Thats the 8100 (original pearl) stay away from that one.
no A2DP (until firmware is updated to 4.2).
No WiFi.

Wait for the 8120 model

Posted by haynesycop
Yeah i want too but i have to upgrade 1st November and i don't think it'll be out by then, news on it is sketchy from what i can find.

Posted by tmagberry
The 8800 is the full qwerty of the Pearl and without Camera.

I would recommend the Curve or the 8800 over the Pearl...

I wouldn't quite say that.

8800/8820/8830 also have GPS which the Pearl (original 8100 series, doesn't have; the 8130 does).
Also the 8800 series you remove the battery cover (only) and you can hotswap the MicroSD card. the 8300 series & original Pearl (8100) you cannot

I swear you'll find yourself in the 1st month caressing your BB "trackball based" unit daily without even thinking about it.

I love supporting BB HH.

New error this year ... Error "Unable to store message".
not sure if this user I was TS has a mailbox server issue (MS Exchange) or
provider issue (change in data plan).

Anybody know how to install music and ringtones to a pearl using a mac? I drag and drop but they don't show up. Pocketmac will only sync, contacts, calendars etc etc.

Posted by fatreg
you got a mem card in Miss C?

if so, you should get a mem card appear on your desktop, then in there, there should be a folder called "blackberr" and in there "music" dump it in there. not in files though..

eject bb and you should be away in music player..

if not gimme a pin or so and I'll scoot on ichat

Posted by haynesycop
I did all of that, where is media player as i can't see an icon for it? Did look for the files in the media icon but there is nothing in music or ringtones.

both brill.. both exactly the same apart from one having GPS and the other having WIFI.. I'd chose WIFi every day of the week over GPS, the new pearl 8120 is supposed to be dead good but it's not out here yet.

as for price, simple answer is no, there are not many places that sell berrys sim free, you however live in Dubai so get yourself down to Jumbo or Plug Ins and have a gander!

hey Fatreg and other proud users of BB ... I was just looking at the specifications of 8310 and 8320 and i found out in the SPECIFICATIONS that both of them don't have office apps , so i can open Excel ,Word , PDF etc. files

So if i buy those phones then how will i open the Documents ? will i be able to download seperate softwares from somewhere ???

Posted by tmagberry
Yes - BeamBerry is a free app that will allow this function.

You wont be able to edit but you will be able to view.

Been considering a Blackberry for a while now and as 3 or 4 of my mates have now got one it's become more appealing now with the BB messenger etc.

I've been offered a one week old offline 8310 today for £200. Just wondering if that's a good price or not?

Go for it and that is a good price for an 8310 - I am assuming its on Vodafone if you are UK based...Make sure your Service Provider can provision your account with a BB Data Plan. Otherwise BBM , email and internet etc will not function.

Think so, although i'm torn, don't really like the blackberry interface as i'm so used to the iPhone but it has BB Messenger so will save a fortune in txts, hmmm what to do, can't really justify having a iPhone and not using it lol.

O2 Released the 8120 Pearl (with Wifi) today..

HERE

Now we just need the 8320....

Posted by GriZZla1024
Looking on the O2 site, it says you are only allowed 200mb a month data in their 'unlimited' plan. i though they had scrapped the 200mb limit for something more sensible. Or is that only for the bloody iphone?

Posted by tmagberry
That is their unlimited plan. I would congratulate anyone who uses 200mb on their BB.

As a heavy user i have got close to 50mb but thats pushing it.

Posted by fatreg
yeah as a heavy user here too i only use about 40-45mb of data....

Posted by Nanu
I'm a heavy user and I go through 2oz a week!

Am I in the right thread here?

Posted by Burgaz
Lol's at nanu.
So anyway i'm stuck in work with me poopy old z610 wondering what orange have to offer bb wise lately? Come on someone gimme some specs? As my only other options are a viewty or possibly a tytn2.

So bored i double posted

the latest BB on O-range is the 8820... 8800 with wifi...

I got my curve thru CPW on Orange though

Posted by Burgaz
Hmmm... The cam's are a bit poop on bb's these day ain't they. I think that's gonna be the one thing holding me back. And other than that i'll have to quit orange and start all over again to get a decent bb by the seem of things. Unless i get a phone on upgrade sell it and buy a sim free bb?

Posted by tmagberry
2mb is good enough If you want to do photography mate get a proper camera

Otherwise, come on back....

Did you get the 8320? As great as that model is ... it seriously needs more than 64MB of RAM. Still though it great, unless you must have WiFi & GPS within your BB then go for 8820 or use a BT GPS pucky.

Tmag,

50MB only? I crossed that easily. However, its better to surf internet for personal use using the Opera Mini browser. This will significantly lower data. Email Attachments, although compressed will eat up data significantly.

Posted by fatreg
I've got an 8300... really want wifi but I can live til' the 9130 gets launched

Posted by jcwhite_uk
Just getting Blackberry at work. Got a BES setup and am playing with 8800's.
