The m600i, Sony Ericsson's camera-less smartphone, will be reborn as the Lizzy later this year and still won't have a camera. Smart. The phone will also only support EDGE for mobile downloading, leaving 3G fans wondering just when the technology will make its way into cellphones on a large scale.
Well, that was underwhelming. Considering that Sony Ericsson is James Bon'd phone of choice, don't you think they should be using, oh, I don't know, present-day technology? I want my 3G, for heaven's sake.

Here is the softpedia opinion. A nice one about how outdated this Lizzy is..I agree with him.
"Exactly 2 weeks ago we caught word of some make-up artists working on a new refreshed edition of the M600i business cellphone manufactured by Sony Ericsson. Now, thanks to some guys from se-world.info, we also have live pictures of this revamped M600i, a handset also known as Lizzy.
As the info we had at that time told us, we weren't expecting nothing
special to come on the market, Lizzy being, as the rumors said, just a plain old M600i with a more silverish look and with added WLAN connectivity.
The new rumors tell us the phone pictured in the attached photo will indeed offer Wi-Fi, will not have a digital camera of any sort and will also feature EDGE technology. This is a quite inadequate move to be made by Sony Ericsson at a time when almost every mobile phone manufacturer with some self esteem launches HSPDA ready handsets.
That and its not that gorgeous looks will, in my opinion, sign its death certificate ahead of time. I don't know about you but given the present situation on the mobile market, I wouldn't get it even if Sony Ericsson would pay me to do it.
Lizzy is ugly, resembling the old fashioned calculators we all used to utilize when we were young to extract the square root and calculate stuff (handy at the time but quite old fashioned today especially considering the fact we're talking about a cellphone and not about some super-abacus wannabe).
Even more, Sony Ericsson doesn't seem to live in the same time continuous as we do! People, we need some kind of 3G here not EDGE. That is what my father thought was revolutionary... A few years ago! Wake up and pour some goodies in this technologically challenged phone of yours!
And if you're going to do that, please restrain yourself and don't stick in that totally out of this world joystick you put in all your handsets lately! It doesn't work as well as you think!

More people moaning. No smartphones with cameras? Why didn't the original poster of the article read up before posting it. There's a market for phones without cameras and there are other smartphones WITH cameras in the pipeline, Jeez.

Without a camera, advantages of 3g capabilities (384 kbps against edge's 256) are not necessary. UMTS use a lot of battery, and it's not always available. Edge is fast enough for normal use, and it's easier to connect to than UMTS.
Wi-fi was the only missing capability in the M600. It looks like Lizzie is going to correct this problem.
BTW, it's really ugly, it looks like a Nokia

I completely understand, and as I don't have 3G in my country EDGE is my only choice, fine. But if some1 needs a SE smart-phone w/o a camera s/he already can have M600/W950. Why nother 1, with NO visible improvements? at least a 1.3MPx would do.

Or perhaps Sony Ericsson is targeting the US market where 3G is severely lacking, limited to Cingular's network which utilizes bandwidth that is incompatible with the rest of the world. Perhaps this will be the M6XXa?
I would replace the words "Sony Ericsson" in the quote above to read "USA". Hence the much coveted iPhone will be launched with EDGE only.

i know many of you need 3G, but some don't, EDGE is availeble in more countries and cheaper. and maby it will have 3G, just not a 3G cam.

No 3G? Oh my God! Why? Isn't it the successor of M600? But why the spec is downgraded? Adding a WiFi in M600 is very smart but replacing 3G with EDGE only is very unexpected.
EDGE is useless in my country, almost none of providers here apllying EDGE, they're just jumped from GPRS to 3G.

Remember the spyshots of the well known K750, they were blurry, not very promising and ugly as hell. The design wasn`t finised that time, and improved when
announced it. So IMHO, this 'Lizzy' is going to be must more beautiful than you all think..
