Anyone know where I can get one from ? My disc drive won't recognise any type of disc. Have tried using Audio cd's, CD-R's, DVD movie's, DVD-R's to see if its just a certain type thats is no longer being read but the drive wont recognise anything.
The drive was working with no problems until a few days ago.
When I insert a disc and close the tray. The disc can be heard spinning but then stops and starts a few times before stopping completly.
Don't suppose anyone can help me on this
Oh. Its a Vaio VGN-FS115Z Laptop

That might be a software problem. I'd recommend you to try with a Linux Live CD (like Knoppix) to check if Windows (?) is the culprit. If that doesn't even try to boot (with the correct BIOS settings for CD boot), your drive is broken. If it does boot, reinstall Windows.

Bit hard to reinstall Windows as the cd drive wont recognise the program or application recovery discs

Ok. Went on Sony's update site and downloaded the latest driver for the disc drive.
Followed everything as per the instructions but the disc drive still wont recognise discs.
Phoned Sony and the cost of them to look at the laptop is £200 inc picking up and return delivery of the laptop.
