Despite the HTML email being in-built, has anyone got Empower Pro installed with the v4.5 OS? I had an issue where I had to switch it off for HTML content to be displayed.

There's a new theme (L), New Fonts, you can now create playlist one the BB rather than having to save them from pc. You can add pics to contacts. The Browser is desktop view as standard, documents to go software.... There's load of new things
I am aware of those things, but maybe its just me contemplating between stability and memory leak? I have been testing it out extensivly and will continue to till later this eve then decide.
In reference to empower it wont work on 4.5 so you can either wait for the update or wait for your provide to turn on html on there server.

i suffered my first memory leak on 4.3 since November... need to see if there's a newer OS out there for 8120

Some ppl will prefer Empower's HTML email options more than the core 4.3/.5 implementation.

Anyone notice that you can add someone to BB Messenger by email now? not only pin.
Posted by fatreg
ermm you've been able to do that since the 7290 Jose
Posted by themarques
I see someone told me it was only pin

Really stoopid noobish question... But what the hell is a memory leak? And how do i protect against it cos it sounds nasty!

Despite what is said the Wireless Upgrade will be for BES users with the option of BIS users being able to part upgrade. Not all BIS plans are unlimited Data and downloading an 80mb OS upgrade would kill that.
Also there are lot of other functions that are tweaked. I find one everyday but its just about remembering this is a Beta and not a final release.
Its also fair to add that the OS on the 9000 is likely to be similar (so the rumours suggest) and therefore a new release isnt too far away

About upgrading the BlackBerry Device Software
You can upgrade the BlackBerry® Device Software over the wireless network using BIS or BES, or if you have installed the BlackBerry® Desktop Software
on your computer, you can upgrade the BlackBerry Device Software using the application loader tool of the BlackBerry® Desktop
Manager. For more information about upgrading using the BlackBerry Desktop Manager, see the BlackBerry Desktop Software Online
Help.
When a BlackBerry Device Software upgrade is available for you to download over the wireless network, a Wireless Upgrade icon appears
on the Home screen. The available upgrade might be a complete software upgrade or a software update only. If the available upgrade is
a complete software upgrade, your BlackBerry device data is backed up and restored over the wireless network during the installation
process.
The duration of the upgrade process can range from 15 minutes to 2 hours, depending on the type of upgrade, the amount of device data,
and the number of applications on your device. You can use your device when you download the software, but you cannot use your device
or make emergency calls when you install the software.
For more information, contact your wireless service provider or administrator.
Prerequisites: Upgrading the BlackBerry Device Software over the wireless network
• Verify that your BlackBerry® device is connected to the wireless network.
• Verify that the battery power level is 50 percent or higher.
• If you have installed the BlackBerry® Desktop Software on your computer, verify that your device is not connected to your computer.
Upgrade the BlackBerry Device Software
You can use your BlackBerry® device when you download BlackBerry® Device Software but not when you install the software.
If content protection is turned on, you might need to type your password at various times during the installation process.
1. On the Home screen, click the Wireless Upgrade icon.
2. Complete the instructions on the screen.
Note: During the installation process, your device might reset multiple times.

Copy and Paste is wonderful.
However, all current version of 4.5 installed only seem to have the Wireless Upgrade on BES Handsets....

Hi all
Now that 9000 is one nice looking device and with 3G/HSDPA and WiFi certainly ticks all the boxes. I will defiantly be checking one of these out on release. Now for real noob question can i access all the Blackberry Services via WiFi as long as i have a BB plan? As Voda have stupid plans but I'm mainly by WiFi.

YES!
Web - your choice of web (yes there is an FTP app I believe).
Email - Corporate/Personal or BOTH.
Facebook or other Social apps.
All so long as you have a blackberry plan. Some ppl mentioned issues with Opera Mini but I think that is was just related to a missing service book/2. Nothing that cannot quickly be fixed.

Email - Well yes in a roundabout way. You will need to access the Email Set Up Wizard on the new BB and log into your BIS account. It will recognise a new PIN and ask if you want to move to the new PIN. So accept that and it should work.
As for the email acc on two devices - that is not possible. Well it wasnt last time i tried.

Anyone see the nice sweet black smoke casing of the 8330 that Sprint USA is getting? I love that casing. A club manager I met yesterday owns a BB 8310 - I see them EVERYWHERE in Toronto now ... its the new clic! Those that are in the know, power, money, all carry a blackberry (kinda bugs me of that, shit even Madonna sleeps with her blackberry)!
I'm on the fence debating to sell my contract / give it up and get an 8120 or 8320 (GPS I won't need since BBMaps or TeleNav will do the job & realtime routing with TeleNav).
If you want a comprehensible calendar go with BlackBerry! I shouldn't have left. I shouldn't have done it. Heck, I'm preaching to teh quire here.
So what apps are you lot using?!
Posted by Burgaz
8330?
Whats that? GPS and Wifi?
Posted by thomas93
Sorry but another question.
I if I put an Australian sim in a British unlocked blackberry will all my emails go to this?
If you have MSN and are a Crackberry know it all please PM me .

hi everyone.... ne1 one on here use jivetalk for msn access? if u do how much data does it use etc as i have it but dont wanna have it on if it using loads of data up as i only have 120mb a mth to play with!
J.
Posted by themarques
jivetalk uses very little data it has a power saving function as well, so I wouldnt be to worried unless someone is transferring stuff to you over msn but other wise its miniscule.
I suggest you check out crackberry.com lots of resource on there and a discussion on exactly how much data jivetalk uses.
Oh and if you plan on buying it here is a coupon code for £5 off RIMEDU

It is a Java app, it is an actual app that you install it is not web based it is installed on the phone, it does not redirect you to a website it runs quite happily in the background all day and alerts you to any new messages.

So is it worth getting one of the existing ones or waiting for the 9000? Also what size screen is the 9000?
I really hope they dont ship it with just 2mp camera.
Also can a BB be bought sim free and just used with your normal contract sim card? And if i have a data bundle will that be valid also or do i need a BB specific tarrif? Im not interested in push email.

The 9000 is slated for July August so that is really up to you if you want to wait. In reference to the screen I there has been no official word on the phone so nobody really knows at this time. Reference to the camera nobody knows.
A BB can be bought sim free and just used with a normal contract, you normal data bundle will not work for things like BB email etc but I believe you should be able to browse. But you will find that this is kind of defeating the purpose as things like BB Messenger etc will not work and it kind of cripples the BB in its own sense.

Does bb have a homescreen that supports plugins? Not seen anything but it must have something to be a business phone.

All Java based BB's support augmentation of the homescreen. I've seen a screenshot of one; no layers and not sure which app was used to create it.
Wish I could find it.
But if you mean plugins like Widgets? Nope.
