Can the people who have MMS working tell me if they have a solid green triangle over their signal meter?

yes we do

Thanx, is GPRS necessary?

MMS uses GPRS to send and receive.

I see, I was wondering why I couldn't receive the contents of the MMS messages, the phone acknowledges that I have got MMS messages, but it can't get the contents cos it keeps on saying GPRS failed.

Did u guys have to go into the store that you bought the phone from or ring up you operator to set up the GPRS?

I phoned my network provider, orange UK to set up GPRS.
BTW my GPRS triangle is blue, not green! The signal meter underneath is green when it's at full strength!

How good is the UK's GPRS coverage, do some areas get it whilst others don't like ADSL?

How long does it take the operator to set up GPRS?

All it took was a SIM update which came within minutes of the request.
GPRS coverage is just the same as my network coverage, wirefree, if I don't have network coverage then I can't use GPRS, but it's totally different to ADSL.
ADSL depends on the correct cabling infrastructure being there in the first place and even if it is, there has to be sufficient interest in the service before the local exchange switches it on, which is why some more remote parts of the country can't get it, whereas a fairly built up area with plenty of businesses wanting to use ADSL will have the service, no problem.

Was the SIM update just software based, it didn't needed to be altered or anything?
If it is software based was updating it just like installing the settings sent from the SE website?

a sim update is a text which tells ur sim what services it has - you just erase it then switch ur handset off and on. the new service then takes effect. ie gprs, mms whatever

YOU need to check with your service provider to see if your phone is set up to recieve and send mms thru your Email system! if not your service provider can walk you thru how to set your phone up to send and recieve mms!
