what the problem with the autofocus?
Posted by SEP990i

Hmmmm could it possibly be faulty?
Posted by SEP990i
Not sure to be honest........could be i suppose.

i had n90 in the past, i dont really remember, but as i recall, when the sign turned to green, than autofus was enabled. i had to push the "trigger", than it started to focus

Theres definately something wrong as from what i have heard from reviews etc one of the best aspects its cam was the macro function, never had one so cant say from my experiance but when it came to focussing up close it was pretty good.
Posted by BobaFett
the macro is really good, thats right. actually i never had any problems with autofocus and macro, even once i upgraded it

Well that green sign has a cross through it so i guess im just doing something wrong but i cant figure it out lol.
Any idea how to upgrade the firmware etc on the N90?
Thanks for the help.

u have to push the trigger as mentioned above constantly, then it focuses and push again. u can try the nokia online fw upgrade on nokia.com ( not sure if n90 is supported ) or visit nokia service.
Posted by SEP990i
yeah i push it half way it goes green then straight away has a cross through it.

Another thing im thinking of replacing the fascias on the N90 does anyone know how the casing comes off or where i can get a guide?
Ive googled it but couldnt really find much to help.
Posted by BobaFett
only nokia can change it for u and not every single services, only the choosen ones ( there are some level rankings among the services )

Woah that looks damn difficult dissasembling an N90, i know i would'nt fancy doing it
Posted by BobaFett
thatswhy i pointed to visit nokia service center, its really not that easy
Posted by Mamber
No it's not that bad, the pics make it look more difficult than it is.
Then I suppose it depends if you have taken a phone apart before.
Posted by BobaFett
and dont forget, that nokia has got special tools for such actions
Posted by fatreg
all depends on how big ya balls are..
and im sure he doesnt need to take it all to bits just to get the housing changed!

oh those pix there is a service guy or at least one, who had really good experiences ( just look at the special glows and tools )
Posted by fatreg
he's only using a T6 screwdriver, a SRT6 (a credit card will do!‚ and flat screw driver.
i'd be well up for taking it to bits..
i have done all my other phones!
did my P990i the first day i got it!

Hey Fatreg, I heard you have knackers the size of footballs!!!!
Yes those special tools are very important!
The SRT6's they use are no more than a guitar plectrum!
The Torx drivers most people can buy somewhere, make sure they are good ones.
The SS-57 is a very thin sheet of metal, or you could use a Stanley blade, something thin anyway.
The tweezers, knick your Mrs ones, or Fatreg's! I'm sure none of use them for taking screws out anyway?
Slotted screwdriver I'm sure we can find one of those from somewhere.
Sadly the phone does have to be taken apart as the bottom cover is fixed in a stupid method.
The only bit if your a real fanatic is the Kinky gloves and the anti static band, and I bet none of you use them?

Just rang my nearest Nokia Service centre. They want a tenner to update my fireware to the latest version.
Is it worth doing?
Thanks

Hi SEP990i,
The best place for loads of themes all for your specific model IMO is http://symbian.mobilethemes.com/ hope you find this useful. I would imagine updating to the newest firmware would be worthwhile and can only think there is a charge as this model is now over a year old from release.

make sure you are steady when you focus. focus on a distant object and then move the phone once the green box appears.
