This week at the 2007 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES), Motorola is delivering on an existing relationship with Microsoft to integrate Microsoft Windows Media technologies, into Motorola's MOTOMUSIC mobile devices. The MOTORIZR Z6 will be the first Motorola handset to include Microsoft Windows Media technologies including Windows Media Digital Rights Management (DRM), Windows Media Audio (WMA) and Media Transfer Protocol (MTP).

Built on Motorola’s new Linux-Java software platform, the MOTOMUSIC devices give consumers an easy music sync experience with Windows Media Player on Windows XP and Vista-based PCs and access to content from a wide range of online music stores from around the world. Now consumers can not only take their personal CD collections with them, but also can transfer music acquired from hundreds of download or subscription stores and playback on their Motorola handsets.

Just another RAZR variant.

Why there is always that part (red circled) on Moto phones?
What's the function of it?
It just makes the phone looks really ugly IMHO.

As Usual Limited Linux OS.

STill cannot do much > developers still cannot access the core OS.

By my count this is the 8-10th device based on this OS by Motorola. Maybe 12 if you count the V6 Maxx (which is based on Synergy similar features but not quite Linux OS). Its not a smartphone I can tell you that. And just after the Accompli lineup died and had its first replacement based on this OS, The Ming is the successor just like the ROkr E6.

Until to rework it from the ground up I still find it useless.

Prom1,

Don't know how much you've read into this. Even though this isn't the first time Moto uses Linux, the version that'll be implented in this phone is something very new.

A Norwegian company called Trolltech introduced Greensuite in november last year, which is made for Qtopia Phone Edition, and it's this version that'll be in Motorizr Z6 . I seriously doubt that you know for a fact whether developers can access the core OS of this brand new mobile Linux version or not.

Another thing is that another famous Norwegian company is developing software for this phone and OS, namely Opera.

I've never been a fan of Motorola, but the new-old design combined with a promising OS and web browser does catch my attention.

@ Prom1, previous Montavista Linux installed on Moto phones was very moddable. From where you got the info it's core is unreachable I do not know but from what I have found on the net, for my previous A1200, E6 and E2 were customized firmwares and many interesting apps. I even had terminal on A1200! From all of them I have kept only A1200. Mind you SE still has slower processor than any of the aforementioned. And quite reachable OS

EDIT: Wow, I am so late on the response...
