Hi all,
Dunno if you all saw the news yesterday evening but I was shocked at the prospect of High Street banks charging it's customers £35 for not using there credit card (Lloyds TSB)
See here:
http://www.thisislondon.co.uk[....]using+a+credit+card/article.do
I am one of TSB's customers altho I cancelled my credit card with them they still keep writing to me asking why im not using it...
Anyways if this is gonna happen whats the next thing will we be charged to use or debit cards?
your views all

This is why its always best to stick to debit cards..i always do,at least that way i know what im spending!
didnt't realise credit card companys were doing this?..shock!

it says that Credit card companys gain loss and seems to me that there moaning about sending out paper statements when you don't use the cards... MBNA (Sony Card) email me then I get a statement in the post!
I wont be happy if I get one of those letters from Lloyds TSB I tell ya
Axxr you better hope there ain't any charges on Debit cards next

To explain it to you in technical terms: F*CK 'EM!!!
Did you, btw, notice how shop staff are trained to ask debit card users, "would you like cashback"? It's like your weed dealer asking you if you'd like to try some coke or, hell, why not heroin... Hook you up!!! That is not "friendly store policy", that's the banks telling shop owners regularly that "it's extra nice to ask your customers to use that great cashback facility"... Using credit/debit cards is like going on holidays leaving your house unlocked - you invite the daylight robbers - and btw: in the process you make life for every non-card user more expensive in the long run, not to mention you're causing longer queues and thus possibly world war 3!!! ireland, btw, even has a credit card tax - you get one, the state taxes you around €40...just for getting the card!!!!! Surveys show 90+% unaware of that tax!!! Would you like (good old) cash BACK?

@maggflodd
SO right!
And the banks themselves leave their doors open for the thieves but althought they never admit how much was stolen, they still tell folks, "your property is safe/save with us"(even when we're on holidays...). Getting a credit card is like giving your car to a "friend" who, you know, never locks his car, uses his grandfathers license and doesen't pay road tax... And when you try to take him to court, the judge laughs you right out of the courtroom - cause you're a sucker!!! If you really need a card to shop online, get a disposable one... They at least charge you openly and straight away, and when the voucher's used up, that's it! No, "oh, can we throw some more funds at you in return for your future well-being and sanity?"
sorry dudes, but the saying "you are not IN a traffic jam, you ARE the traffic jam" applies to every person signing up for a card...

Tell yeah what if Lloyds TSB charge me im heading to Halifax just hope they don't make any ridiculous charges.
But as that guy said above there probaly only doing it to get people to stop taking credit cards out,
I keep all my payments up and I do sometimes make the full payments back on my card, I only have 1 card MBNA SonyCard currentley has £4000 on it do they raise the limits to piss you off or sumat?
I guess it's to get you into more debt huh
im very careful I only use my card for things I need and ive only spent in the region of £500 but im even paying that back at £85 or more a month
Lloyds are always writing to me about Loans I guess there will be a shocker on them next
If they do this to Debit cards all we can do buy a safe for our homes

My tact also. I would never use a credit card. Only debit. Keep all your money in a savings account and transfer money onto you debit card as and when you need it.
I just can't believe the amount of money banks make these days - not millions but billions each year - bear in mind that 1 billion is 1000 millions. Its absolutely shocking.
They have got away with so much for too long now. Charging people like f*ck for going £1 overdrawn and all that. They need shooting - all of them.

they cancelled it in my branch even cut it up so I dunno!
the APR was 17.9% on that...
I went for MBNA SonyCard cos it offers Pulsebeats what you can do with those is redeem them for any Sony products when I got the card it came with 2000 free but I do believe when you join up now you get 4000...
it's not a bad card.
there very secure tho you can't E-mail them you have to Phone them for everything!

@miss uk
Don't you believe it for a second! They just don't 'muddle up' up on purpose.
Have you ever noticed that as soon as you have an overdraft they start tormenting you with offers for a loan?
There was a story not so long ago about a bank who even gave a customer's cat a credit card. You can only imagine what the cat's monthly statement would have looked like
Link
I like the last sentence.

Bloomin hell... I really thought it was America
thats bloomin crazy,...
Atleast Credit card companys are far bit securer here,
I filled in application online with MBNA and about 3-4 weeks later I had a phonecall saying they had done a credit check and i'd passed!
they offered me insurance for a whole year for £20
Lloyds TSB were charging me £20 per month for that...
thats another reason I got rid of them!

That credit card story sound like an Urban Legend to you? Forget it! A couple of years ago I got an offer for a credit card/form and all (I DIDN'T EVEN have a bank account - still don't! You CAN live without the f*ckers). I opened a phony email account in my cat's name, emailed the form (incl. My cat's age of 5 yrs!). 3 days later I had the card (bank of Ireland).... After a week Flodder got a letter, saying, "mistake blah, blah"....
The damage Flodder could've caused in 6 days (if he had opposable thumbs...)!!!
Ireland has less than 4 million inhabitants... A few years ago just 1 irish bank managed to lose £700 million thanks to a gambling addicted employee in a US-office... Following that scandal the bank GAINED more customers!!! The logic being according to surveys: if they can handle such losses, they must be great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! None of this is made up!!! BANKS... Robb'em, bomb'em, don't deal widdem!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

it's less amazing at how many balls up they do
I don't think theres any cards outhere that offer something like 9.9%APR anymore is there, I think egg or mint used to offer that a few years ago tho?
