I'm currently am using 128bit WEP is that safe enough or is WPA PSK better?

WPA was developed to try to fix the vulnerabilities of WEP and in general it is much stronger security

personally I think 128bit WEP is perfectly adequate for a home user in a residential suburb enviroment, and thats what I use, but if all your equipment to be connected to the network supports WPA there is no real reason not to use that

just remember that both methods are crackable by someone who really wants to do so

thanks for the info. just been watching a program on identiy theft and got a bit paranoid. scary stuff what fraudsters can do these days!

btw, I also tend to supplement the WEP with specific MAC address lists as well, though that too can be byassed by someone who really wants to

f you want to be really paranoid then change your keys every week or two but really, thats alot of hassle for a home user

I had my wifi turned on, on my TYTN today and it found a wireless network. When asked for the wep key I thought I would try 12345 and it worked!. Why would anyone set it too that? Its like putting a combination lock on your luggage when going on holiday and leaving it set to 000

i did use wpa but now use wep as that allows me to play games online with ps2 and psp. not had any problems with both though
