One would be to turn of images when not required. Makes a lot of difference in the speed...ans yes your bills if youre on a data capped plan...

I wont torture my eyes either by looking at a 176*208 screen ..straining to read stuff..

The q was to speedup wap browsing..n there's no other thing which affects wap (plain gprs wap) than turning those (this again is at ur discretion) unwanted images off.

you do hve the option of turning them on so no worries.. also some folks r charged by the kbs so turning on images definitely is not required unless too necessary.

Anyway its unlimited gprs for me here so me personally watch wap pages in their full glory.

No harsh mate i luv my eyes too much lol... How about changing proxy? I heard sum ppl do it bt i aint tried it yet since i dunno what proxy 2 use. Any idea

keep lots n lots of bookmarks of the pages you visits frequently.(even keep more than one pages of same site: like in Esato login page, posts in last six hours, etc.) if you hav the page save option you can always do that as well. And use history smartly. happy surfing

Best tip is to navigate on mobiles with Opera Mini.

It reduces a lot the weight of webpages, due to Opera servers that make compression before sending you the requested pages

Posted by aatuif
What else do you suggest. What type of content encoding should be selected. I heard that some encoding is the fastest. Would you please guide us. And what about content folding. !

Posted by ajeetpv
content folding has no relation with content coding. in operamini when you download a page containing large numbers of links, it combines (fold) them so that you can navigate the page more easily. thats it.

Ok. That's fine. But what about content encoding. Which one is the fastest. . . . .
Anyother tweaks to speedup Wap browsing.

I have nokia 6030. And many of nokia phones have this option.
@all. Is there no other tip for speeding Wap browsing. The so_called experts here could only suggest turning images off. What else. For both high_end and mid_range mobile phones.

my ip got banned 4 a while by google when i put its search engine on my page with iso 8559-1 encoding...google uses utf8

Posted by occupied
@aat try these ips:
66.36.250.14
66.36.250.50
66.36.238.34
instead of your default ip
maybe it'll help to speed up your browsing...
gprs class also has influence so get the higher class

And could anyone please shed more light on content encoding. Please explain in detail. What the different types, and what are the compatibility issues involved. Do some lines work faster than others.

Use of other proxies gives the following errors.
1."connection not available".
2."page not found".
And even if it connects it shows "Loading" endlessly and there is no data transfer.

It appears that your operator uses only Apn (access point) and no proxy similar to BSNL GPRS which uses only Apn (gprsnorth.cellone.in). It also doesn't use proxy, even if i give any damn proxy it connects. Only thing is that Apn should be the above only.

Guys. Any comments on content encoding. What does it really signify. Which type of content encoding is the best. And which is the default.

Posted by aatuif
Guys. Please suggest any mobile browser which will work with airtel live. I mean which will use proxy also in addition to access point.
