Bold on Vodafone site lists expected availability in July.
Same with Canada's Rogers and AT&T Wireless in the USA. Man this is going to be a HUGE release!

Turns out the Bold isn't gonna be a complete Skodafone exclusive in the UK (possibly for the first 30 days anyway)-all i'm gonna say is think pink! ;-)

If you can get DecalGirl to have a seriously cool Carbon pattern link deep fuscia like that Ericsson phone in your avatar - I think you'll be super happy. 1> because it'll protect the Bold's housing, and 2> because if the decal gets scuffed, it'll be removable without a blemish and it shouldn't be expensive to put on a new one .

Posted by fatreg
wtf is decalgirl?

maybe I need to google...

Posted by tmagberry
I like a screen protector but goes over the whole BB. You can also have your own designs....

Posted by fatreg
yeah just seen.. looks cool but how do you get the assossciated wallpapers?

they do a polka dot pink one for 8130............

Posted by Burgaz
for those that can't be arsed with google... DecalGirl

Posted by Daedalus85
C: dunno if it helps but O2 are definetely getting it

@lovewalrus,

As far as i am aware the Bold was never going to be a Voda exclusive but what will be is the Thunder. As that will be Verizon in the US and Vodafone in Europe with a lifetime exclusive unless they don't sell enough, which i seriously doubt will happen.

@all

As much as i love the Bold's spec's i just don't feel i can go back to what for me is such a small screen. So i am going to wait for Thunder as although i haven't used a Touchscreen for quite some time now when i did i always used the onscreen keyboard with a stylus. I am hoping this will be the input method on the Thunder and not your finger.

Also i notice that most discussions about OS and market share everyone mentions of course Symbian and then as the competition Apple and Android and then WM. Now i just don't get it Rim have a very good market share already and with the Bold and Thunder coming with at last 3G/HSDPA, WiFi, GPS, and great screens and Multimedia all of course as additions to there great functionality. IMO Rim are incredibly well positioned to really gain huge market share outside of the US and Canada and also outside of just mainly Business users to. I'm willing to bet by end of 2009 it will be Symbian still in top position followed by Rim and then the others, as i really can't see Apple, Android or even WM7 offering anything better than Rim. Admittedly Android is the dark horse as we don't really know enough about it but i would be amazed as a new OS it could have that much impact.

Marc

a pink 8120 coming soon? shame on your Orange, I've had mine months and will be upgrading from a pink 8120 at the end of July......

Posted by Daedalus85
Yeah but your's is 'cobbled together'

BTW guys, I 'seem' to have HTML e-mail without doing a software update. I removed and re-added one of my 5 email addresses, and it seems to have kicked in on the others too.

However, the image placeholders are there, but even if I ask it to download all images (or even just one image), it thinks about it, some network connectivity occurs, and then nothing :/

Posted by fatreg
yeah I don't get images either.. get the effing downloading images could reveal your identity message but no pics

Posted by lovewalrus
I get the images, but only after tellin it to collect them-shame it's not automatic! :-(

The reason for that is to stop spam, as you know HTML can embed hidden code which will show that your email address active. So its a good thing I think plus on Edge it allows for the instant retrieval of your email less the code.

Hi all,

In this months T3(August issue) there is a nice full page picture and 10 reasons to buy the Bold but still with just due this summer and no pricing.

Can anyone here comment of if you can view full page HTML on the Bold or any current BB?

Just came back from my local CPW and they said O2 will definatley get the Bold but he wasnt sure about others.

Can someone explain the difference between internet and email use for these tarrifs? Im going to have to pick one of them for if I get a Bold but am notsure why the bottom one is more expensive.

The top one says "Make phone calls, send and receive emails and access the Internet. First select the ideal data option below, then choose your Service Plan in the next step"

So does that still mean push email?

The second one says "Use your BlackBerry® to send and receive emails and access the Internet".

Whats the difference and why does the latter end up being more expensive?

I dont plan to use it for work email just for my personal email (hotmail) but id like to be notified of as and when they come in. Is push email only the bottom one where as with the above one you have to check it manually?

One is data only and the other is data and calls

Ah yeah it seems your right.

Cheers.

Ive been offered an 8120 for cheap which im thinking of getting as a stop gap whilst I kill time on my contract - ill get the Bold then. Is it worth taking? How much should I pay for a second hand one?

Also is it possible to save SMS messages to the SIM card and then copy them from the SIM card if I use another model?

Thanks

Dude you still on the fence deciding, I don't think any amount of questions anyone answers will quench your appetite. Best bet, get it, test it, love it keep it, hate it sell it.

Because if you wait on the bold you might as well wait on the Javelin and so on so forth.

In other words no device is perfect, the bold is only a few weeks away and will pack as you know everything, its up to your budget now to decide how you want to play it.

Posted by Nanu
Enjoy

Edit: or perhaps not it says the package is .52 yet the download file says .37 so it is more likely to still be .37!

Browser ... first check its not hidden. Home Screen> Menu> Show ALL.
Next goto Options> Advanced > Applications: Check if BlackBerry Browser or Browser is listed. (Wondering if Icon is branded and thus changed). If not there...

1> Options> Advanced Options> HRT ... click Menu and Register NOW (this'll have the service pull for new service books. if it fails ... continue
2> on BIS site push service books
3> backup ur essentials if not done already before the FW install. Wipe HH. When it comes back an HRT should be automatically done. If this doesn't remedy then either have Service Provider push from their admin login (Service Books) or your IT BES Admin push them as last resort.

2 pics more "rumoreado" Blackberry thunder 9500

will run on a new Blackberry OS that's fully touch-centric and will sport a 2.5" 65K color touchscreen TFT display with 360 x 480 pixels resolution. Most importantly it will be a hybrid device, working in GSM and EV-DO networks supporting EDGE/HSDPA and built-in GPS.

Hi all,

Is it just me or does anyone else think stating the full touchscreen device will have just a 2.5" screen the same size as the Bold's is just plain wrong? if not even impossible.

Marc

i think it should be 3.5

Posted by giancito
Truth is 2.5 "is very small

Posted by Dogmann
@giancito,

It is not correct and is obviously a mistake as if you look at the pictures of the Bold and Thunder they are virtually the same size. The Bold has a 2.5" screen and the whole front of the Thunder is a Touchscreen so it's just not possible to be a just 2.5".
