Ok guys I'm currently trying to decide what size of tv to get?
32" or 40"
So anyone who has an lcd tv is 32" to small? or is 40" to big and over powering in a living room?
Just looking for peoples view on what size is better?

40"
size does matter

surely it depends on the room?
i mean a 40 one in my bedroom would look silly yet a 32 one i my lounge is far too small..

big ones are always good in a bed room. U may disagree but usually in my room i just play ps2 and watch movies, and a bigger (i have 26 inch) would be amazing

depends on how far you ll sit from it, 2m is about right for a 32" if its further you ll need bigger.
though if your planning to move to your own place soon and you know you ll have a decent size front room might be worth investing in the 40" with an eye on the future

I had a 32" Sony, which I recently upgraded to a 42" Tosh, and it does seem a bit overwhelming at first. The tv is approx 4m away from where I sit, and in my opinion (at that distance) a 42" is as big as you should go.

I wouldnt bother with a tv, I would go with an HD projector. Makes more sense in the future...forget your worries of 32 or 40, you can adjust the size to suit your mood, hey blow it right up to 100inches if you feel randy.

yeah, we have a sony projector with a 70" screen and it fits great in our living room
if you want BIG then projector is the way to go though I reallt don't think it equals the quality of an LCD so fro your choice something like Bravia 40" would be my choice

I duno with the projector here its good at night but in the day you need to close the curtains to see it and its a pain even though its a very bright one.
Regards size we have a 110" projector and I don't think thats too big when sitting about 3-4 meters away so id say a 42 inch is about right (the 30 screen is a bit small tbh)

The new HD LCD projectors are amazing with the right screen and if you pump it with blueray or hd-dvd you will be in heavan.

Far from it. take a look at the bravia tv it costs £1200 approx. The New Benq MP 720P Projector costs £700 and like you said add a screen at around £200 you only at £900 in total. But your screen size for that amount of money has balooned to 100inches compared to the 32 inches of £1200.
But each to there own

the bigger the better.... but for a room... it depends... Minimum is 32" but if you can buy a 40" why not get it...
