Found this at engadget, who are covering CES 2007 which obviously means Nokia unveiled it there.

The specs include a 4.1-inch 800x480 pixel touch screen, a 320MHz processor, 128MB of RAM, 256MB of Flash ROM, dual SD memory card slots, 802.11b/g WiFi, a built-in camera (they don't specify resolution), and Bluetooth 2.0 and a Linux os.

can this be used as a phone?

Posted by deepsme
No its not a cell phone, basically a web browser along with the usual PDA features. It also supports VOIP,pretty much like Sony's Mylo with some extra additions.

EDIT-heres a video of a working N800...

Hasn't yet been officially launched by Nokia, but was unveiled at ces 07,and sites like engadget have got boxed packages of this, therefore i guess a launch is pretty much round the corner.

How do you input text on this

Check out the video... Should answer your question.

There are a couple of options for text input.

1. On Screen Qwerty keyboard
2. Handwriting recognition
3. Plug in an USB keyboard (no drivers needed)
4. Use any Bluetooth keyboard, inc, Nokia (driver inc), any commonaly available BT keyboard, or even the Laser keyboards (such as the VKB)

I personally use the Bluetooth VKB laser keyboard with mine, and it works perfectly, also sometimes use my Apple BT keyboard and a USB Apple Keyboard.

I've had my eyes on Nokia N95 for a while, but leaving with their lovely UI does hurt (although not as much when I think of all the bugs in my W900i).

However, if I bought let's say a K800i which is far mor popular than W900i and thus has more updates, and this Nokia N800, I would still have a phone which was hopefully stable and would easily fit my pocket, and when I would need to browse internet on a big screen on the go, I would just bring the N800.

"Tål att tänkas på" as we would put it in Sweden. I love the design aswell. Wonder how big it would feel in my hands.

here is a video, however n770, but the feeling must be almost the same

Might consider it just to get some use out of that vkb I foolishly bought last year thinking there would soon be an S60v.3 driver.

Hi Jon,
it would be very interesting if you could keep us updated as to what you have installed and use it for. I know it is now VOIP able but does it/ can it run Skype?. I also realise it runs Opera for web browsing and is great for watching movies/videos, viewing pictures and listening to Music. But after that i am at a loss as to what else it can do be used for although having just typed all of that it is quite a lot really.
