Odd 3 signal problem - Esato archive

My neighbour just got a K800i on 3 and i know their signal is solid where i live so it should be for him but on this phone its very poor. He had a replacement but it was the same. So he went back again and got a Nokia N73 and the signal was superb. This i find odd as though Nokias have great signal strength i find now the latest SE phones are better so why was this not. Yet my K800i on O2 is solid but on O2 where i live a Nokia is not so good. This is quite strange. Why is this. Anyone know.
