Same Curve model but also with WIFI.

Notice in the pic just underneath the battery release bay, the MyFav's insignia 5 dots?

Looks like we are set to get the same in Europe, as Vodafone Germany have announced the 8310 which sounds like the same unit, a Curve with built in GPS!

here

Any news on a new pearl, i've heard rumours but nothing concrete yet? Heard it is supposed to have wifi? Sooo want a blackberry.

Posted by Nanu
I haven't heard anything yet regarding the Pearl, Tmag holds all such information and guards it fiercely!

Posted by haynesycop
Hmmm looking then, i love the pearl but the added extra of wifi on the new one is keeping me from getting one. You have a curve don't you? Are they much bigger, just wondered how they compare in size to standard phones?

Posted by Nanu
I have the 8700, it's not overly massive but wider than the pearl!

As I mentioned this will NOT have GPS like Germany's GPS enabled Curve 8310; yet the 8320 will have WiFi (802.11n = a/b/g)!

oooops silly me!!

I misread that one!!

Now I'm all excited when does the 8330 come out then!

You mean the GPS enabled (8300 based) Curve for CDMA networks? Early 2008.

Oh you mean the OLD rumored Papa Bear 8330 ( the one that was rumored by TheBoyGeniusReports to have GPS, WiFi, EDGE)? That is NEVER going to debut or happen. Old news. Sorry.

8320 will have WiFi no GPS
BB Pearl2 will have EDGE & WiFi ... GPS is POSSIBLE depending on carry but NOT with WiFi.

Hello Everyone.

Figured I'd update the competition here.

BB 8320 on TMobile-USA NOW has WiFi & also UMA support. Already available & shipping.
http://na.blackberry.com/eng/[....]21,P623#tab_tab_specifications

The BB Pearl has NOW also been upgraded with WiFi support.
The BlackBerry Pearl 8120 comes with a 2 megapixel camera with 5x digital zoom and enhanced flash. The new camera also supports video capture in two resolutions: 240x180 or 176x144 for sharing via MMS.The BlackBerry Pearl 8120 supports the Bluetooth® stereo audio profile (A2DP/AVRCP), and comes with a 3.5 mm stereo headset jack so users can plug in their preferred headphones or speakers (wish I had this with MY BB Pearl).

simple answers

Posted by Nanu
ermmm it's not technically available on payg but you don't have to sign into a lengthy contract either, I'm currently using mine on the rolling month contract with T-Mob but I'm gonna switch to simplicity with O2 in the next few weeks.

ok thanks guys

Oh shoot! My mom just got a silver 8830 Curve to replace her aging 8700g and I thought she'd have the best BB available for some time. It's already outdated!

The Old white Pearl is available at CPW now and yes the Pearl 2 will have want you need, but there will be the availability of 5 Colors. White, Black, Red, Blue and Gold (quite tasteful).

Posted by haynesycop
Oooo nice one i do love my iPhone but quite fancy a pearl too, any idea when they'll be out? Thanks.

Posted by tmagberry
They are out already in White.
The Pearl 2 is out in Spain so wont be long here...

Unless its a typo ... the 8830 World Edition is NOT a Curve. its the BLACK or Silver SLATE unit with GSM (900/1800Mhz for Europe) & CDMA 1XEV for US.

Curve = 8300(GPRS/EDGE), 8310(GPS), 8320 (WiFi; NO GPS).

9000 is still a twinkle in RIMS eye at the moment.

Posted by alrodlop35
Oops! My mistake. It's actually an 8300.

Posted by alrodlop35
Ooh! I have a question. After fiddling around with my mom's BB for some time, I was actually able to find a way to recieve files via BT hidden in the media menu instead of the BT menu. But now when I send songs from my K790 to her BB, it only gives me the option of storing the file in the ringtones folder instead of the music folder, so the music player doesn't recognize the tracks and the only way to play them is to go into the ringtones section and play them from there. How do I solve this?

use a card reader...

Posted by alrodlop35
Well, thanks for that rather unfriendly solution but I've already figured it out without having to disassemble the phone and buy a memory card reader...

Posted by fatreg
you can also open the media player, find the song you want. options and use a phone tune...

Posted by Nanu
Woot Woot I got me a nice and shiny Curve!!

Posted by dougproctor
Where did you get that from, Andy?

Posted by Nanu
Hi Doug I did a trade with a very nice fellow Esatonian! you may know him!

Posted by dougproctor
I could say intimately but we won't go down that route......... lol
How's it going? Phone still working?
Doug

Posted by Nanu
Everything's fine! had a few teething problems but nothing I couldn't sort out! (not without BlackBerry support UK aka Fatreg and Tmag!)

Other than that I am just ironing out a few things with software and it'll all be tickety boo! really loving it though!

(dare I ask how the "other" one is doing!!)

Posted by dougproctor
That's still going as well....... The TomTom is good, runs a treat! Like it, a good trade.

Anybody heard anything on the new pearl? I'm very tempted by it but still not found anything concrete on release.

Depends on your countries respective carriers.
Spain as I posted 2 pages ago and just at the top arleady has it. (WiFi included).
Less than 2wks we'll see it more.

Well in the UK the pearl was available on o2 and t-mobile, i'm due an upgrade in the next couple of weeks and i'm hoping it will be available. The lack of wifi was holding me back but this new one has so i can take the plunge.

I bloody well left my Pearl at work today! ARRRRGHHHH!

Posted by tmagberry
I dont think the Pearl 2 will beout by next week, but get a BB anyway, you can always add the Pearl 2 to your collection when it comes out.

Dont be put off with the wifi issue? If you have unlimited data then you have nothing to worry about anyway.

Posted by haynesycop
Any idea when it will be out? The pearl isn't on the o2 website anymore.

Posted by Nanu
Have you held a Curve Lau??

They are extremely sexy! and IMO far better than the Pearl! I really don't think you would be disappointed with the Curve and you can't moan about the size it's smaller than your iPhone!!

Posted by tmagberry
I agree. The Curve is small enough and having a full qwerty is much quicker and better.

Surely you have the 14 day return option too if you dont like it...

Nothing to lose!

Posted by haynesycop
I haven't to be honest but they look rather large, i'd much prefer a pearl. Although i'll go into a phone shop tomorrow and have a look. My friend just started working for o2 and she said she'd enquire about the new pearl for me so i'll see what she says tomorrow. Thanks for the tips and everything, i'm sure i'll love it when i get one but only if it is free hehehehe.

Posted by fatreg
exactly.. you've got nothing to lose..

the curve is dead good, it's not big at all.. about the size of a 30gb video ipod from memory...

Posted by haynesycop
Really? I've seen the pearl and loved it, the curve seems massive in comparison on the pictures i've seen on the net. Will have a look tomorrow then.
