improve with the bold? Should i just wait for it to come on tmobile?

4.6.0.156
4.6.0.154
you should remove the RIM TOOLS FOLDER from 4.6.0.156 or else you will install RIM’s QUINCY application…
and for those of you who do not know what Quincy is. . . . . . . . . . . .
It was a hit American TV show were a Medical Examiner 9Jack Klugman pictured above) would solve murders. .. . . . .

@ Dogmann
Haven't activated anything with my network yet (Orange). Shall I do this 1st?
Yes there is an email setup wizard, but when I go on that there are two options:
First Option 'I want to use a work account email account with a Blackberry Enterprise Server'
Second Option 'I want to skip email setup'
So i'm a little stuck here, as there is no option just for a personnal account...

Also Kickstart and Bold in my Local O2 store.

And
4.6.0.162
Again for the Bold!
Posted by Dogmann
Hi Nanu,
These firmwares are coming faster than i can install them only just downloaded .154 and hadn't even installed it when 156 became available. Just installed .156 and now .162 is here really is amazing the speed they are coming out and how most of them actually continue to improve the Bold. I may just wait a few days before moving to .162.

Have a bold!

I'm always calm....
but 6 weeks is way way way too long I'd say!
Posted by Nanu
I wouldn't have been so calm either, But Orange have sent 2 Bolds out to me and in pretty quick time too!
Posted by Dogmann
@JC White,
You are in for really big surprise when you upgrade as the improvements from your firmware to the latest ones is huge. Biggest difference is the speed of the Web browser and much more free memory but it is totally stable and fast now.

Posted by Burgaz
Ermmm... http://www.cnn.cn is about the only place i can think of other than ebay. I think one or two people in this thread have bought BB housings from them and had no problems with the quality of them? (it's anyone's guess if they're genuine RIM parts or not?)

Has anyone tried downloading the latest Windows Live App yet? It's on the Blackberry homepage when accessing straight from your device. I have and it actually works now, without a single error message-yipee! :o)
